Joyce's father was in the U.S. Navy. While he was stationed at Bainbridge, Maryland, Joyce was in high school, and modeled in New York during the summer. She later became a print model for Eileen Ford Agency, and appeared as Miss General Tire, in the Sears Catalog, and many other assignments.

Has two sons, Derek and Tyler.

Created a ministry to feed homeless families at the Little Brown Church in Studio City called the Darrell and Joyce Fetty Food Pantry.
