It's been a while since we've seen Owen Wilson in a television series. Was Loki on Disney+ his last live-action role in a TV show? We believe so. More recently, he lent his voice to the podcast series Tom Slick: Mystery Hunter and the animated show Lego Pixar: BrickToons. But now, he’s set to make his return to television in a brand-new golf comedy series for Apple TV+. It’s called Stick, and we shared all there is to know about it right below.
In March 2024, it was revealed that Wilson had joined an upcoming comedy series for Apple TV+ as both the star and executive producer. That series was later given the title Stick. Jason Keller, who is best known for co-writing the script for Ford v Ferrari, created the sports comedy and also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers are Ben Silverman for Propagate Content,...

For nearly two decades, a film adaptation of the hit 1960s spy series "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." seemed perpetually on the brink of getting made. Warner Bros. nearly enticed Quentin Tarantino to take it on in the mid-1990s as his hotly anticipated follow-up to "Pulp Fiction," but he chose to make "Jackie Brown" instead. Directors like Matthew Vaughn and David Dobkin circled the project. A-listers Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Christian Bale and Ryan Reynolds (among many others) eyed the film at one point or another. Steven Soderbergh came very close to helming a version starring George Clooney as Napoleon Solo (the role originated by Robert Vaughn), but he backed out over budget issues. The film was a go in 2013 with Guy Ritchie directing Tom Cruise and Armie Hammer as, respectively, Solo and Illya Kuryakin (played by David McCallum on the show), but Cruise stuck with Ethan Hunt and the "Mission: Impossible" franchise.

Will Ferrell's iconic cameo as Chazz Reinhold in Wedding Crashers was a last-minute addition that almost didn't happen. Test audiences went wild for Ferrell's surprise appearance, laughing hysterically before even knowing it was him. Director David Dobkin had to beg the studio not to include Ferrell's cameo in the marketing to maintain the element of surprise.
Will Ferrell briefly appears in Wedding Crashers in one of the greatest comedy movie cameos ever, but his scene almost didn't happen. Wedding Crashers stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey, two friends who make a game out of going uninvited to weddings to sleep with the single women there, lying about their backgrounds and histories until they both accidentally fall in love. A hilarious and R-rated bromance, Wedding Crashers is filled with likable characters who the audience can't help but cheer for even through their less savory moments.

Robert Downey Jr.'s career in the past decade and a half has been defined by his role as Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, in the MCU. His 2014 movie, The Judge, is his best modern movie prior to his Oscar-winning role in Oppenheimer. While not received favorably by critics, The Judge showcases Downey's dramatic acting chops and considerable range.
A Robert Downey Jr. movie from 2014, The Judge, is currently available on Netflix, and it features the actor's best modern non-mcu performance before 2023's Oppenheimer. Exclusive: A little over a month after Season 3 of Resident Alien wrapped its run on Syfy, the future of the quirky sci-fi comedy-drama is up in the air. And there is some intrigue over where the series starring Alan Tudyk would continue should it get a fourth season.
I hear there are talks about Resident Alien moving from Syfy to NBCU cable sibling USA Network, which currently doesn’t have scripted originals besides Chucky, which it shares with Syfy. According to sources, a return to Syfy appears unlikely, so USA is Resident Alien‘s only feasible destination within NBCU, whose UCP division produces the adaptation of the comic book by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse.
But a potential Season 4 pickup by USA would come with a major budget reduction, as much as $500,000 an episode, which will be challenging, I hear.

The Judge, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall, subtly references Duvall's feature film debut in To Kill A Mockingbird. Both The Judge and To Kill A Mockingbird share themes of corruption and murder, creating ethical dilemmas for the characters. After a decade and change playing superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sandbox, Robert Downey Jr. wants to remind everyone there's more to him than Tony Stark. In the years since permanently (?) retiring his MCU alter ego in "Avengers: Endgame," the actor has lined up an ambitious slate of projects. Between getting an Oscar for his supporting role in Christopher Nolan's Best Picture-winning "Oppenheimer" and pulling a Peter Sellers by tackling multiple colorful characters in Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar's "The Sympathizer" miniseries, it's fair to say Rdj the character actor is officially back.
As chance would have it, we're now 10 years removed from the last time Downey tried (but failed) to renew his acting bonafides with "The Judge." Directed by David Dobkin, the 2014 drama stars Downey as Hank Palmer, a big-shot lawyer from Chicago who returns to his podunk hometown in Indiana to attend his mother's funeral.

