Exclusive: Ryan Murphy’s latest installment of his Netflix Monster anthology series, has cast Suzanna Son in a series regular role, sources tell Deadline.
Although details regarding who she will play and the Season 3 plot are under wraps, it will focus on suspected serial killer Ed Gein, to be portrayed by Charlie Hunnam. Known as the Butcher of Plainfield or the Plainfield Ghoul, Gein confessed to murdering two women in the 1950s and also allegedly made trophies out of bodies and skin of corpses he exhumed from graveyards. Gein’s story inspired the Leatherface character in Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Murphy and Ian Brennan created Monster. The original installment was No. 3 on Netflix’s Top 10 list of its most popular English-language programs.

For a long, long time, Hollywood had relegated Zack Snyder to a somewhat diminished status as a director for his previously difficult experiences with Warner Bros. Both his attempts at adapting comic books to live-action films had been deemed a severe failure of creative and artistic sensibilities. Yet, the films in question – Watchmen and Dceu – raised an army of fans who have been unwavering in their fealty to Snyder.
Watchmen [Credit: Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures]
Guillermo del Toro has had a somewhat similar experience in the industry as well. The director, famously known for his love for the bizarre, has nearly 20 fully-developed scripts in his possession that were never made into a movie. Despite his Oscar-winning credentials and unique artistic vision, Hollywood has hardly done right by del Toro.
However, even beyond their underappreciated vision as auteurs, there is a singular quality that unifies both Snyder and del Toro under one creative umbrella.

The ten-episode series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (read our review Here) was such a huge success for the Netflix streaming service back in 2022 that Netflix ordered two more seasons of the show from its creators, Ian Brennan and American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story was recently released, and has had quite an impact on the real lives of the title characters… and right before that season premiered in September, it was announced that Sons of Anarchy‘s Charlie Hunnam had signed on to play murderer and graverobber Ed Gein in Monster season 3. As it turns out, Monster season 3 (which is apparently called The Original Monster) is expected to reach Netflix by the end of 2025 – and industry scooper The InSneider reports that singer / TikTok celebrity Addison Rae (Thanksgiving) and Suzanna Son are the latest additions to the cast. Look, I get it – Christopher Nolan is basically Hollywood’s golden boy right now. Fresh off his Oppenheimer triumph, with those shiny Oscar statues and impressive box office numbers to boot, he seems unstoppable. And hey, when Universal Pictures dropped that bombshell announcement about his next project being The Odyssey, I should have been over the moon.

I mean, it’s Nolan taking on Homer! But here’s the thing – the more I think about it, the more this knot in my stomach grows. Sure, we’ve got this incredible cast and Nolan’s track record speaks for itself, but something’s nagging at me.
Maybe it’s my inner literary-film nerd overthinking things, but I’ve got some serious concerns about whether this epic adventure will connect with today’s audiences the way Oppenheimer did. Let me break it down for you.

Netflix has quite a large slate of new and returning series coming in 2025. The slate was previewed Wednesday at the streamer’s annual Next on Netflix event in Los Angeles, which was also streamed across the globe.
Some of the most anticipated projects include Stranger Things 5 and Wednesday Season 2, neither of which have premiere dates just yet. So far, Netflix has revealed a huge slate for February, as well as a smattering of series that are expected through August, but a large portion of the series the streamer says we’ll see this year haven’t been confirmed for a specific date yet.
Of the dates that were revealed, perhaps the biggest surprise is that the third and final season of Squid Game is coming sooner than audiences might have anticipated, premiering on June 27. June will also bring another season of Ginny & Georgia.

Warning: This article contains minor spoilers for "Star Trek: Section 31."
The debut of "Section 31" marks the moment when "Star Trek" has officially gone where it never has before -- the small screen. Wait, that didn't come out quite right. Obviously, every Trekkie knows that the sci-fi franchise has its roots in television, but there's something to be said for how this particular release changes the game for the first time in over 50 years. In an unprecedented move, a "Trek" film is going directly to streaming. Whether this opens up a whole new universe of possibilities for future projects or simply represents an unusual one-off situation remains to be seen. But, in many ways, "Section 31" is putting a whole new twist on this established property ... and that certainly applies to the cast as well.

