I love all of these, despite (and in some cases, because of) their imperfections.

- DirectorLewis TeagueStarsTom SkerrittPatti LuPoneMichael SarrazinA Philadelphia shop owner forms a civilian patrol to stop neighborhood crime. The patrol's actions are seen as racially discriminatory, leading to escalating conflict.Terrific action movie. Really gets your blood boiling early on as Tom Skeritt unleashes his own brand of justice on pimps, pushers, and gangbangers!
- DirectorRoger VadimStarsRock HudsonAngie DickinsonTelly SavalasCalifornia State Police Captain Sam Surcher investigates a string of teenage-girl murders at Oceanfront High School.Hilarious sex comedy with Rock Hudson as a (possibly) murderous gym teacher who all the young ladies lust after. Plus, he rocks the 70's 'stache.
- DirectorPeter HyamsStarsElliott GouldRobert BlakeAllen GarfieldDefying orders to lay-off the case, two Los Angeles vice-squad cops go after a local mobster and use unorthodox methods to achieve results. Some great action sequences; the shootout in the grocery store is one long freakin' take! Not a great movie per se, but exciting.
- DirectorKirk WongStarsMark WahlbergLou Diamond PhillipsChristina ApplegateSocially anxious hitman Melvin Smiley, an expert in his lucrative field, goes on a job and falls in love with his kidnapping victim, turning his world upside down.Marketed as an action movie, when it's really a big goofy send-up of the genre.
Favorite Line 1: "Bust some caps! Give this man a gold star!"
Favorite Line 2: "How the f--- come you can't dump these two whack-ass, money-grubbing, no-respect giving b----es?"
Favorite Line 3: "Oh mama! Tapes not rewind?! Oh, that's gonna cost ya!" - DirectorWaris HusseinStarsShirley MacLainePerry KingDavid ElliottAn upper-class Manhattan divorcee comes to believe that her brother is possessed by the spirit of a serial killer who beheaded young women in Spanish Harlem.Whoo, this is a disturbing one. I doubt they could get away with the ending nowadays. I'm surprised this one isn't talked about more and doesn't have a more notorious reputation because yikes! It's not bloody, just, well... you were warned, and encouraged!
- DirectorStan DragotiStarsMichael J. PollardRichard EvansLee PurcellA more realistic, based-on-reality, unsensationalistic portrayal of the gritty early years of one of the most famous Wild West outlaws in history, Billy the Kid.Grimy, dingy western. Very well done and gotta love that poster!
- DirectorRoger ChristianStarsKathryn HarroldZeljko IvanekShirley KnightA disturbed telepathic man is unable to fully control his ability to transmit his dreams and visions into the minds of the people around him, or even influence reality. A female therapist tries to help him, but his mother gets in the way.Slow in spots, but has plenty of creepy moments, including a memorable bit in a hospital with lots o' flying glass bits cutting the hell out of people.
- DirectorSparky GreeneStarsChris MakepeaceScott HylandsRichard CoxA plane crash in the Mexican desert leaves a small group of survivors who are desperate for food and water. Fearing that they may never be found where they are, they head for where it is hoped there will be civilization and rescue. When their hopes prove unfounded, they must face the horrible possibility of choosing between giving up and dying, or doing the unthinkable to survive. If the opening scene doesn't grab you, I'm not sure what will. Harrowing, scary stuff.
- DirectorKinka UsherStarsBen StillerJaneane GarofaloWilliam H. MacyA group of inept amateur superheroes must try to save the day when a supervillain threatens to destroy a major superhero and the city.I'm amazed that this one never gets the love it deserves. A little long, plenty of the jokes fall flat... but that cast! Geoffrey Rush plays a character named 'Casanova Frankenstein' who has an army of disco dudes led by Eddie Izzard! Come on!
- DirectorFrank HenenlotterStarsKevin VanHentenryckTerri Susan SmithBeverly BonnerA young man carrying a big basket that contains his extremely deformed, formerly conjoined twin brother seeks vengeance on the doctors who separated them against their will.Any fan of stop-motion animation should check this out. Schlock mixed with scares. Love it.
