Netflix has debuted the trailer for their latest animated effort, “Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld,” a supernatural action series starring Ali Wong (Birds of Prey, “Paper Girls”).

“Jentry Chau vs. The Underwold” premieres on Netflix on December 5, 2024.

Wong executive produces the 13-episode series, from first-time show-runner Echo Wu, alongside Aron Eli Coleite (“Locke & Key”).

The series follows “Jentry Chau (voiced by Wong), a Chinese-American teen living in a small Texas town, who finds out a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she’s been working her whole life to repress. With the help of her weapons expert great-aunt and a millennia-old jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampire), Jentry must now fight an entire underworld’s worth of monsters while balancing the horrors of high school.”

Ali Wong is back on Netflix — at least, her voice is.

The “Beef” Emmy winner and “Single Lady” headliner executive produces and voice acts in the upcoming 13-episode animated series “Jentry Chau vs the Underworld,” premiering on the streamer December 5. Joining her in the voice cast are Bowen Yang, Lori Tan Chinn, Lucy Liu, Jimmy O. Yang, Sheng Wang, Woosung Kim, and A.J. Beckles. Netflix released the first trailer November 14.

The official logline reads: “The series follows Jentry Chau (voiced by Ali Wong), a Chinese-American teen living in a small Texas town, who finds out a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she’s been working her whole life to repress. It seems that ‘Scavengers Reign’ will not be getting a second season for now —neither Netflix nor Max will pick it up. The sad news was delivered by Joseph Bennett, the sci-fi series’ co-creator, on Instagram.

Today, Prime Video announced that everyone’s favorite band of misfits will return to save the realm once more with a season four renewal of The Legend of Vox Machina.

The news, which Critical Role revealed in a new video, comes ahead of the season three finale. All three seasons have remained consistent with a score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

“The fantastic team at Critical Role and Titmouse continues to deliver captivating seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina, and we are excited for more to come,” said Melissa Wolfe, head of animation at Amazon MGM Studios.

The renewal announcement comes just ahead of the third season finale of the animated series, which drops on Prime Video on Oct. 24.

The series, which is set to premiere on Comedy Central on September 25, has unveiled a swathe of guest stars including Ayo Edebiri, Sally Jessy Raphael and Busta Rhymes.

The continuing — and now animated — story of Chris Rock’s life will return to TV in September.

Comedy Central has set a Sept. 25 premiere date for Everybody Still Hates Chris, an animated series based on the Upn/CW sitcom Everybody Hates Chris. The cable network has also released a first look at the animated Rock family (which is at the top of this page).

As with the live-action comedy, which ran from 2005-09, Everybody Still Hates Chris will feature Rock narrating stories from his life growing up in Brooklyn. Tichina Arnold and Terry Crews will reprise their roles as Rochelle and Julius, Chris’ parents. Tim Johnson Jr. plays the young Chris, and Terrence Little Gardenhigh and Ozioma Akagha voice his siblings, Drew and Tonya. Gunnar Sizemore plays Greg, Chris’ only friend at school.

CBS Studios (via its animation arm, Eye Animation Productions) produces the series with Chris Rock Enterprises and 3 Arts Entertaiment.

Chris Rock will once again narrate the story of his life.

The comedian will be part of the voice cast of Everybody Still Hates Chris, an animated series based on the critically acclaimed Upn/CW comedy Everybody Hates Chris. As with the original, Rock will narrate the show — which is set to premiere on Comedy Central later this year — as his adult self, looking back at events from his childhood.

Expect to hear some familiar voices on “Everybody Still Hates Chris,” Comedy Central’s upcoming animated take on the hit 2000s live action comedy “Everybody Hates Chris.” That includes star and executive producer Chris Rock, who narrated the original series and will do the same in the new version.

The new “Beavis and Butt-Head” series has been renewed for Season 3, but at a new network.

While the first two seasons of the revived series are available on Paramount+, the second season will debut on Comedy Central on July 10. The third season will also air first on Comedy Central. Production is already underway on the third season, which is slated for a 2025 debut.

In addition, the revival film “Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe” will air on Comedy Central on July 3 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt.

Interestingly, when the new series was first announced in 2020, it was reported that it would air on Comedy Central with a two-season order. “Do the Universe” instead debuted on Paramount+ in 2022, with the new seasons dropping in 2022 and 2023.

Ahead of its Season 2 premiere, MTV Entertainment Studios has renewed Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head for a third seaon, it was announced today. Production is already underway on Season 3 of the adult animated series for premiere on Comedy Central in 2025.

Season 2 of the series starring the dynamic duo is set to premiere Wednesday, July 10 at 10 Pm on Comedy Central. Additionally, the critically acclaimed film Beavis and Butt-Head Do The Universe, which originally premiered on Paramount+, will also make its Comedy Central debut on Wednesday, July 3 at 10 Pm.

Having originally premiered in 1993, Emmy-winning creator Mike Judge has cemented Beavis and Butt-Head as cornerstones in adult animation.

Beavis and Butt-Head are set for more wild adventures. Comedy Central has renewed “Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head” for Season 3, which will air on the network in 2025, TheWrap has learned.

Additionally, the second season of the series — which streamed on Paramount+ — will make its broadcast premiere on Comedy Central on July 10 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt. The broadcast premiere of the 2022 Paramount+ film “Beavis and Butt-Head Do The Universe” will take place on July 3 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt.

The Beavis and Butt-Head duo, who are voiced by Judge, first appeared in his 1992 short film “Frog Baseball,” which was broadcast by MTV’s animation showcase “Liquid Television.”