Here’s What Dakota Johnson Once Revealed About The BTS Drama On Fifty Shades’ Set ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
It turns out that the drama on the Fifty Shades set was steamier than anything on-screen. Seven years after the franchise’s debut, Dakota Johnson spilled the tea in Vanity Fair, and it’s just as juicy as you’d expect. Behind the seductive facade, filming the Fifty Shades series was an uphill battle filled with creative clashes, awkward rewrites, and plenty of “What are we even doing?” moments.
Dakota initially signed on as Anastasia Steele because, as she put it, “I’m a s**ual person.” She wanted to explore the spicy themes that made E.L. James’s books a sensation. But reality hit hard. “I signed up to do a very different version of the film we ended up making,” she admitted. The reason? Creative control, lots of it. E.

When renewing Monster for a third season last October, Netflix’s official release did not include any mention of when the next season would arrive which made many fans think there could again be a two-year gap between seasons; however, it seems that will not be the case.

The letter not only touted many previously confirmed titles coming this year including new seasons of Wednesday, Stranger Things, Squid Game, and You, but also confirmed the next installment of Ryan Murphy’s Monster is also among the shows set to be released in 2025.

2024's tour de force "The Brutalist" has finally opened wide in the new year, letting audiences see the movie that /Film's Chris Evangelista called an "overwhelming triumph." (The film earns every syllable of that praise and more.) "They don't make movies like this anymore" is trite criticism but "The Brutalist" truly feels like something pulled out of the New Hollywood era; a sprawling epic about American identity and assimilation, like "The Godfather" if Marlon Brando's Vito Corleone was a Jewish architect instead of a mobster. There's even an intermission, a practice long discarded in most modern films.
Adrien Brody leads "The Brutalist" as László Tóth, a Holocaust survivor who comes to America. In the new world, László again finds work as an architect — specifically, in designing a custom community envisioned by an old-money industrialist (Guy Pearce). Brody, who has retreated from the A-list outside of his consistent work with Wes Anderson,...

Pacific Rim Uprising did not live up to the expectations set by the original film helmed by Guillermo del Toro, and while many were disappointed with how the project panned out, you’ll be more devastated to find out that we almost had Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams in the sequel film.

Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has created his own niche in Hollywood with a number of stellar stories. From The Shape of Water and the Hellboy franchise, del Toro has often shown an ability to create intense narratives, set in some surreal worlds.
The same was seen in Pacific Rim, which also exposed his meticulous approach to filmmaking. Kate Hawley, one of the costume designers on the movie, claimed the same. Hawley, who has worked on projects such as Crimson Peak and Mortal Engines, claimed that Pacific Rim was one of the messiest movies she ever worked on.

Years before Taylor Sheridan cast himself as Travis Wheatley on "Yellowstone," he was often seen butting heads with Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) and his beloved but regularly law-breaking biker gang in "Sons of Anarchy." Kurt Sutter's series, which mixed "Hamlet" with hogs, cast Sheridan as strait-laced Deputy Chief David Hale, a regular thorn in the side of Teller and his crew. For a while, at least.
Staring down the Sons for 21 episodes, Hale was abruptly killed off in the third episode of season 3 (one of the best seasons of "Sons of Anarchy") during a drive-by at a funeral. Like so many deaths on the show, his offing was visceral, assuring audiences that he was well and truly done. According to Sheridan, the exit was his choice, and it all came down to a matter of numbers, both on call sheets and contracts.

