Doug Magee
- Writer

- Director
Doug Magee was born in Rome, N.Y., and all roads led out of Rome for him. He went to Amherst College and Union Theological Seminary and has lived in New York City's East Harlem all his adult life. He came to screenwriting through political activism (he is opposed to the death penalty), photography, and non-fiction book writing. His first book, Slow Coming Dark: Interviews on Death Row, led eventually to his first produced screenplay, Somebody Has To Shoot The Picture, which drew on his work as both a photographer and journalist. Several of his other films were based on work he did in the criminal justice arena prior to taking up his screenwriting pen.
Doug is also a novelist. His first two novels were Never Wave Goodbye and Darkness All Around, both suspense novels published by Simon and Schuster. His latest novel is a political satire titled President Blog.