- DirectorFred SchepisiStarsTimothy HuttonLindsay CrouseJohn LoneA prehistoric Neanderthal man found frozen in ice is revived by an arctic exploration team, who then attempt to use him for their own scientific means.I really enjoyed this when I saw it years ago. John Lone is remarkable as the thawed-out caveman. Great ending.
- DirectorMel StuartStarsGregg HenryKay LenzScatman CrothersCountry singer Paul Ramsey gets betrayed by a friend and lands on a prison farm for five years where sadistic foreman Omar Kinsman uses prisoners to train his beloved fighting dogs and there seems to be no chance of escape. One of my favorite 'B' movies. Gregg Henry is terrific and the chase scenes are exciting and long. Not your typical prison movie!
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsEd HarrisGary LahtiTom SaviniA medieval reenactment troupe struggles to maintain its family-like dynamic amid pressure from local authorities, interest from talent agents, and their "King's" delusions of grandeur. It's a knight on a motorcycle! Rad!
- DirectorCurtis HansonStarsSteve GuttenbergElizabeth McGovernIsabelle HuppertA young executive starts an affair with his boss's wife which then escalates into a nightmare after he lies to the police in order to protect her.Excellent thriller if you can ignore the fact that Steve Guttenberg is in it. Ah, who am I kidding, Guttenberg rocks! Curtis Hanson (the director of L.A. Confidential) knows how to keep you intrigued.
- DirectorDonald CammellStarsJulie ChristieFritz WeaverGerrit GrahamA scientist creates Proteus--an organic super computer with artificial intelligence which becomes obsessed with human beings, and in particular the creator's wife.A completely crazy movie. Creepy as F---! A robot impregnates Julie Christie!
- DirectorBruce MalmuthGary NelsonSylvester StalloneStarsSylvester StalloneRutger HauerBilly Dee WilliamsWhen one of Europe's most lethal terrorists shows up in New York, an elite undercover cop is assigned to take him down by any means necessary.I'm not a Stallone fan - I hate the Rambos - but this early gem has some great action scenes. He doesn't handle the dramatic scenes well, but it gets better and better as it goes! If you thought Rutger Hauer was a memorable badguy in 'The Hitcher' (I didn't), he is downright menacing in this one!
- DirectorJohn LandisStarsAnne ParillaudAnthony LaPagliaRobert LoggiaMarie is a vampire with a thirst for bad guys. When she fails to properly dispose of one of her victims, a violent mob boss, she bites off more than she can chew and faces a new, immortal danger. Not as good as Landis' 'An American Werewolf in London' (few things are!) but stands on its own as a very funny, very bloody vampire comedy.
- DirectorRichard LoncraineStarsStingDenholm ElliottJoan PlowrightA strange young man has a sinister effect on the family of a middle-aged writer. One of a kind. Love those opening credits! Sting is terrific!
- DirectorMike FiggisStarsRichard GereAndy GarciaNancy TravisAn Internal Affairs agent becomes obsessed with bringing down a cop who has managed to maintain a spotless reputation despite being involved in a web of corruption.Richard Gere playing one of the best badguys in movie history. He should have been nominated for an Oscar. Don't believe me? Well then, your move!
- DirectorTed KotcheffStarsMichael O'KeefeKaren AllenPeter FondaA rising star young gymnast is lured into a religious cult by a beautiful girl. Every moment with the group brings him more and more under the control of the cult's leader.Michael O'Keefe joins a cult led by Peter Fonda! Only available on VHS, so good luck tracking it down! But it's so worth it! James Woods' best performance - better than Salvador.
- DirectorJohn HoughStarsPeter FondaSusan GeorgeAdam RoarkeDown-on-their-luck racers Larry and Deke steal from a supermarket manager to buy a car that will help them advance their racing chances. Their escape does not go as planned when Larry's one-night stand, Mary, tags along for the ride.Good ol' 70's car chase movie! Never lets up for a second!
- DirectorGary ShermanStarsJames FarentinoMelody AndersonJack AlbertsonSheriff Dan Gillis investigates eerie deaths in a sleepy coastal town.Awesome horror film with some great Stan Winston make-up effects and one of the scarier films I've seen.
