Before April 17, 2019, Kalank was the movie everybody was eager to watch, people where seen racing against time, schedules, appointments, family matters, etc. today after five days - not even a week of its release, people right from day one are busy making fun and expressing their sheer disappointment.
Some movies are good, some are bad enough to disappear instantly from your memory, some are so precious that they become part of your life, and some are like Kalank, so bad that it?s an eerie haunt that refuses to go and keeps asking what went wrong with this touted epic directed by 2 States fame Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios, starring Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Kunal Kemmu.

Lucky lucky me, I got a chance to sit down once again with Raj and Pablo at the Iifa Weekend in Toronto. What did the fabulous guys have to say about the Iifa Awards Green Carpet?
Hello again Raj and Pablo, wonderful getting a chance to chat with you again. Ok, so you have both been to many Iifa Weekends in the past, how does Iifa 2011 in Toronto stack up?
This has actually been the most successful Iifa Awards yet!
Really? How so?
Financially it has been amazing, but more than that the support and love from the South Asian community here in Toronto is overwhelming. The Canadian government as well has been extremely accommodating, especially premiere Dalton McGuinty. We have never seen a stadium that big filled to capacity, the popularity of Bollywood here is incredible. It is clear that Hindi cinema is getting recognition in the West, from Indians and non-Indians alike.

With the day packed to the tee with seminars, group discussions and workshops, Day 2 at Ficci Frames was abuzz with activities. Here's an overview - Innovative ways to fund the entertainment business: There is no doubt that investments made in films can at times have phenomenal returns, but it is accompanied by a huge risk factor. This deters many financiers in today's era of economic flux. The seminar focussed on newer ways of gathering funds for the media and entertainment sector. A few interesting observations from the seminar were that banks weren't keen on setting up a panel that would evaluate the feasibility and potential of a creative project before investing in it. They would still bet on high profile stars as a security for getting their money back. Film-funds would be the best bet for someone planning to make a feature without the backing of the stars, but India...

Is there any such formula that would go on to prove that a film being made would go on to become a hit? "Sadly, there is no such formula. All that one needs is a good plot that would relate to the audience," said noted filmmaker Shyam Benegal. He, along with scriptwriter Anjum Rajabali, filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, storywriter Shibani Bathija and Australian filmmaker Ian Booth were debating on the subject of 'The Business of Filmmaking' in a session at the ongoing Ficci Frames 2011...

Karan Johar is making good use of a second opportunity to release My Name Is Khan. The pre-climactic hurricane sequences from My Name Is Khan, which were most coldly received by critics and the audience, have now been omitted from the film by well-known American film editor Alan Edward Bell. As a result, the new (and improved?) version is shorter by 35 minutes for its American release on May 7.The ever-candid Karan Johar now admits that the much-criticised hurricane sequences , supposedly located in the Wilhelmina town in the Georgia district of the Us, actually shot at Film City in Mumbai, were not up to the mark.My Name Is KhanKaran says, .I knew all along that the hurricane scenes didn.t quite work. But sometimes, one goes along with one.s vision, sees it to the end and hopes it would all finally smoothen itself out. Looking back I feel those...

My Name Is Khan makes two strong statements... The first: B.C. and A.D. are designations used to label years in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. There's a third designation now - 9/11. Post September 11, the world stands divided. Terrorist outfits continue to strike in the name of religion and the common man, not even remotely associated with these groups, is bearing the brunt. The world is not a safe place anymore. The second statement: There're two sets of people in this world - the good and the bad. No matter how strong the evil forces are, good always triumphs. Write your own movie review of My Name Is Khan My Name Is Khan mirrors the era we live in. Not a day goes by when you haven't heard/read/watched news of terror attacks and innocents being killed. We live in turbulent times. Also, the movie states - and states very strongly,...
