- Tall, latterly balding character actor with stage experience in both Ireland and England. Spent five seasons with the Gate Theatre in Dublin in the mid-1940's. In England from 1950, including a spell with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Small roles in film, usually as well-bred authority figures, judges or professors. Enjoyed more substantial roles on the small screen, particularly in miniseries, such as The Forsyte Saga (1967).
- Was a possible for the cameo role of Sezom in The Horns of Nimon: Part Four (1980). John Bailey was cast.