The members of the title motorcycle club in Sons of Anarchy aren’t exactly the most morally correct people, though many of them changed for the better, as is the case of Tig (Kim Coates), but he still shares an unfortunate yet fitting record with Jax (Charlie Hunnam). In 2008, Kurt Sutter took the audience to the fictional town of Charming, California, to meet the Sons of Anarchy motorcycle club (also known as Samcro), led by President Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) and VP Jax Teller. Throughout eight seasons, Samcro confronts various enemies, including some within the club.
Throughout his time as VP and President, Jax is accompanied by the club’s most loyal members, who follow him through many highs and lows. Among them is Tig Trager, Samcro’s Sergeant-at-Arms during Clay’s Presidency and thus his right hand, who at the end of Sons of Anarchy becomes the club’s VP.

Colin Farrell has done it all in his two-and-a-half decades-long career, stepping into roles ranging from supervillain to kind-hearted hero. In the world of independent film, Farrell has made himself a great reputation. He is a regular in the films of Yorgos Lanthimos and Martin McDonagh. Over the years, he has also earned several accolades for his roles.

In the show that warned us "Don't Dead, Open Inside," there were worse things at the end of the world than "The Walking Dead" and poor signage. One of the hit show's most terrifying characters was the Whisperers' disturbing number two, and eventual leader, Beta. Like the rest of his group, Beta sneakily shuffled onto the scene in Season 9 wearing the skin of the dead and taking things a little further than most in forgetting his existence before the outbreak. Devoted to his leader Alpha (Samantha Morton) as much as his keeping his true identity secret, Beta met a grisly and well-deserved ending at the hands of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and was a staple in delivering the scares besides the non-verbal bitey nuisances that plagued the end of the world.

American Horror Story is one of FX’s most successful series to date, airing for 12 cycles (and 132 episodes) since 2011 and winning 17 Emmys along the way. In January 2020, the cable network made the bold decision to renew Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk‘s horror anthology series for three more installments — Season 11, Season 12, and Season 13. That ensures the flagship show will be on our TV screens through at least the year 2025. Scary good!

A few weeks ago, Prime Video put out all six episodes of The Sticky, a terrific comedic/crime saga starring the great Margo Martindale as Ruth Landry, a Canadian maple syrup farmer who schemes to steal millions of dollars of maple syrup (it’s loosely based on an actual heist that took place in Quebec). Her co-stars in the show include Jamie Lee Curtis (who also produced the show with Jason Blum), as well as the great Chris Diamantopoulos, who’s been in loads of stuff over the years, including The Office, Silicon Valley, the movie version of The Three Stooges (he was Moe), Red One, and much more. He’s also the official voice of Mickey Mouse for Disney, a role which has netted him two Emmy nominations.

Nicholas Hoult continues to rise as one of the most exciting young actors in Hollywood, and while he has some exciting projects on the horizon, he has already built a strong career for himself. Hoult has been around for a while, considering his recognition came fairly early with the 2002 Hugh Grant comedy-drama, About a Boy. Since then, Hoult has starred in both independent features and big-budget blockbusters, finding success in most of them.
At only 32, his filmography is already filled with some of the best movies of the last 20 years. He has appeared in smaller independent movies while also taking part in some big franchise movies. He has played the heroic lead the audience roots for and has been just as effective as the chilling villain. With a number of high-profile movies on the horizon, including playing Lex Luthor in James Gunn's Superman, it is a perfect time to look back on Hoult's career.

It’s not an easy feat to craft a completely original sci-fi story. The genre has been around for years, after all, arguably since British author Mary Shelley published Frankenstein back in 1818. A lot of great sci-fi movies, books, and TV shows that have come out since then have left their mark, so much so that their echoes can be found in every corner of this particular genre still to this day.
Still, the fact that a sci-fi TV show or movie isn’t exactly as original as it could be doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not high quality, or that it doesn’t have anything to add to the larger sci-fi scene. There have been plenty of great stories that have taken their inspiration from pre-existing properties and added their own twist to it, amassing accolades and dedicated fans in the process.

