Chicago-born, award-winning filmmaker Zohra graduated with an electrical engineering degree before she found her true calling. Of South Asian heritage, Zohra is a culturally rich and avid world traveler and loves to tell stories from corners of the globe.
Zohra directs, produces, creates and develops projects from the ground up, including feature films (Let Us Make Eve, White People Money), short films (An Outfit, Finding Mr. Right), documentaries (Fallen Star Rising Sun), TV shows (It's Tei Time), commercials, and music videos, which led her to create her own production company, ZohraFilms. She has also Executive Produced the Nollywood film "A Soldier's Story II: Return from the Dead'' that has been distributed through Lionsgate.
She loves the beauty of cinematography and has been the Director of Photography and Camera Op for films such as "Dark Deeds" and "Nahual".
Zohra has created film festivals from scratch, has been the Festival Director of the Various Artists independent Film Festival, the Senior Programming Director of the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, and has been in the festival circuit for the last decade.
Her work schedule is happily hectic, but when she's not immersed in a project, she is studying to get her pilot's license and can be seen tooling around town on her motorcycle. And she never, ever, misses a Chicago Cubs game.
