- Had three children--daughter Toni Aluisa, son Wayne Viespi and Damien Zachary Cord. Toni is the daughter of Mary Ann Hutchinson, whom Alex never married, and Wayne was the product of his first marriage. His second marriage was to Joanna Pettet. Their son, Damien Zachary Cord (b. 10/3/68), died of a heroin overdose on 7/7/95. His third marriage was to author Susannah Boye-Moller.
- Appeared in the original Mission: Impossible (1966) and the second Mission: Impossible (1988) as a guest star. Both characters carried a cane and neither had any apparent need for one.
- Appointed to the Western Walk of Fame in Newhall, CA.
- In July 2002 he was a guest at the Western Film Fair in Charlotte, NC, along with Donna Douglas, Edd Byrnes, Peggy Stewart, Jean Porter, Steve Mitchell, Johnny Duncan and Kevin Greaves.
- He was the son of Marie (Palladino) and Alexander Viespi. His father was born in Caracas, Venezuela, to Italian and Spanish parents. His mother was of Italian origin.
- Cremated and his ashes returned to his family.
