There’s something to be said for a group that commits to the bit. In a 1996 episode of The Simpsons, titled “Homerpalooza,” the famously prescient writers created a sequence involving Cypress Hill accidentally booking the London Symphony Orchestra for a gig. On Wednesday (July 10th), the hip-hop act made the joke a reality.
In a special one-night-only performance, Cypress Hill took the stage at Royal Albert Hall alongside the London Symphony Orchestra to run through reimagined versions of classic tracks like “Insane in the Brain,” “A to the K,” and “I Wanna Get High.” Watch fan-shot footage of the performance below.

For the reportedly sold-out performance, the group also performed their 1993 album, Black Sunday, in its entirety.

The Simpsons has once again predicted the future, as Cypress Hill finally performed with the London Symphony Orchestra.
The long-running Fox cartoon, in the classic season seven episode “Homerpalooza,” in a short scene depicted the California rappers collaborating with the Lso — a happy accident resulting from thinking they may have booked the orchestra while high. We then all-too-briefly see Cypress Hill and the Lso performing a classical version of “Insane in the Brain.”
On July 10, at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall, life imitated art as Cypress Hill took the stage backed by the full Lso.
Dressed in suits, the group performed the Black Sunday album, their second studio LP which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. The album, which was a huge commercial and critical success, topped the Billboard album charts in 1993 and has sold over 4 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Trueno is honoring 50 years of hip-hop by working with rap legends Cypress Hill on a remixed version of the Argentine star’s “Fuck el Police,” which originally interpolated and sampled N.W.A.’s classic cop protest song “Fuck tha Police” 35 years later.
“Bringing Cypress Hill on for ‘Fuck el Police’ was so important for me, given the style of the song,” Trueno tells Rolling Stone. “Of course, it has a lot of history with N.W.A and ‘Fuck tha Police’… The flow of the song, for me it [felt] very much Cypress Hill,...

Whether you are a '90s kid or just came to respect the era thanks to the resurgence of its most prominent fashion trends and music, you'll love "The Midnight Club." The Netflix show follows a group of eight terminally ill patients at a hospice-care center called Brightcliffe in the '90s. They tell each other scary stories every night, each promising to send the group a sign from beyond the grave if they die. But along the way, haunting secrets about Brightcliffe are revealed.

Near the end of Rage Against the Machine’s first concert in 11 years, frontman Zack de la Rocha walked to the tip of the stage, squinted his eyes shut, and roared out the “fuck you I won’t do as you tell me” climax of “Killing In The Name” as roughly 30,000 fans screamed along in unison, several of them crowd surfing right at his feet despite looking about 20 years too old for such an activity.

Cypress Hill has always been an easy group to pigeonhole. From the adenoidal whine of frontman B-Real’s voice to the group’s almost monomaniacal focus on weed-smoking, one can imagine younger listeners writing them off as a one-note act. But history has been kind to them, and a deeper look through the smoke clouds on the surface reveals much more than meets the eye.
They were hip-hop’s first Latino superstars, and key architects of its West Coast sound and style. They were among the most visible advocates for cannabis legalization at a time when that prospect seemed politically unrealistic. And they were second only to the Beastie Boys in their ability to bridge the divide between rap and rock audiences, at a time when those two genres were often at odds. It’s a good bet that Cypress Hill co-founder and multi-dispensary owner B-Real (Louis Freese) might be celebrating the unofficial national hemp holiday 4/20 even without a full plate of projects. But you could say his bong is overflowing.
Tonight, Showtime will premiere the group’s feature-length documentary, “Insane in the Brain,” while the seminal rapper will be spending the day visiting several of his six Dr. Greenthumb’s locations — one each in Sylmar, Lincoln Heights, Cathedral City, San Francisco and San Diego, with his latest opening near Lax airport in the La Tijera/La Cienega area. He’ll be marking the release of his new budget-conscious cannabis strain, Dr. Greenthumb, named after the alter ego he introduced on the song of the same name on 1998’s “Cypress Hill IV,” which had a video portraying a mad scientist grower who demonstrates how to farm the plant while avoiding police surveillance from above.

The weed-filled, lowrider-laced story of Cypress Hill is coming to the small screen. On Thursday, Showtime released the official trailer for Cypress Hill: Insane in the Brain about the rap group’s influence on hip-hop.
The film is directed by Estevan Oriol and explores the group’s one-of-a-kind sound and how they were able to effortlessly feature their Latino roots and west coast upbringing in their music. “Somewhere in here, there is Cypress Hill,” the trailer starts as B-Real looks through film with a microscope. “We never thought we’d be making history.

