With the help of his book store assistant, Grace and Mosely, a police department detective, Gabriel finds the clues to solve the mystery but tragically starts to fall in love with a beautiful but mysterious woman named Malia.A remake of the first game in the series.
- DirectorWill BinderStarsDean EricksonJoanne TakahashiRussell MitchellShortly after moving to Rittersburg to take over duties as the lone "Schattenjager", Gabriel Knight is called by the townsfolk to investigate the killing of a child believed to be caused by a werewolf. The second (and for me best) game in the series.
- StarsTim CurryCharity JamesDavid ThomasThe investigation of a kidnapping leads Gabriel Knight (Tim Curry) to the French village of Rennes-Le-Chateau where a dark and sinister mystery lies ready to be solved. The third game in the series.
- DirectorAlan ParkerStarsMickey RourkeRobert De NiroLisa BonetIn 1955 New Orleans, small-time private investigator Harry Angel is hired by a man who calls himself Louis Cypher to track down a singer named Johnny Favorite, but the investigation takes an unexpected and somber turn.A brilliantly atmospheric, brooding story about a PI named Harry Angel (see the similarity?) solving a voodoo mystery in New Orleans. Captures the GK Sins of the Fathers vibe perfecly. It was also a source of inspiration for GK1.
- DirectorRoman PolanskiStarsJohnny DeppFrank LangellaLena OlinA dealer of rare books finds himself at the heart of a string of paranormal events when he is hired to find the last two copies of a text that holds the key to summoning the devil. An antique books dealer on a chase for an occult ancient tome through the VS and Europe. Great film, can't get more GK then that.
- DirectorKevin SullivanStarsWarren ChristieMireille AsselinRutger HauerThe Magic Flute's all pervading themes of love and betrayal, reward and retribution, coupled with the encompassing power of Mozart's score have given rise to a movie set during Mozart's 250th birthday celebration year. Young virtuoso singer Tom (Warren Christie) is cast against his better judgment in the lead role of Tamino in the staging of The Magic Flute in Salzburg. Cast opposite Tom as Pamina, is Masha (Mirelle Asselin) from Eastern Europe - a mysterious diva with whom Tom quickly falls in love. Nothing is as it seems and we soon learn that Tom's mysterious love interest is being held against her will in a lavish palace. Famed musicologist Dr. Richard Nagel (Rutger Hauer) has been forced to train her in The Magic Flute's arias. Sensing the danger that the diva is in, Dr. Nagel knows he must help her. He must shape her into the most mesmerizing Pamina Salzburg has ever heard. But Masha disappears, jeopardizing the premiere of the production and Tom's world careens out of control. He enters a world of intrigue and danger that is reflected in his on-stage role in Mozart's classic fairytale. Tom finds his life and fortunes held hostage, as he is forced into a perilous world in order to save his co-star. It's a world that is exotic and thrilling.Very much captures The Beast Within spirit. Visually as well as in story. Not Ludwig II and Wagner this time and no werewolves but Mozart, the Freemasons and the magic flute opera.
- DirectorFrancis Ford CoppolaStarsVal KilmerBruce DernElle FanningA struggling horror writer visiting a small town on a book tour gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V.Gets the GK vibe brilliantly from start to end. Visually looks like The Beast Within (and other FMV games), has echos of The Blood of the Damned as well as the others and could basically be a fourth part with some minor adjustments.

- DirectorStuart UrbanStarsNatasha WightmanUdo KierDiran MeghreblianDating back to the time of Jesus Christ, an ancient relic known as the Loculus has been fought over by the forces of light and darkness down the centuries. Created in 50 A.D., the wood panels of the Loculus are emblazoned with two images: the Ankh symbol - a looped crucifix, and the Caduceus - a rod entwined with two serpents. On its perilous journey through history, the Loculus was further adorned with more arcane mystical imagery including pentagrams, hexagrams, a crucified serpent, the naked human form divine, and a hermaphrodite, and many have tried to unlock the secret of the sacred artefact, a secret only a chosen few know contains profound and overwhelming ramifications for mankind. In 1299, a Jewish alchemist attempts to unravel the enigma and ends in disaster. In 1710, Sir Isaac Newton, discoverer of the laws of gravity and a foremost member of the Masonic Order of the Knights Templar, also strove to answer the riddle. But with the art of science in its infancy, Newton realized the Underground Stream of research needed to solve the puzzle would have to flow for several more centuries before the prophesied ultimate Great Work could be wrought in all its glory. Now, the Loculus, missing for hundreds of years, has reappeared again. This movie tells the story of the final search for the Loculus, and its effect on the Martel family and the whole world.Similar storylines and aspects. For Templar Knights mysteries the Broken Sword games are great as well.
- DirectorJohn CarpenterStarsSam NeillJürgen ProchnowJulie CarmenAn insurance investigator begins discovering that the impact a horror writer's books have on his fans is more than inspirational. While not specifically Gabriel Knight it has some similarities and does manage to grab that mystery vibe. Captures the GK vibe very much as well.
- DirectorFabien DelageStarsAlexandre AjaDave AlexanderJean-Jacques BernardA documentary investigation on the rarest and most controversial French movie in the history of early cinema: a fascinating, lost and dangerous short film which causes violent reactions to those who watch it.Very similar to John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns but in documentary form. If GK was a film dealer this would make a great GK mystery with a Georges Méliès historical twist. Good fun!
- DirectorMarek PiestrakStarsKrzysztof JasinskiIwona BielskaStanislaw BrejdygantEx-guerrilla Kacper, possessed by late wife Maryna's spirit, is pursued by female werewolf. He recognizes werewolf traits in Julia, a countess involved with Austrian officer.A very atmospheric film which captures the lycanthrope aspect of The Beast Within very nicely.
- DirectorAlberto GelpiStarsChristopher LambertMaria Grazia CucinottaMarianna Di MartinoA series of mutilated corpses is upsetting a town in central Italy. Police believe that this is a wolf, but it might not be a wolf as others.Have not been able to find this one but it sounds like it might have some GK2 vibes going on. Also stars Christopher Lambert.
