Grey’s Anatomy had said farewell to another series regular.
Midori Francis’ surgical intern Mika Yasuda scrubbed in to Seattle’s Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for the last time on Thursday, after joining the show at the start of season 19.
The eighth episode of season 21 — also the fall finale of the hit ABC medical drama, which returns March 6, 2025 — picked up after Jake Borelli’s Dr. Levi Schmitt also departed Grey’s Anatomy. Yasuda’s younger sister, Chloe (Julia Rose Gruenberg), tragically died after a horrible car accident when Yasuda fell asleep at the wheel after pulling an all-nighter at the hospital. The combination of Chloe’s wounds from the accident and the impact of chemo on her body from treating her cancer proved to be fatal, and Chloe died from her injuries.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about Season 21 Episode 8 of Grey’s Anatomy, Drop It Like It’s Hot.
Grey’s Anatomy is known for its jam-packed finales but even by those standards, this year’s fall closer was a doozy. Set against the backdrop of a deadly heat wave, it featured the Grey Sloan exit of Mika (Midori Francis) who struggled to move on from her sister’s death. There was a risky surgery that may have killed a patient, a store robbery gone wrong that may have killed one or more people, more marriage woes for Owen and Teddy and rekindled love for Benson.
Taking place more than six months after the events in the previous episode when Mika woke up after her surgery to find out that her sister Chloe had died, the finale chronicles Mika’s first day back at Grey Sloan after a recovery time off.

Grey’s Anatomy stars Jessica Capshaw and Camilla Luddington formed a close friendship beyond Grey Sloan Memorial. That natural chemistry can be heard on their podcast iHeartRadio’s Call It What It Is. Capshaw played the trailblazing Dr. Arizona Robbins for 10 seasons before stepping away from the popular hospital drama after Season 14. She returned for an episode in Season 20 earlier this year. Luddington was introduced on the show as Dr. Josephine “Jo” Wilson during Season 9 in 2012. Over more than 250 episodes later, her character has since moved up the ladder from intern to Ob/Gyn resident. The besties take their respective experiences to the podcast, satisfying fans of the Shonda Rhimes hit. It’s where they banter about life lessons learned, toxic friendships, parental stress, what gives them the “ick” and more topics. Episodes also see the personable hosts bring in guests including Theresa Caputo, Sarah Drew, Julianne Hough, Geena Davis, and Mandy Moore.

Grey’s Anatomy has said farewell to yet another beloved doctor.
The hit medical drama set up Levi Schmitt’s (Jake Borelli) departure in last week’s episode when Monica Beltran (Natalie Morales) put him up for a pediatric research job in Texas since his Absite scores were not high enough to get him a peds fellowship at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
This week, the seventh episode in season 21, wrapped up Schmitt’s storyline in Seattle. He said farewell to best friends Taryn Helm (Jaicy Elliot) and Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington), got a premature baby ready to graduate from the neonatal intensive care unit, and helped his residents cope with Mika Yasuda’s (Midori Francis) injuries following a traumatic car accident. Dr. Levi Schmitt said goodbye to “Grey’s Anatomy,” ending his 133-episode run with a true happy ending.
Actor Jake Borelli, who joined the cast of the ABC medical drama as a recurring player in Season 14 before becoming a series regular in Season 16, loved the “slow burn” approach the writers took in unfolding Levi’s farewell in Season 21. After pondering a position as a general surgeon attending at Grey Sloan Memorial, Levi decided to pursue his passion for pediatric surgery by accepting a research job in San Antonio to boost his resume for fellowships in that field — leaving his old coworkers behind.
Levi had also started a romantic relationship with hospital chaplain James (Michael Thomas Grant) earlier in the season. The pair discussed navigating a long-distance relationship at first. But Levi boldly asked his new boyfriend to move down to Texas...

After Peacock’s documentary on Elisabeth Finch was released earlier this month, Camilla Luddington says she received requests to comment (including from the doc’s directors and The Hollywood Reporter) on the former Grey’s Anatomy writer who was revealed to have fabricated stories about her life. Luddington, who has played Dr. Jo Wilson on the hit ABC medical drama for 12 seasons, didn’t comment for the doc, nor has she commented since Anatomy of Lies released on Oct. 15. Now, she’s opening up about the experience on her podcast with her former co-star Jessica Capshaw.

Earlier this year, we learned that Phoebe Waller-Bridge's planned Tomb Raider TV series had received the green light at Amazon Prime Video.
Handed a series order, the live-action reboot was described as an "epic" and "globe-trotting" series by Head of Amazon & MGM Studios Jen Salke. “Grey’s Anatomy” added a storyline about voter responsibility into its latest episode, highlighting the importance of participating in democracy less than two weeks before the 2024 presidential election.
Episode 5 of the ABC medical drama, titled “You Make My Heart Explode,” saw as the latest class of interns debated the topic as they juggled a complicated case involving a hospital employee. Though the show is no stranger to addressing hot-button issues in its storylines, “Grey’s” pulled off the voting message for its viewers without going full PSA — and without getting into details about this year’s race.
The episode kicked off with the interns commiserating about long work hours, as they have all been filling in for Mika (Midori Francis) while she tends to her sick sister. As they made it tot he hospital entrance, they walked by voter registration drive and most of them said they were already registered to vote,...