Marijuana-centric, multi-platform media company PRØHBTD has announced the start of pre-production on “High Cuisine,” a new travel, food and drug-infused docuseries, in partnership with Totem Media.
The 10-episode series will follow Noah Tucker and Anthony Joseph — two veteran chefs of Michelin-starred restaurants in Amsterdam and London — as they travel the world in search of local dishes and mind-altering ingredients in a mission to create “truly forbidden cuisine.” Some of those ingredients may include things like kanna, Syrian rue, and ‘magic’ mushrooms — all which have been known to provide users with a euphoric high, though the company stresses that the ingredients are “safe and mostly legal.”

When Space Jam debuted in theaters on Nov. 15, 1996, it was an undeniable hit. The film told the story of Michael Jordan's return to basketball after being recruited by Bugs Bunny to help defend the Looney Tunes from a gang of aliens. (Jordan himself returned to basketball in 1995 after a brief attempt at baseball.) Combining the appeal of Jordan and Looney Tunes, the film quickly raced to No. 1, grossing over $90 million in the U.S. and becoming the third highest-grossing sports film of all time.

There's still a chance that Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa could get back together. The couple tied the knot in 2013 after two years of dating. But Rose, 32, filed for divorce after 14 months of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. She and Khalifa, 28, now share custody of their son Sebastian, 2. In spite of their split, the exes maintain a close relationship. "It's so crazy that we are literally the best of friends," Rose told Bethenny Frankel on SiriusXM's B Real With Bethenny Wednesday. "We hang out all the time. We have family days with the baby." Sebastian isn't the only reason the model and the rapper are still in each other's lives, though. "We just went out to a...

Gone but not forgotten. This past weekend family, friends and fans came out to say their final goodbye to record spinner DJ Hideo, who passed away the week prior from complications from colon cancer. The famed Bum Squad DJ who coined the phrase "Live Life" admitted himself to a local hospital back in February when he was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer that had already spread to his liver. To raise awareness on the deadly disease, Hideo launched a blog that gave frequent updates on his condition.
The last blog entry, posted on April 24, read: "Hi everyone! Wanted to let everybody know that I check in back @ Mission hospital last week because of the weakness that I’ve been feeling for the past week. My vitals are stable and now need the assistance of a ventilator to breathe. I’m very aware of my condition and communicate in writing.

Six years after releasing "Till Death Do Us Part" in 2004, Cypress Hill finally make a comeback with a new album "Rise Up" this year. The Latino group are gearing to drop their next studio installment in the U.S. on April 20.
In this effort, the band include rock sound like they first did in 2000 "Skull & Bones" which led them return to the Top 10 of Billboard Hot 200 after failing to crack the list with its predecessor. Instead of separating the rap and rock music in a 2-disc album however, they blend the different sounds into one single-disc set.
On how they came up with such idea, the band's member B-Real told AOL, "We did the bulk of it [the album], but after we got halfway, we said, 'Let's try some different things'." One of the featured guests in the album are Mike Shinoda of the Linkin Park.
He continued, "We thought we should try collaborating with Tom Morello,...

As you have seen, we’ve been closely following the release of DJ Hero, the next step in rhythm gaming from Activision. Today is no exception as the company has now released the full 93 song set list for the game. While all club styled mixes, remixes and mashups, DJ Hero boasts one of the most varied collection of artists in any Hero franchise release.
With everything from the Jackson 5 to 2Pac, Daft Punk to Queen and everything in between, that variety of DJ Hero’s playlist is unmatched, as long as you like mashups and remixes. If you are a musical purist to the extreme, this game isn’t really what you’d be looking for.
In addition, the game will feature 10 tracks where players can plug in their Guitar Hero guitar and play alongside their friend on the DJ Hero turntable for a true real time rock / dance mashup.

Number One with a Bullet is a deep examination of the violent presence in hip hop culture. Candid interviews with some of rap’s biggest names (Mos Def, Ice Cube) discuss the continuing connection between their music and gun violence. Cypress Hill’s B-Real, former G-Unit member Young Buck, and other lesser names revisit the scenes where they themselves were shot, spotlighting famous faces as survivors of street shootings.
But the group of artists seems divided. Some take an emotional moment to show gratitude for what they were lucky to keep, while others wear their bullet wounds like badges of honor after a rough life on the streets. “Look, I made it. Oh and while you’re at it, check out this loaded pistol,” they basically tell the camera.
