In December 2015, Stephanie learned she had lung cancer. She successfully battled that illness with various treatments, but some of those treatments led to a leukemia diagnosis. She was treated at MD Anderson Medical Center in Texas, and after 100 days, was well enough to come back home. In January 2018, Stephanie announced on Facebook that her leukemia had relapsed. On June 6, 2018, she died from complications of lung cancer and leukemia at the age 55.