Nearly 10 years after Sons of Anarchy's conclusion, Charlie Hunnam is finally starting to get promising roles after his performance as Jax Teller in the FX series. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Charlie Hunnam fatefully dipped his feet in acting after he was discovered by a production manager when he was 17. Soon after, he landed his first major role in Queer as Folk when he was 18, paving the way for him to explore bigger opportunities in film and television.
After playing myriad roles in several relatively lower-budget films and TV shows, Hunnam got his big break when he got the opportunity to play Jax Teller in FX's Sons of Anarchy. The critically acclaimed series soon made him a household name, highlighting his potential as a leading man. Strangely, however, even though Hunnam has played diverse roles in several renowned movie franchises and shows since Sons of Anarchy, none have been as iconic as Jax Teller.

We have some of the first photos of Charlie Hunnam as serial killer Ed Gein on the set of Ryan Murphy‘s new Monster series!
The photos were taken this week at a movie theater in Los Angeles, where it indicated the The Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie was being played. Perhaps the script sees serial killer Ed Gein watching the horror film.
Gein was known as the “Butcher of Plainfield.” He famously exhumed the bodies of dead people from local graveyards and made all sorts of items out of the skin and bones of the corpses. He also confessed to killing two women.
The first season of the show starred Evan Peters as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and the second season follows the Menendez brothers, who killed their parents. They are both available to stream on Netflix now.
Find out who else is in the cast of season three of the show!

Real-life serial killers have inspired countless films and TV shows. For instance, "Psycho," "The Texas Chainsaw Saw Massacre," and "The Silence of the Lambs" are all downstream from Ed Gein, the Wisconsin factotum who committed murder, grave robbery, and other grisly crimes during the mid-1950s. These may be great films but they are all strictly inspired by serial killers rather than about them. This article considers those films that depict killers' lives close to how they were rather than creating composite characters and other inventions. It also includes films that may not be entirely faithful to the historical record but are compelling enough to give an insight into real-world killers and their crimes.
These movies aim to capture balanced insight into their subjects. Some, like "Monster," show how abuse begets abuse, whereas others, such as "Citizen X," reflect how prejudice and ideology can allow a criminal to kill unchecked.

Sometimes I feel like it's so obvious to us viewers that a television show is bad or unncessary, and we wonder how it honestly could have been approved and made. Especially with all the hoops writers, producers, and the team have to go through to get a season order sometimes. But you know, sometimes there's just some bad TV that comes out, and we live with it. Here's 4 Netflix shows from 2024 that we think shouldn't have happened.
John P. Fleenor/Netflix © 2023 Unstable season 2
Not to be rude, but Unstable as a show in the first place shouldn't have happened. And the series definitely should not have gotten a season 2 at Netflix. Right from the start, this comedy was not funny at all. And to be quite frank, pretty boring. I'm a big fan of Rob Lowe so I got excited about this project, especially since the actor stars in it with his real-life son.

Charlie Hunnam will play one of America’s most known serial killers in the upcoming third season of Netflix’s anthology series “Monster,” providing viewers with a disturbing insight into Ed Gein’s life.
First-look photos show Hunnam’s stunning change. He recreates Gein’s 1950s demeanor with period-appropriate attire and a gray-tinted haircut. The actor walks comfortably on a city sidewalk, conversing with a police officer, his faint smile indicating the character’s depth.
The new season, titled “Monster: The Original Monster,” will delve into Gein’s dark past, concentrating on a criminal who captured the public imagination decades before true crime became a popular interest. While legally charged with two murders, Gein’s most heinous acts included grave robbing and body desecration—a legacy of horror that inspired Alfred Hitchcock’s famous film “Psycho.”
Hunnam is joined by a strong cast who add dimension to the historical narrative.

