Honestly never in a million years would I have believed that the creator of Fairly Odd Parents would be creating a christian tv show for kids. What I love about this is it puts the story front and center and the message second. Honestly most slept on show for kids. It's shocking there isn't more reviews for this show. But honestly there's a lot of good elements to this show. It tells a very unique story about two caretakers of a magical garden that their boss has assigned them over while having some elements of the Bible added throughout like going through your wilderness season, understanding what truth is, and much more. Honestly, just by the 1st season alone I can't wait to show this to my nephews I know that they would like it and it beats watching a lot of the garbage that modern entertainment offers for kids. That and entertainment used to have awesome shows that taught you life lessons but today it's rare, we definitely need that again in todays world, and butch delivers.
Honestly this show gets hate for being a work of Butch Hartman (due to critiques like LS mark and Saber spark dumping on him) and being Christian (animation community does not like that). I signed up for the yippie free trial and it would great worth the subscription, you honestly need a middle ground yes it cheesy, but I like cheese, far from horrendous unthoughtful sludge as the other Christian shows out there. The songs are catchy and animation smooth improvement from the mini-series reviewed before. It would do great on YouTube; I say it's like PBS kids mixed with Nick JR no adding and subtraction but throw in bible verses instead. As far as Christian shows I say it have to be in the top 10 at least, I know that doesn't say a lot.
It just felt super random. The coloring, the characters, the storyline, even the premise all seemed super low effort. I didn't like that God was referred to as "boss", the songs were unremarkable and it felt super moralistic and just not thought provoking. It felt like a Christian tv show made by a boomer (which it is). I think there are more creative and less moralistic ways to show who God is and how to be in His presence. I'm not sure if it was a passion project of the creator, but it felt like leftovers. Like we got half effort scraps. I know that sounds harsh, but I was disappointed and think he could do better!
