The CW Network, in partnership with CBC, today announced it has renewed the hit series Wild Cards for an expanded 13-episode second season. The second season will debut on The CW in the U.S. and CBC in Canada in 2025.

The procedural, starring Vanessa Morgan (Riverdale) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy), is the network’s #1 new series in 2024 in total audience viewing, according to Nielsen.

Wild Cards starring Riverdale‘s Vanessa Morgan and Reign‘s Giacomo Gianniotti will make its primetime debut on The CW on January 17, 2024. Described as a crime-solving procedural with a comedic twist, episode one – “The Infinity Thief” – introduces Gianniotti as a cop forced to team up with a con artist, played by Morgan.

Season one episodes will air on Wednesdays at 8pm Et/Pt.

Morgan stars as Max Mitchell, Gianniotti plays Cole Ellis, Terry Chen is Chief Li, and Jason Priestley is George. Season also stars Michael Xavier as Detective Simmons, Amy Goodmurphy as Detective Yates, Fletcher Donovan as Ricky, and Jonesy as Marc.

Wild Cards was created by Michael Konyves who also executive produces. Additional executive producers include Konyves, James Genn, Shawn Piller, Lloyd Segan, and writers Alexandra Zarowny, James Thorpe, Noelle Carbone, and Morwyn Brebner.

Hallmark’s canceled western “Ride,” starring Nancy Travis (“Last Man Standing”) is galluping to The CW, which picked up repeats of the show to air next month. The 10-episode series will launch on Monday, January 22 at 8 p.m., paired with “Wild Cards” at 9 p.m.

“Ride” is described as “a multigenerational family drama that follows the lives of the McMurrays, a tight-knit family that embarks on a journey of self-discovery on the heels of a tragic loss as they uncover a twisted web of secrets that threatens to tear the family and their Colorado town apart.” Beau Mirchoff, Tiera Skovbye, Sara Garcia, Jake Foy and Tyler Jacob Moore also star.

Ride will ride again on the CW.

The network announced today that it picked up the 10-episode first season of the Yellowstone-like drama that starred Nancy Travis (Last Man Standing). The series, which follows a bucolic but cash-strapped ranch that’s operated by a widowed parent (Travis) who loses a beloved family member, was recently canceled by Hallmark.

The CW will begin airing the series on Monday, January 22, followed by an encore episode of the new original scripted series Wild Cards.

The network has no plans to order a second season of Ride, at least for now.

Travis plays matriarch Isabel Murray; the drama also stars Beau Mirchoff (Good Trouble), Jake Foy (Designated Survivor) and Marcus Rosner (Arrow) as her sons Cash, Tuff and Austin. Tiera Skovbye plays Austin’s wife, Missy. The first season launched in March on Hallmark.

The CW is bulking up its roster of scripted series — and again looking north of the border for its two latest shows.

The Nexstar-owned broadcast network has ordered dramas titled Wild Cards and Sight Unseen, targeting both for premieres in 2024. Wild Cards, starring Riverdale alum Vanessa Morgan and Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy, Reign), is a co-production between The CW and Canada’s CBC, while Sight Unseen is in partnership with Bell Media’s CTV. Both are produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures; Sight Unseen is also produced by Sisters Troubetzkoy Productions.

The CW has ordered two scripted series set to premiere in the fall of 2024: crime-solving dramas “Wild Cards” and “Sight Unseen.”

“Wild Cards” is a procedural starring two alumni of the CW: Vanessa Morgan (“Riverdale”) and Giacomo Gianniotti (“Reign”). Ellis (Giannioti) is a gruff, sardonic cop demoted from his role as a detective fown to the maritime unit, while Max (Morgan) is a spirited, clever con woman living a transient life and scamming everyone she meets. When Max gets arrested and ends up helping Ellis solve a local crime, the two are offered the opportunity to redeem themselves, with Ellis going back to detective and Max staying out of jail if they can learn to trust each other and work together.
