Two years after we last reported on the film, the horror-comedy You Can't Kill Stephen King is making its way to DVD on December 9th.

The film was written by Monroe Mann, Ronnie Khalil, and Bob Madia and was directed by Mann, Khalil, and Jorge Valdes-Iga. The cast includes Crystal Arnette, Kayle Blogna, Kate Costello, and Justin Brown.

One summer, a group of friends make a clueless and ill-fated decision to visit the lake where horror author Stephen King lives. Upon arrival, they are greeted by unfriendly townspeople who hate noise and tom-foolery almost as much as they hate uninvited guests and questions about their most famous resident.

In early 2012, I saw the trailer for a campy movie called You Can’t Kill Stephen King about a group of young people vacationing near the author’s summer home who get killed off one at a time. The trailer promises a horror movie that breaks all the rules…by not breaking any. The project is described in tongue-in-cheek fashion: six stereotypical characters with weak story arcs, a town full of overacting antagonists, low-budget gratuitous violence and cheesy King references.

The nucleus of the story was written several years ago by Monroe Mann—an alumnus of the Fryeburg Academy in western Maine, whose staff was also involved in the production—and stand-up comedian Ronnie Khalil while they were vacationing in the lake house ultimately used in the film. Camelot Entertainment Group announced today that Camelot Distribution Group has acquired worldwide all-media rights for the horror-comedy You Can't Kill Stephen King, which will screen at the Marche Du Film in Cannes, France on May 17th.

Produced by Loco Dawn Films and Clownfish Productions, the film follows a group of friends in search of Stephen King.

A call for cast and crew made today landed on our radar and involves a film prepping to shoot in Maine this August. Monroe Mann, of Unstoppable Artists, is looking for key players in a "story centers around Stephen King. No more can be said about the story at this time except that it is unique, with a concept that everyone seems to like and a fun twist ending," says the announcement. Mann breaks down what he's looking for (right down to the cup size on his actresses?!) at the Rhode Island Film Collaborative site . So, with scant details to go on, what can we expect from the film?