“The Penguin” might be over but there are a lot of shows about criminal dirtbags to help fill the void.
HBO’s spinoff of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman film didn’t really have any right to be as good as it was but award-contending performances by Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti helped make it one of the most talked about shows of 2024. You might be surprised by some of the roles that Charlie Hunnam came very close to booking.
The 44-year-old star has become a fan-favorite actor in Hollywood since making his debut in the ’90s. His popularity exploded with Sons of Anarchy in 2008. Since then, he’s starred in a variety of movies, the most recent being 2023′s Rebel Moon.
Like any actor, there have been some projects that Charlie auditioned for, which ultimately did not work out.
Over the years he’s opened up about six projects that he could have appeared in. Some of them he was offered and had to turn down. Others he did not book. The list includes two popular superheroes and roles in several other top-tier franchises.

Ryan Murphy has had great success churning out shows that tread the line between venerating and indicting well-known serial killers. The prolific writer/director/producer has many series to his name, but none courted quite so much controversy as the Netflix series "Monster," the first season of which became notorious for its depiction of Jeffrey Dahmer's despicable crimes. Unfortunately, the awkwardly-titled "Dahmer -- Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" actually had the effect of retraumatizing one particular victim's family. Still, the show's contentious nature only helped propel its popularity, and a second season was quickly greenlit. When season 2 of "Monsters" dropped, it once again had people upset with Murphy for a familiar reason, even while the true crime anthology saw Murphy take over Netflix's top charts.
When a new season of "Monster" drops then, two things are for sure. Everybody is going to be very upset, and everybody is going...

BBC Sets Feature On Fire At Bradford Soccer Match
The BBC is making a feature doc about a tragic fire at a Bradford soccer match that preceded the Hillsborough disaster. On the 40th anniversary of the tragedy, the BBC said Unforgotten: The Bradford City Fire (working title) will provide “the definitive record of a forgotten tragedy, as told through the compelling personal testimony of those who were there, many of whom speak here for the first time.” The fire is believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette or match at half time of Bradford City’s game with Lincoln City in 1985. The number of lives lost reached 56 and the event made headlines around the world but has since been somewhat forgotten, overshadowed by the Hillsborough disaster that took place four years later. Simon Young, BBC Head of Commissioning, History, said: “This film gets at the heart of a modern dilemma.

As it turns out, Monster season 3 (which is apparently called The Original Monster) was very close to starting production when that announcement was made, because Hunnam has now been spotted on the set of the show in his Gein wardrobe!

AHS Zone shared a photo of Hunnam on X, which appears to show the actor smiling on the set of the Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan-created anthology. The photo is accompanied by a real-life, black-and-white image of Gein. In the set photo, Hunnam looks somewhat aged. He has short, gray hair which is combed over.

The world of Sons of Anarchy expanded with the spinoff TV series Mayans M.C., and thanks to it, one Sons of Anarchy character appeared in more episodes than Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam). Although Sons of Anarchy gave closure to its main characters and left a more optimistic future for the title motorcycle club, there were still more stories from this world to be explored. The spinoff series Mayans M.C. changed the setting to the fictional border town of Santo Padre to follow the title Mc, but some characters from Sons of Anarchy have made appearances in it.
Sons of Anarchy told the story of Jax Teller, who went from being the clubs VP to its President, though not exactly one whose reign benefited the club. Jaxs issues with other clubs, as well as his family problems, led to his death at the end of Sons of Anarchy, leaving SAMCROs presidency...

Throughout seven seasons, Sons of Anarchy had a variety of villains with different reasons to destroy Samcro, but its weirdest one returned seven years later in the spinoff series Mayans M.C., and he was even worse. Sons of Anarchy arrived in 2008 to take the audience to the fictional town of Charming, California, to meet the title motorcycle club, led by President Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) and VP Jackson Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam). Sons of Anarchy focused on Jaxs efforts to bring his late fathers vision for the club to life, but he ended up having to change this plan.
Jax also wanted to keep the club afloat while also dealing with a lot of family trauma, which led him to make some questionable decisions throughout Sons of Anarchy. Jax and Samcro earned many enemies over the years, going from the leaders of other gangs and clubs to Atf agents and more.
