Johnny Rainer Allan is a BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated writer and director. He is lead Director on all three seasons of the hit Amazon Original THE DEVIL'S HOUR starring Jessica Raine and Peter Capaldi.
He trained at the National Film and Television School, and while still a student he won the Gold Audience Award at Fantasia, was nominated by The Academy as a Student Academy Awards finalist, the Audience award at Poitiers, and was nominated for an Iris Prize for best LGBQT+ filmmaking.
He then went on to direct Mammoth Screen's hit TV Series ENDEAVOUR and Netflix Original THE IRREGULARS, which reached Number 1 both on Netflix, but also on the Nielsen rankings as the most watched show on any network, or streamer worldwide, then Bodkin which also was a Number 1 Original on Netflix. This also lead to a BAFTA Scotland nomination as Best Fiction Director and him becoming a Screen International Star of Tomorrow.
Johnny Allan is writing HIGH WINDOWS for FX with JOJO IWAKUMA, pharmaceutical thriller NUMB for 7stories and is adapting Pulitzer Prize winning writer Karen Russell's novella SLEEP DONATION for television with Laura Deeley (OZARK),