Hank from The Judge channels Sherlock Holmes' deduction skills in a bar scene, reminiscent of Downey Jr.'s previous role. Both Hank and Sherlock exhibit confidence and blunt honesty, despite their differing professions and personalities. Despite similarities, Hank in The Judge shows more emotion and a stronger family bond compared to the cold, calculating Sherlock Holmes.

Top-tier actors like Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, and Vera Farmiga shine in The Judge, praised for their powerful performances. The movie focuses on Hank's personal growth and relationship with his father, navigating complex emotions and family dynamics. Supporting cast like Vincent D'Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, and Dax Shepard effectively elevate the narrative.
The Judge features an impressive cast of experienced actors. The 2014 drama follows Hank Palmer (played by Robert Downey Jr.), a hardened defense attorney who abandoned his small-town Indiana roots and defends wealthy, often guilty clients in civil and criminal court. Despite his financial success, however, Hank's relentless work ethic and lack of empathy have strained his relationships. He is estranged from his stern father, Joseph Palmer, a revered local judge, and is facing an impending divorce from his wife. Following his mother's sudden death, Hank reluctantly returns to his hometown for the funeral, intending to leave promptly afterward.

“You’re not even a person till you’re 30,” says a friend to Solène Marchand (Anne Hathaway), a single woman celebrating her 40th birthday. “Then you spend the next 10 years figuring out what kind of person you want to be.” In The Idea of You, adapted from the Robinne Lee romance novel that was ostensibly based on fan fiction about erstwhile One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles, age is only a problem insomuch as other people make it one, rooting its romantic complications in the somehow still revolutionary idea that people (and women specifically) grow and bloom throughout every phase of life.
Solène is a Los Angeles art gallery owner still nursing wounds from her not-so-recent divorce while doing her best to amicably co-parent her teenage daughter, Izzy (Ella Rubin), with her ex-husband, Daniel (Reid Scott), whose cheating ways led to their separation. If you followed indie film in the 90s, Vince Vaughn was at the center of a legendary tale. As the story goes, in order to get permission to use the theme from Jaws in the film Swingers, Doug Liman screened the film for Steven Spielberg’s approval. Not only did Stevie Boy allow them to use the scary shark tune but the legendary director knew he had to work with whoever was playing Trent Walker. And, he did just that when he cast Vince Vaughn in his Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World. Spielberg instantly knew that Vince Vaughn was superstar material and he was correctomundo. Over the last nearly 30 years, he has given us some of the best comedic performances mixed in with some bone chilling anti-heroes. But it seems in the past few years Vaughn has slowed down his output to focus on smaller roles in more meaningful projects.

Vince Vaughn appeared to have a ball while referencing some of the popular films from his oeuvre during an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay.
The actor and longtime sports fan was the Week 4 guest picker Saturday on the cable television program that previews the day’s NCAA college football matchups. “This is like picking kids for me,” Vaughn explained. “My dad’s from [Ohio]. My sister, born in Columbus. My niece goes to Ohio State. And you can’t talk about football without talking about the great state of Ohio.”
He continued, “The Buckeyes are for real, always. You can never doubt them.

Whether it’s the questionable FX, the lead star’s very controversial dalliances, or just audiences being burned one too many times by Comic Book Films, there’s one movie that is all anyone can talk about. And look, I get it. There was a lot of craziness that went on during this production and had more people come and go due to creative differences than any movie we’ve covered on the show.
Warning you guys and gals right now, if you haven’t seen The Flash, you’re going to want to turn back now, because this is where things get Super spoilery.
Warner Brothers tried getting a Flash movie off the ground in the late 80’s with comic writer Jeph Loeb being brought in to write the screenplay. Unfortunately nothing ever came of the property until 2004 when David S Goyer signed on to write, direct and produce a new Flash.

Clint Howard – son of Rance, brother of Ron, uncle of Bryce, etc. – has been acting since he was a child, and over the decades has racked up over 250 credits, from Star Trek and The Andy Griffith Show to The Wraith, Carnosaur, Ticks, Little Nicky, Apollo 13, a couple Silent Night, Deadly Night sequels, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, 3 from Hell, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. You’ve almost certainly seen him around. His most recent credit was in the Nicolas Cage film The Old Way… and one of his most popular roles came in the 1995 horror comedy Ice Cream Man (watch it Here). Ice Cream Man has developed a strong cult following in the years since its release, and Howard is aiming to bring the audience more killer ice cream man action. He took to Instagram to reveal that he recently got some collaborators together for a reading of the Ice Cream Man sequel script!