After MTV commissioned a full series around the characters, “Beavis and Butt-Head” ran for seven seasons, from March 8, 1993 to Nov. 28, 1997. The series was revived in 2011 with an eighth season airing on MTV, and then revived again in 2022 with the Paramount+ series “Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head.

Netflix has greenlit a new adult animated series titled “The Undervale.”

The show hails from creator and showrunner Matt Roller. The official logline states, “A single mother of two struggles to run a haunted hotel with the help of her estranged brother, who is now one of the ghosts and thinks the other ghosts have some pretty good ideas.”

Along with Roller, Chris McKenna also executive produces along with Dan Harmon and Steve Levy. Erica Hayes is the supervising director. Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina of Titmouse will executive produce, with Titmouse providing the animation.

Scavengers Reign will not continue on Max any longer.

The animated sci-fi series has been canceled by the streamer after one season. The first season will remain on Max, though it will also begin streaming on Netflix beginning May 31.

Scavengers Reign is about the surviving crew of a damaged deep space freighter who are stranded on a beautiful yet unforgiving planet. They begin to learn the true nature of this planet as they try to survive long enough to escape or be rescued.

Season 1 debuted on Max in October. The series is co-created and executive produced by animators, writers, and directors Joe Bennett and Charles Huettner.

Beginning on May 31, Season 1 of the animated sci-fi drama will begin streaming on Netflix in the U.S., the U.K., Ireland and New Zealand. The Netflix deal is non-exclusive, meaning the episodes will remain available on Max. Sources tell Variety that Netflix is considering picking up “Scavengers Reign” for a second season, but a decision won’t be made until after Season 1’s debut on the streamer.

The series is set on an alien planet where a damaged interstellar freighter ship gets stranded and follows the remaining crew as they struggle to locate their ship and missing crewmates while navigating a hostile world that has thrived without human interference.

Exclusive: Will Carsola of Liquid Death announced a new animated venture, The Adventures of Murder Man. Carsola will direct, and pen the script along with Mike Cessario. Stew Herrera, Miatta Lebile, Jill Jilbertson, Dave Stewart, and Carsola, will be lending their voices to the project.

The story follows Murder Man, a mysterious vigilante, doing what he does best: wreaking havoc and murdering thirsts with his bloodstained battle ax. With eyeballs for nipples and an aluminum can for a head, The Adventures of Murder Man will uncover how he discovers his past and tries to reunite with his family from before he was forced into becoming a vigilante, by Liquid Death’s CEO.

The project is produced by Titmouse, the animation studio behind Big Mouth and the Academy Award Nominated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Titmouse animated titles also include Beavis and Butt-Head, Metalocalypse, and The Venture Bros.

Comedy Central has handed a 10-episode order to Golden Axe, a new animated series based on the popular Sega video game. Produced by CBS Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television and Original Film, Golden Axe voice cast is led by Emmy winner Matthew Rhys (The Americans), Danny Pudi (Mythic Quest), Lisa Gilroy (Jury Duty), Liam McIntyre (Spartacus) and Carl Tart (Grand Crew).

Described as a hilarious and loving homage to Sega’s 1989 video game series, Golden Axe, from exec producers Mike McMahon and Joe Chandler, follows veteran warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead as they once again battle to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder who just won’t seem to stay dead. Fortunately, this time they have the inexperienced and underprepared Hampton Squib on their side.

Rhys will play Gilius Thunderhead, a grumpy battle dwarf with exceptionally poor hygiene and a chip on his shoulder.

A “Golden Axe” animated series has been greenlit at Comedy Central, Variety has learned.

Based on the beloved Sega games of the same name, the show hails from co-creators Mike McMahan and Joe Chandler. Matthew Rhys, Danny Pudi, Lisa Gilroy, Liam McIntyre, and Carl Tart will lead the voice cast.

Comedy Central has ordered 10 episodes. The official description of the series states the show “follows veteran warriors Ax Battler (McIntyre), Tyris Flare (Gilroy), and Gilius Thunderhead (Rhys) as they once again battle to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder who just won’t seem to stay dead. Animation workers at Harriet the Spy studio Titmouse New York have ratified their first union contract.

One hundred percent of the bargaining unit voted to greenlight the agreement, which was reached by union negotiators and management on April 26. The groundbreaking union — The Animation Guild’s first outside of Los Angeles County since the signing of its charter in 1952 — is composed of around 113 workers including directors, storyboard artists, prop designers and 3-D modelers, among others. The agreement marks Tag’s first contract ratification outside L.A. County.

AppleTV+ has unveiled its kids’ and family summer slate, which features new Peanuts content coming to the streamer this summer alongside its returning series.

The new Peanuts content includes the third season of “The Snoopy Show,” which premieres on June 9, and “Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie,” a special that follows “endearing introvert Marcie as she helps her friends in her own unique way” which premieres on August 18.

Exclusive: There’s more adventures to unearth over at Comedy Central. The network has renewed its adult comedy series from Andy Samberg Digman! for a second season.

The renewal news comes as the Season 1 finale is set to premiere on May 10. Digman! is Samberg’s first television series, which he created along with co-creator and showrunner Neil Campbell.

The half-hour animated series Digman! is set in a world where archaeologists are massive celebrities and the coolest people on the planet, with Samberg starring as Rip Digman.

The main cast also features the voices of Mitra Jouhari, Tim Robinson, Dale Soules, Guz Khan, Melissa Fumero and Tim Meadows.
