It's an understatement to say that, during his time as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry Potter — played on-screen by Daniel Radcliffe — gets into a ton of trouble. What's unfair about this is that, to Harry's credit, it's not usually his fault; as a baby, he managed to reverse a killing curse upon the Dark Lord Voldemort (eventually played by Ralph Fiennes in the film franchise) and created a deadly lifelong rivalry, which he certainly didn't intend to do. Throughout his first few years at Hogwarts, Voldemort, who hasn't yet returned to his corporeal form, employs a few tricks — from a haunted diary to an old henchman to a possessed professor — to try and attack Harry, but there's not much he can do without a body. This is all to say that in the fourth book and film, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," Voldemort...

Actor Tom Felton appears in a reunion photo that features several Harry Potter cast members alongside actors from the Fantastic Beasts films. Based on the novels by J.K. Rowling, the Harry Potter series made its debut in 2001 and concluded its run in 2011 with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. The Fantastic Beasts franchise, which explores the world decades before the events of Harry Potter, continues to expand. So far, three of the planned five films have been released, with the latest, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, hitting theaters in 2022.
The Draco Malfoy actor took to Instagram to share the reunion photo. The post includes actors from both Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, such as Devon Murray, who played Gryffindor classmate Seamus Finnegan, Scarlett Hefner, who played Slytherin Pansy Parkinson, Stanislav Yanevski, who played Durmstrang's Viktor Krum, and Louis Cordice, who played Slytherin Blaise Zabini. The Harry Potter franchise introduced several characters over the course of time. Beyond the three primary characters— Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger— the hit film series also provided several memorable characters and they have all been crucial to the movies in the franchise.

Robert Pattinson has built an impressive career in Hollywood, working with many top actors in the industry. However, there was one co-star that he once admitted was “quite intimidating.”
Despite his success since his days in the Harry Potter franchise, Pattinson revealed that working with Emma Watson was a daunting experience for him. Their on-screen chemistry may have been strong, but behind the scenes, Pattinson was in awe of Watson’s talent and presence.

"Kill him and get the girl!" Saban Films has released an official trailer for an action thriller titled Last Man Down, the second feature made by Swedish filmmaker Fansu Njie. It opens direct-to-vod starting in October, and this really does look like direct-to-video quality. Daniel Stisen stars as John Wood, who left the pieces of a broken civilization behind after a virus pandemic, to go back to his roots in the woodlands. Years later a wounded woman appears on his doorstep, claiming to have escaped from a lab because they believe her blood is the key to a worldwide cure. The film also stars Olga Kent, Daniel Nehme, Stanislav Yanevski, Madeleine Vall, and Natassia Malthe. This definitely looks like a macho woodsman badass takes-on-the-government-assholes kind of film, which might actually be entertaining to watch? Lock 'n load. James and Oliver Phelps — that’s Fred and George Weasley — still hang out with their Harry Potter costars nearly 7 years after the release of the final film.
Some of their pals are to be expected — their movie brother Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and fellow Gryffindor Luke Youngblood (Lee Jordan) — but others cross some serious Potterverse allegiances. “I guess the normal shock for people is seeing us tee it up with Malfoy himself Tom Felton,” Oliver told People ahead of Universal Orlando’s A Celebration of Harry Potter this weekend. “Whenever we are in the same city we’ll meet up...

Looking back on this still-young century makes clear that 2007 was a major time for cinematic happenings — and, on the basis of this retrospective, one we’re not quite through with ten years on. One’s mind might quickly flash to a few big titles that will be represented, but it is the plurality of both festival and theatrical premieres that truly surprises: late works from old masters, debuts from filmmakers who’ve since become some of our most-respected artists, and mid-career turning points that didn’t necessarily announce themselves as such at the time. Join us as an assembled team, many of whom were coming of age that year, takes on their favorites.

The Harry Potter books are full of all kinds of good stuff: magic, murder, and raging hormones. It was in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire — the fourth book in the series, for those not in the know — that it became all too clear that Ron and Hermione had a thing for each other. Rather than ask her to the Yule Ball, Ron simply waited, expecting that he could ask Hermione out at the last minute. Obviously, the kid was wrong, and Hermione ended up going to the ball with Durmstrang student and Quidditch badass, Viktor Krum.
This is one-sided “love triangle” of sorts (where Ron is intimidated by Viktor, and Viktor doesn’t even know Ron exists) that’s pretty much contained to the fourth book, and eventually Ron and Hermione end up together to live happily ever after. At no point does Viktor...

Based on the middle book in J.K. Rowling's series, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" was a pivotal film in many ways. Released 10 years ago this week (on November 18, 2005), "Goblet" marked the first time Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) saw one of his friends die, the first time Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) appeared in the flesh, and the first time we saw the young heroes of Hogwarts as hormonal teenagers.
As often as you've watched "Goblet of Fire," there's a lot you still may not know about it -- from the surprising controversy over the all-star band at the Yule Ball, to the Easter eggs that less-than-sharp-eyed Muggle viewers may have missed. So dip into the Pensieve and learn the secrets of "Goblet of Fire."1. Screenwriter Steve Kloves and the producers initially considered making Rowling's 734-page book into two films. Metrodome / Big Rich Films have released the first trailer for Resistance which stars Michael Sheen and Andrea Riseborough. The movie is a drama set in an alternate Britain in which D-Day has failed and the country is under Nazi occupation. It’s directed by Amit Gupta and also stars Kimberley Nixon, Iwan Rheon, Stanislav Ianevski, Tom Wlaschiha & Anatole Taubman.
It’s a fascinating idea and one which, from the trailer looks like it could be well worth a watch.
Resistance is set for release in the UK 25th November.

In case you didn’t know, the last Harry Potter film is coming out on July 15th. In countdown to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, I will be doing a bi-weekly series called “Harry Potter as Cinema”, starting with the first film in the series and working my way up to the final film. I will take an academic approach to the Harry Potter films as pieces of cinema, examining not only their quality but also what they are saying thematically.

Different sects of the Harry Potter fanbase hold up different films in the soon-to-be concluded canon of motion pictures as the pinnacle of adaptation from the page to the screen. Some treasure Chris Columbus’s first two films with their child-like wonder. Others think Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban has yet to be matched. Still others believe Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to be the lowest point in the series but that each of the films that followed has successively been the best. No matter where you stand, if you’re a fan and have been waiting to buy the Harry Potter films in the best possible release (with the most extras imaginable), then the Ultimate Edition collection really can’t be beat. Even if you’re one who finds faults with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, there’s so much to be found...