Maroon 5 has shared the video for their latest single, “Middle Ground.” The reflective, slightly overwrought track marks the rock band’s first release since 2021.
“Sisters and brothers are picking sides / and both of our mothers are terrified,” singer Adam Levine croons on the track. “And I’m crying out to an empty sky / tell me, if I hit the ground / and I fall down to my knees, would you hear the sound / am I crazy to think that we, could make it out / am I crazier to believe, there’s a middle ground.

The Dceu’s The Flash has seen several delays due to creative differences, but the quest to get a Flash movie made traces back to 2004. A founding member of the Justice League both in the comics and in the Dceu, Barry Allen has yet to receive a solo live-action film. Before the Dceu, Warner Bros. tried three different versions of a Flash movie, all of which were developed amidst very different contexts.
Originally cast as Barry Allen in 2015 for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ezra Miller has so far only appeared as the Flash in cameos throughout the Dceu and in Justice League. The Dceu’s The Flash was initially supposed to be released in March 2018, but successive directors’ departures led to multiple delays and many different versions of the story. The Flash is now set to be released in June 2023, with a script written by Christina Hodson and...

While Jackie Chan has always been an affable and comedic performer, even going back to his early martial arts films from the 1970s, something curious happened when he broke into the Hollywood mainstream in the late 1990s. Producers looked at Chan's playful, heroic, somewhat goofy charm and shifted it into overdrive. Chan's American films, as a result, tended to be incredibly broad, full of silly mugging, "culture clash" humor, and a general lack of stakes. Chan's first major American hit was Brett Ratner's "Rush Hour" in 1998, a serviceable but largely unremarkable police comedy wherein Chan played opposite Chris Tucker. That film was such a runaway success (it made over 244 million worldwide) that a pattern was immediately set for Chan. Pair him with an unlikely co-star, put him in generic action scenarios, and watch the money roll in.

At the beginning of James Gunn's "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special," Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) is approached by a band of space aliens who claim to have been practicing on a set of new-fangled Earth instruments they had recently been gifted. They also know, in a vague sense, that it's the time of year that Earthlings typically celebrate an oblique holiday called Christmas and they have decided to write a song in honor of it. The aliens, however, only have a vague idea of how Christmas operates and get a lot of the details incorrect. Their tune is called "I Don't Know What Christmas Is (But Christmastime is Here)."
The credits reveal the alien band to be named Bzermikitokolok and the Knowheremen, with Bzermikitokolok played by Rhett Miller, Kortobookalia played by Murray Hammond, Sliyavastajoo played by Ken Bethea, and Phloko played by Philip Peeples. Fans of 1990s Texas-based...

Exclusive: Former ICM political strategist Brandon Sharp has launched Agenda, a management and production company that will be dedicated to advancing inclusive entertainment and media projects. The company will work with TV and film writers, actors, directors, musicians, authors, artists, public intellectuals, playwrights, and business founders from predominately untapped communities to realize their projects on more equitable grounds.
“Representation for representation’s sake is not enough,” said Sharp. “The strides we’ve made for people of color in front of and behind the camera are significant, but the business side of media and entertainment remains largely unchallenged. The people who stand to profit the most from the boon in ‘diverse’ content are not the originators of that content, and that has to change.”

R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned is a Western directed by Paul Leyden, starring Jeffrey Donovan and Penelope Mitchell.
A blend of the wild west with a more mystical supernatural dimension.
Premise
When Sheriff Roy Pulsipher finds himself in the afterlife, he joins a special police force and returns to Earth to save humanity from the undead.
R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned About the Movie
A rather banal production that might have an audience. It is difficult to foresee.
Bordering the B movie category, this is a feature that will neither be remembered nor leave a mark. The characters are unconvincing, the gimmicks are bad, but at the same time it is harmless entertainment.
Enjoy.
Sequel of R.I.P.D. (2013)
Director: Robert Schwentke
Writers: Peter M. Lenkov,David Dobkin,Phil Hay
Cast: Jeff Bridges,Ryan Reynolds,Kevin Bacon

Nine years ago, Universal released a supernatural action comedy called R.I.P.D.: Rest in Peace Department, which didn’t do much at the box office despite starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. Made on a budget somewhere in the 150 million range, R.I.P.D. only earned 78.3 million worldwide. It was considered a bomb… but that hasn’t stopped Universal from making a direct-to-video sequel. Made completely under the radar, the sequel is called R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned – and it has already been screened for the ratings board at the Motion Picture Association, earning a PG-13 rating for “sequences of violence, language, disturbing images and some crude/sexual references“.
According to IMDb, R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned was directed by Paul Leyden (Chick Fight) from a screenplay he wrote with Andrew Klein. Since the film was made in secrecy, a plot...

