A new Nightmare begins playing to packed houses April 30th and this time Freddy Krueger has a very distinctive voice. Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) plays Krueger this time around, gravely voice in tow and hopefully this film adds something to the mythos of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The plotline is similar to past films, with the children of Krueger's murderers being stalked by this accused pedophile. However, even though this film is going to a whole new generation of horror film fans the best sequels, remakes etc. are best when they incorporate something new rather than a simple rehash of the old. With Michael Bay (The Island, Transformers) as the producer there is sure to be lots of action and explosions, but will this be enough to make Krueger the most vicious villain yet, or just another scary voice?