“Grey’s Anatomy” alum Sarah Drew recently opened up on the “Call It What It Is” podcast about her departure from ABC’s long-running medical drama series in 2018. Drew, who played Dr. April Kepner for nine seasons beginning in 2009, was let go from the show after its 14th season along with Jessica Capshaw, who portrayed Dr. Arizona Robbins.
“We were unceremoniously let go in a way that felt mean and unjust, and, because of that, the outpouring of love was so enormous it was like you were sitting there watching people [eulogize you],” Drew said on an episode of the “Call It What It Is” podcast, co-hosted by her former “Grey’s Anatomy” co-stars Capshaw and Camilla Luddington.
After news broke in 2018 about her “Grey’s Anatomy” exit, Drew posted a statement on X, telling fans, “I know you’re sad. I’m sad too. I haven’t really had the time to process this information.

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Sarah Drew said her firing from the long-running ABC series at the end of its 14th season was “unjust” but that returning to the show in seasons 17 and 18 was “freeing.” She told former co stars Jessica Capshaw and Camilla Luddington on the “Call It What It Is” podcast Sunday, “I don’t need anything from anybody on that set anymore.”
“They’re not responsible for my livelihood anymore. They’re not responsible for my success or my joy,” Drew added. “So it feels very, very freeing to pop back in.”

Grey’s Writer’s Horrific History of Falsehoods Gets a Full Dissection in Peacock Doc Anatomy of Lies
We knew that the story of disgraced Grey’s Anatomy writer Elisabeth R. Finch was bad. But we had no idea just how horrible it really was until we screened Peacock’s three-episode Anatomy of Lies documentary (now streaming).

There are few things more embarrassing than being the victim of a scammer, especially publicly, and there are few things stranger than watching a docuseries about a scammer who personally scammed you.
Granted, I only spoke with Elisabeth Finch once about one episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.” But the whole interview was about how she wrote an episode featuring a storyline inspired by her own brain cancer. The headline was “Grey’s Anatomy’s Big Cancer Story Was Based on Very Real Life.” I had no reason to doubt that a writer on one of the biggest shows on TV was telling me the truth. I had no reason to believe that even my headline was a big fat lie. Why would one ever assume someone was lying about brain cancer? It would be disrespectful to even think about it.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is about to bring the beloved adventurer to life again, so here’s what you need to know about the animated series!
Debuting in 1996, Tomb Raider became one of the biggest video game hits of its era and launched an epic franchise. The reason was that Lara Croft, the gorgeous British archaeologist, packed twin pistols and had a fun style as she navigated the world, taking on tombs and various enemies. The character soon became a staple of cosplay conventions.
Lara was brought to life in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider film, starring Angelina Jolie in the title role. It was followed by 2003’s sequel, The Cradle of Life. However, both that film and the 2003 video game entry Angel of Darkness disappointed, and the character fell in popularity.
In 2013, the franchise was revived with a new Tomb Raider game that rebooted the series.

The Season 21 premiere of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy started and ended with a bang, leaving us with a few questions.
That shocking slap from the promos came down at the very beginning of the episode, with Bailey hitting her boss Catherine when the latter called her “just another doctor.” Turns out it was a recurring dream Bailey had been having after she was let go from Grey Sloan over her objection to the decision to have Lucas repeat a year.
Spared by Catherine only because they bring in funding, the interns were assigned a new supervisor, Sydney Heron (Kali Rocha) — in her return to Grey Sloan after 17 years — but they quickly soured on her overly sweet demeanor and “healing with love” attitude. Their reaction was similar to that of Meredith and her...

All eyes are on the return of Grey’s Anatomy. The season 21 premiere airs this Thursday, Sept. 26, and you will not want to miss out.
One thing to keep in mind is that the episode will premiere at a slightly later time than we’re used to. It’s moving to the 10 p.m. Et/Pt timeslot. While this is disappointing for Grey’s fans, it is arguably a better decision for the network and for the new medical drama Doctor Odyssey. We all know that last timeslot of the night isn’t great, but an established series is going to fare better in it.
The season will pick up off the back of the explosive season 20 finale. Sure, we know that the majority of the cast is coming back, but that doesn’t mean they will all have a home at Grey Sloan Memorial.

Dr. Monica Beltran is staying put at Grey Sloan Memorial. Actress Natalie Morales has extended her recurring role on “Grey’s Anatomy” for at least six episodes after first joining the ABC medical drama in Season 20, TheWrap has learned.
Morales will make her Season 21 return with the second episode, and there’s an option for her to sign on for more beyond her initial six-episode commitment.
A pediatric surgeon, Monica made an impression with viewers as a savvy and headstrong professional who’s not afraid to disagree with her colleagues when necessary. Though it seemed like she would potentially become a new love interest for Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), the medical drama threw in a surprise twist when she ended up in bed with recently-divorced Dr. Winston Ndugu (Anthony Hill).

You’re just another doctor,” Catherine spits at Bailey. No one talks to the Miranda Bailey like that. Bailey responds by slapping Catherine in front of the interns.
