"Le's play." "Double it this time." Gravitas has unveiled an official trailer for an indie pool hall thriller titled Break, which is a rather obvious pool reference when you "break" the game at the start. This will be getting a limited theatrical release later in April, though it hasn't played at any festivals. In the film, Eli learns that his absent father was a Detroit pool hall legend. He journeys into the Detroit Pool scene, and must confront the realities and dangers of the game, along with his own demons. Michigan-native actor Darren Weiss stars as Eli, joined by Braedyn Bruner as Millie, Victor Rasuk, Jeff Kober, Patricia Belcher, Caleb Emery, Suzen Baraka, Uriah Shelton, Wendy Braun, and Rick Fitts. This looks pretty rough, but it's nice to see a pool movie again, feels like it has been a while since there was one out in theaters. Check it out.

The tragedy cast a very long shadow. Up on Droop Mountain, a college student discovered the bodies of hitchhikers Vicki Durian and Nancy Santomero. They’d both suffered close-range gunshot wounds and were left for dead. The year was 1980, and the summer had barely ripened. The entire region, down to my hometown 20 minutes away, heard about what happened. I grew up in the ‘90s in a town called Renick, and that story clung to our valley like a dark, sticky spider web. I first recall hearing the story from my best friend Sam when I was in elementary school. A good 15 years had passed and the Rainbow Murders, as they were called, still erupted in hushed whispers and gossip. No one was bound to ever forget it.

"Jordan - to everyone else you're a child, so you have to start acting like it." Universal has debuted the first official trailer for a comedy titled Little, produced by Will Packer, hitting theaters in April just before the summer season. Little is another new age swap comedy, similar to Big or 13 Going on 30, about a woman who wakes up as her 13-year-old self again. She's given the chance to relive the life of her younger self, at a point in her life when the pressures of adulthood become too much for her to bear. Of course she's going to learn some lessons along the way. Regina Hall & Marsai Martin both star as Jordan Sanders, with a cast including Issa Rae, Justin Hartley, Tone Bell, Caleb Emery, and Jd McCrary. This seems like it might just be a whole lot of fun to watch. Take a ...

"There's a serial killer on the loose! What else could possibly be this exciting?" Right?! Gunpowder & Sky has released the full-length official trailer for filmmaking collective Rkss' new film Summer of '84, which first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. This is the film that has been described as a mash-up of "Stranger Things", Stand By Me, and The Goonies, set in the 80's about a group of kids trying to figure out who a local serial killer is and stop him. The cast is lead by a group of four young kids, and the film stars Graham Verchere, Judah Lewis, Caleb Emery, Cory Gruter-Andrew, Tiera Skovbye, Rich Sommer, Jason Gray-Stanford, and Shauna Johannesen. The reviews for this from Sundance weren't as great as expected, but it still looks like it might be an entertaining film to watch later in the fall. Here's the full-length trailer...

A serial killer is on the loose in this new trailer for Summer of '84, and a group of teens in the 80s take it upon themselves to catch the killer, who they believe is their next door neighbor. Here's the full synopsis:
Every serial killer is somebody’s neighbor. For 15-year-old Davey, the thought of having a serial killer in his suburban town is a scary yet exciting prospect at the start of a lazy summer. In hormonal overdrive, Davey and his friends dream of sexual conquests until the news reports of the Cape May killer. Davey convinces his friends that they must investigate, and they uncover that his next-door neighbor, an unassuming, single police officer, could be the prime suspect. Could Davey possibly be right, or is it his overactive imagination?
This seems like it has all the right ingredients for a film that a lot of geeks...

Jordan Peele goes on The Hunt for Nazis with a vengeance in upcoming series for Amazon Studios.
Get Out director Jordan Peele is emerging from the sunken place to hunt for Nazis. Peele will executive produce The Hunt. The “vengeance-driven Nazi hunting series” was recently greenlit by Amazon Studios, which put in an direct-to-series order for 10 episodes. The Hunt was created by David Weil (Moonfall) who will also write the series and be an Executive Producer.
"When David Weil first shared The Hunt with me, I immediately knew that we had to be involved. Its cathartic,” Peele said in a statement. “Its noir. It’s frighteningly relevant. It’s exactly what I want to see on television. I am thrilled to be working with Amazon in bringing this incredible vision to the world.”

Like most genre fans, I fell head over heels for Turbo Kid, the first feature from the filmmaking trio Rkss (François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell) that transported viewers to a post-apocalyptic future where BMX bikes and friendship rule over the savageness of the brand new world. For their follow-up feature, Rkss heads back to the Reagan Era for their genre-defying Summer of ’84, a murder mystery/slasher/coming-of-age comedy hybrid that confidently explores the triumphs and tribulations of being a teenager, all while delivering a horrifying tale that conjures up some really fun scares along the way.
In the Summer of ’84, we meet 15-year-old Davey (Graham Verchere), who’s obsessed with mysteries and conspiracy theories. He begins to suspect that his neighbor, Officer Mackey (Rich Sommer), might actually be the Cape May Killer, a kidnapper and murderer targeting teenaged boys who live in the idyllic suburban neighborhoods of the area.

"There's a serial killer on the loose! What else could possibly be this exciting!"
Summer of '84 is one of the films that I'm really excited about seeing at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. I was already sold on the premise, but today we have an awesome trailer to share with you and if you're a fan of the 80s and this radcore movement that Hollywood has found itself in, this is a film project that will definitely perk your interest.
The movie comes from the same filmmaking team that brought us the radical cult film Turbo Kid. As you'll see, Summer of '84 has a very similar vibe as Stranger Things, but instead of taking on a monster from another dimension, a group of geeky teenagers get excited about taking on a real-life monster... a serial killer that is terrorizing their suburban community. If The Goonies were...

"There's a serial killer on the loose... What else could possibly be this exciting?!" Gunpowder & Sky has put out the first teaser trailer for filmmaking collective Rkss' new film Summer of '84, which is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this month. This film comes with quite a similar pitch to many other projects these days: it "delivers the camaraderie, adventure, joy and nostalgia of The Goonies and Stand By Me while four boys chase to uncover a mystery (ala 'Stranger Things')." The main cast is lead by a group of four young kids, and the film stars Graham Verchere, Judah Lewis, Caleb Emery, Cory Gruter-Andrew, Tiera Skovbye, Rich Sommer, Jason Gray-Stanford, and Shauna Johannesen. This really does look like Stand By Me meets "Stranger Things", but hopefully it has something to unique offer on its own. Have fun. Here's the first teaser trailer (+ teaser poster) for Rkss'...