Few movies have been both as eagerly anticipated and as deeply troubled as "The Flash." Despite being one of DC's most popular superheroes, bringing the Scarlet Speedster to the big screen for a solo adventure has proven to be a major challenge -- and that's saying the very least of it. The attempts date way back to the '80s, when superstar comic book writer Jeph Loeb was developing a script for a film that would have focused on the character. Yet, at every turn, something has gone wrong and prevented an adaptation from seeing the light of day.
As it stands, Warner Bros. has a completed movie that stars Ezra Miller in the lead role as Barry Allen, with Andy Muschietti ("It") in the director's chair. To seal the deal, Michael Keaton is reprising his role as Batman. But Miller has had a string of concerning and highly public...

It seems Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn aren’t quite ready to renew their vows.
Despite several reports that Wilson, Vaughn, Isla Fisher and Rachel McAdams are all on board to make a sequel to the 2005 hit comedy “Wedding Crashers” for HBO Max and will start up production this summer, Wilson tells Variety that progress on a sequel is still very much in the early planning stages.
“Some people are saying that you guys are going to be going in August, and that’s not right,” Wilson told Variety in an interview about his upcoming Marvel Studios series “Loki” for Disney Plus.
Instead, Wilson says that director David Dobkin “has been working on something,” and that he has been “talking with Vince” — but progress on the project has not progressed much farther than that.
This is far from the first time there’s been talk of a “Wedding Crashers” sequel.

Iceland’s big bid for an Academy Award this year is the show-stopping, soaring ballad “Husavik (My Hometown)” from the Netflix movie “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.” Written by Fat Max Gsus, Rickard Göransson, and Savan Kotecha, the track is up for Best Original Song at the Oscars, and Swedish pop star Molly Sandén got the chance to belt it out during a glorious pre-taped performance that took place in the real town of Husavik. While the performance aired during the Academy Awards pre-show, you can watch it below.
In the lead-up to the Academy Awards, Icelanders have rallied behind the song from the spoofy comedy starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams. Husavik, a town of just about 2,300 people, began staging a grassroots Oscar campaign earlier this year.
“It’s such a beautiful song about our town,” Örlygur Örlygsson, a local entrepreneur spearheading the campaign, told the Associated Press.

Usually, the Oscar nominations for Best Original Song are pretty predictable: There’s almost always a Disney torch song, a pop star trying to break the mold, and a tune by Diane Warren, who has been nominated 12 times now with no wins so far. But this year, among songs by H.E.R., Leslie Odom Jr., and, of course, Diane Warren, there’s a surprise contender: “Húsavík (My Hometown),” a schmaltzy Europop parody sung in faux-Icelandic accents by Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams in the Netflix comedy, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

Ahead of the Season 1 finale, Syfy has renewed its hit dramedy Resident Alien starring Alan Tudyk for a second season.
Resident Alien is about to wrap its first season as the most-watched new cable drama in the last year in total viewers and No. 2 in the adults 18-49 demographic. It’s also Syfy’s highest-rated new drama in more than six years in total viewers and earns the second-biggest time-shifting gain for any cable drama in the last year in total viewers, according to Nielsen.
The January 27 series premiere has drawn 9.3 million viewers across all platforms and NBCUniversal networks. The cross-platform launch strategy to leverage the power of NBCU’s entertainment portfolio was emphasized by Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks, when she first took the job last fall. In Live+3, the following week’s episode saw an increase of 581,000 viewers, the biggest jump for a cable drama launch since 2014, according to the network and Nielsen.

When the Will Ferrell-Rachel McAdams comedy “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga” hit Netflix last year, it garnered a lot of fans. Among those are the residents of Húsavík, the small fishing village in Iceland with 2,300 residents, where the film is set. Rare as the phenom is, 2020 brought some superior satirical numbers that stand a decent chance of being nominated, including “Husavik (My Hometown),” the song sung by Rachel McAdams and Will Ferrell’s Icelandic characters in “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.” The closest...
