Marcos Cruz Llorens was born in Madrid, Spain, on April 1st, 1978. He
started his study of the piano at the conservatory of Amaniel (Madrid)
at the age of six. During a period of thirteen years he completed his
studies at the conservatory, obtaining his undergraduate degrees as a
piano teacher, harmony, counterpoint, composition, and instrumentation.
At the age of nineteen, he passed his access exam to the Upper Conservatory of Atocha (Madrid) in order to continue his studies in composition with Anton Garcia Abril and Zulema de la Cruz, obtaining outstanding marks, and obtaining his bachelor's degree in harmony, counterpoint, composition and instrumentation.
Further on, he continues studying, taking several courses in film music at the S.G.A.E. (Society of artists and publishers) where he was an active pupil, taking master classes by Jose Nieto, Eric Serra.... and writing the soundtrack of an animation short movie, played and recorded by the Young Orchestra of the Community of Madrid. After compose several short and feature films, he was a candidate in the GOYA awards in 2011 for the feature film "El hombre de las mariposas". Some of his works has been composed for tv shows and short movies in Los Angeles (CA).
He has worked as a keyboard interpreter, pianist, and arranger in several musicals including Annie, Jeckyll and Hyde, Cabaret, La cage aux folles, he has also worked on tour with artists such as Joaquin Cortes (spanish flamenco dancer), and as a conductor pianist in the musical "Cabaret" (Sam Mendes version). Also as a pianist in some concerts with the Symphonic Orchestra of Madrid and with the National Orchestra. His works as a composer has been premiered in some of the most prestigious halls as The National Auditorium or The Real Theatre in Madrid, as well as The Carnegie Hall in New York.
