David Hamilton is a Vancouver-based film insurance broker with over 23
years experience in managing risk for film production. He has insured
thousands of features, Movie of the Week, series, documentaries and
commercials. He has settled almost as many claims involving ailing
actors, dropped cameras, stolen film, runaway animals and too many
scratched floors to count.
After Graduating from Queen's University, David began his career in London, UK at Lloyds of London. As a broker in 1990 his first exposure to the film business was as a result of an assignment to Pinewood Studios.
In 1991 he moved back from the U.K. to work for Sedgwick Limited where he established a film insurance unit. In 1997 until he established a Vancouver-based film insurance department for a Toronto-based broker. There, he honed the skills and knowledge he first developed at Pinewood Studios.
In 2007, David launched his own company, Focus Entertainment Insurance Brokers Inc., which is the only Vancouver owned and operated film insurance brokerage in Western Canada that deals exclusively with film production. In 2010 he merged his company to create Front Row Insurance Brokers - Canada's largest film Insurance brokerage.
