This is a kind of show you want to record on the hard drive and watch it later so you can fast forward the advertisements.
It is basically a clips show with talking heads, some of the talking heads will have your head scratching as you think who the hell they are and some of the ones who claim to have an interest in magic are the type who will appear for an opening of the envelope.
However there are some knowledgeable experts on the show as well, proper conjurers talking about amazing tricks and stunts. Its great to see magic from yesteryear and being reminded of magicians that appeared on TV when I was young and also see some feat from a time before I was even born.
When it comes to the top 50 there is a good representation of different types of magician, I think the duo who did the quick change routine should had been placed higher than say Dynamo walking on water which I think is overrated as you sort of guess he is walking on a platform just under the water. When it came to the top tier of the magic tricks, I think Derren Brown's owes more to showmanship, David Copperfield's looks outstanding and of course there is Penn & Teller.
These types of shows come around regularly these days but it is enjoyable but with a lot of padding and ads.
