Who doesn’t love a festive holiday tradition? The Christmas tree has been trimmed, stockings have been hung, the elf is sitting on his shelf and, once again, people are debating whether “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” is a song about rape. Every December, the Internet serves up a fresh batch of hot takes about Frank Loesser’s 1944 jazz standard, a classic recipe for clickbait controversy that’s guaranteed to draw a crowd. Dozens of articles are published each year.

The suicide of Joe Bodolai, the comedy veteran who killed himself in Los Angeles over the holiday weekend, has sparked conversation amongst his former colleagues, friends and those on the web wishing to chime in, for better or worse.
Bodolai's suicide does not come as a surprise to some of his friends and former colleagues.
The former "Saturday Night Live" writer and "Kids In The Hall" producer, friend and Canadian comedy collaborator Mark Breslin told the Toronto Globe and Mail, "was a pretty unhappy guy." Further, Breslin said, "I think he was a victim of the ageism in the comedy business and show business, especially in Los Angeles."
In his final blog post, which has been taken as a sort of suicide note, Bodolai lists "Leaving Canada" and "Moving to Los Angeles" as two of his primary regrets.

Former "Saturday Night Live" writer Joe Bodolai, who co-wrote the 1992 hit film "Wayne's World," has died of an apparent suicide, according to TMZ. He was 63.
A respected comedian and writer, the Canadian Bodolai was well known north of the border for his producing work on shows like "Kids in the Hall" and "Comics!' as well as for his stint as a writer on "Saturday Night Live." But it was his collaboration with fellow Canadian Mike Meyers that earned Bodolai his greatest triumph, as the two paired up to write the first draft of what would eventually become one of the breakout smashes of the 1990s.
It was an accomplishment which Bodolai was justly proud of; just days before his death, in a posting on his website, he listed writing "Wayne's World" as one of the highlights of his life despite the fact that Meyers later rew-rote the script with Bonnie and Terry Turner.
