Globoplay, the streaming platform of Latin American TV giant Globo, has picked up Brazilian rights to police noir thriller series “Motel Valkirias,” a Spain-Portugal co-production handled by Onza Distribution.

Created by Ghaleb Jaber Martínez, writer-producer of Netflix’s Galician TV drama hit “O Sabor das Margaridas,” the series is directed by Álex Sampaio (Schibare”) and Jorge Quiroga (“Atras das Nuvens”).

In post-production, the eight episode 50-minute “Motel Valkirias” is set in a cross-border motel between Galicia and Portugal, following three women with financial and personal problems who get in serious danger after joining forces to get their hands on some valuable merchandise from a guest in the motel.

Gerry Fenn (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a disgraced journalist turned stringer-for-hire, of supernatural tabloid fodder, is sent to investigate a strange occurrence in a small farming community. A born sceptic, Fenn quickly dismisses the incident as just another benign story. There’s the germ of a provocative idea in “The Unholy” — namely, what if you took a religious-visitation movie like “The Song of Bernadette” or “The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima” and turned it into a horror movie? Had the film bothered, or dared, to pursue that notion to the fullest, “The Unholy” might be something other than the standard-issue, priests-versus-demonic-spirits thriller that it is.

While he's been busy playing Negan on AMC's The Walking Dead the past five years, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has still been playing plenty of roles on the big screen, including his role as a journalist in the religious horror movie The Unholy, which is featured in a new trailer ahead of its April 2nd theatrical release from Sony Pictures.

Written and directed by Evan Spiliotopoulos, produced by Sam Raimi, and based on James Herbert's novel Shrine, The Unholy stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Katie Aselton, William Sadler, Cricket Brown, Diogo Morgado, and Cary Elwes.

"The Unholy follows Alice, a young hearing-impaired girl who, after a supposed visitation from the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, speak and heal the sick. As word spreads and people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, a disgraced journalist (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) hoping to revive his career visits the small New England town to investigate.

Sony Pictures released the first trailer for its horror film “The Unholy,” in which Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays a journalist investigating a supernatural case involving the divine.

In “The Unholy,” a hearing-impaired woman claims she was visited by the Virgin Mary who made her able to hear, speak and heal the sick. The phenomenon draws people from near and far, but soon, Morgan’s character realizes that there’s something more sinister is at play.

The film is produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Evan Spiliotopoulos, who also write and directed the film that is based on James Herbert’s best-selling book “Shrine.” Andrea Ajemian and Romel Adam are executive producing.

Katie Aselton, William Sadler, Cricket Brown with Diogo Morgado and Cary Elwes also star.

“The Unholy” will be released on Easter weekend.

Netflix has unveiled an official trailer for a Brazilian western titled O Matador, telling the story of Cabeleira, a feared killer living in the countryside of Pernambuco State in the 1840's. Diogo Morgado stars as Cabeleira, a gunman who goes looking for his missing mentor but ends up working for a ruthless French land baron as a hired assassin. And that’s a wrap – the lone question mark remaining on The CW’s lineup has been resolved, with word that freshman apocalyptic drama The Messengers will not be returning for a second season.

Lukewarm reviews and paltry ratings made cancellation very likely for the show, which followed a group of individuals tasked with tracking down the Devil himself and preventing the long-foretold end of days. This review is based off the first episode of season 1, which was provided to us prior to broadcast.

If Supernatural and Smallville had a brief affair, their love child would be the pilot episode of The Messengers. Between the plain-clothed Lucifer-esque character spinning his own agenda and the other worldly imagery, it certainly appears to be a marriage between some of the more interesting parts of both long-lived (living) shows.

“Awakening” serves primarily as a meet-and-greet type episode, not unlike the format viewers would expect to see from any series debut. With promos for the latest CW show giving potential fans a fairly accurate portrayal of what they can look forward to on this Friday’s premiere, it’s the details more than the high points that are what sets this show apart from the rest of the network’s existing lineup.

The CW set premiere dates for new dramas “iZombie” and “The Messengers” on Sunday. The network also announced a return date for “Supernatural,” which will now move to a new night.

