- Jewish-American actor, standup comedian and voice actor best known for his dry wit and deadpan delivery which culminated in the role of Arthur P. Dietrich on the popular TV sitcom Barney Miller (1975).
- When Steve Landesberg appeared as a stand-up comedian, he would bring out a small tape recorder at the beginning of his act, start it recording, place it on a tall stool next to him on stage, and say, "This is in case I come up with something NEW!".
- When he died on December 20, 2010, his obituaries said he was 65. It was later revealed by his family that he was actually 74. He had taken nine years off of his age because he was worried comedy clubs would not hire an older comedian.