“iZombie,” starring Rose McIver as a recently turned zombie who eats brains and helps solve crimes, premieres on Tuesday, March 17 at 9 p.m.. Apocalyptic drama “The Messengers” premieres Friday, April 10 at 9 p.m., just after the series premiere of “Cedric’s Barber Battle” at 8 p.m. and the season premiere of improv comedy show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?...

"I know there are some scenes that are pretty graphic," Kelsey told Et. "I think the beheading of John the Baptist is pretty serious."

Killing Jesus is based on the bestselling book by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard, which centers on the history and conspiracy surrounding Jesus' life and death.

"He was very intense and confrontational at the end of his life," Bill told Et. "Jesus was a revolutionary. He really was angry, but it was a righteous anger."

Kelsey, who describes himself as a religious man, said his faith had nothing to do with his decision to play the part.

"I read the part and thought, 'Wow, I'm gone by page 8, I think. Ok, why not?'" Kelsey said.

The Messengers, one of the CW's midseason shows, tells the story of five strangers affected when a mysterious object hits Earth. After collapsing, all five individuals come back to life just hours later with inexplicable powers, including strength and the power to heal. But once things begin to become more clear, those affected realize that they might be Earth's only hope for stopping the Rapture ... or perhaps, they're causing it. The Messengers currently stars Shantel VanSanten, Jon Fletcher, Sofia Black-d'Elia, Jd Pardo, Joel Courtney, Anna Diop, and Diogo Morgado. And now, EW has learned exclusively that two others have joined the mix.

American TV star Diogo Morgado follows in the footsteps of Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ) and Willem Dafoe (The Last Temptation of Christ) to play Jesus in this reverential retelling of the Greatest Story Ever Told. From his humble birth through his teachings, crucifixion and ultimate resurrection we meet the disciples as well as Noah, Samson and Moses.

The nominees for the 29th Annual Imagen Awards, honoring portrayals of Latinos and Latino cultures in television and film, have been announced and Diego Luna's "Cesar Chavez" is up for four awards:

The CW announced its fall schedule today and we've got word on when you can catch all your favorite genre television featured on the channel.

"Supernatural" can be found where it is today: Tuesdays from 9:00-10:00 pm. The CW’s highest-rated series "The Vampire Diaries" stays on Thursdays, still from 8:00-9:00p.m.

New shows "The Messengers" and "iZombie" won't debut until mid-season, 2015.

The CW’s new fall schedule is here. You’ll notice it looks a lot like the current one. Most shows are staying where they are, with some exceptions to accommodate new titles and a couple returning favorites getting pushed to midseason.

The first big addition is The Flash, starring Grant Gustin as the fastest man alive, which will air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. The Arrow spin-off will lead into the 10th season of Supernatural. The CW has ordered a new supernatural drama for 2014-15 called The Messengers.

Created by Eoghan O'Donnell, the show's cast includes Craig Frank, Diogo Morgado, Joel Courtney, Jon Fletcher, Shantel VanSanten, and Sofia Black-d'Elia.

Here's the network description:

The Messengers - When a mysterious object crashes down to Earth, a group of seemingly unconnected strangers dies from the energy pulse. But then they awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse.

No word on how many episodes have been ordered or when the series will start airing. We should know more in the coming week.

CW is bringing back three fan favorites and ordering a pair of comic-book inspired dramas for fall.

Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie will make a comeback, as will the freshman drama The 100. They join the previously announced renewals of Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Arrow and Reign.

CW also picked up four new series in anticipation of its fall presentation to advertisers next week. They are The Flash, Jane the Virgin, iZombie, and The Messengers. Here are the official descriptions of the new dramas:

The life of Christ is immortalized on film again in Son of God.

The movie is from the same team behind the three-Emmy Award nominated History Channel miniseries The Bible, including director/co-writer Christopher Spencer, co-writers Richard Bedser (Gettysburg), Colin Swash (TV’s The Queen) and Nic Young (Saving Ronald Reagan). Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado (Miami Blue) also portrays Jesus in both.

Son of God follows the Gospel of John’s telling of Christ’s life and includes a score by Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Hans Zimmer (12 Years a Slave).

Like The Passion of Christ, this PG-13 religious film wowed moviegoers more than critics, getting 76% approval compared to 22%, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Son of God grossed a respectable $60 million in theaters.
