Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners has sold a 50% stake in its catalog of music publishing and music master rights from the film music library to Multimedia Music, including marquee and award-winning films 1917, Green Book, The Bfg, Bridge of Spies, The Post, Office Christmas Party, Thank You For Your Service and The Girl on the Train and others. The catalog features iconic music from several of the most renowned and celebrated composers in the world including John Williams, Thomas Newman, Danny Elfman, Alexandre Desplat, Rachel Portman, Mark Isham and Rob Simonsen.

The music partnership will also see Mmm and Amblin pursue new initiatives to increase value by maximizing income collections and sourcing new uses for the catalog in commercials, trailers and television shows.

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have acquired North American rights to “The Good House” from Amblin Partners, in association with Participant. The film will have its U.S. premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 16, with Roadside Attractions setting a wide release date for September 30 exclusively in theaters.

The film, starring Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Kline, is an adaptation of Ann Leary’s best selling novel. The story follows Hildy Good (Weaver), a New England realtor and descendant of the Salem witches. Good loves her wine and her secrets, but her compartmentalized life begins to unravel as she rekindles a romance with her old high-school flame, Frank Getchell (Kline). Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions announced on Monday that they have jointly acquired the North American distribution rights to “The Good House,” a Participant-produced drama starring Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Kline that will have its U.S. premiere at Tribeca this week and will be released in theaters Sept. 30.

The deal maintains Nordisk Film’s distribution of Amblin-produced films in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, and includes theatrical, home video, TV, pay-per-view, and video-on-demand rights.

Upcoming Amblin titles covered under the new deal include The Fabelmans, from director Steven Spielberg (pictured); Easter Sunday, starring comedy sensation Jo Koy; Distant, starring Anthony Ramos and Naomi Scott; and Last Voyage of the Demeter, directed by Norwegian horror auteur André Øvredal and starring Corey Hawkins.

Amblin Partners and Nordisk Film said they have renewed for two years a distribution partnership that in recent years has covered Sam Mendes’ 1917 and Steven Spielberg’s The Post and The Girl On The Train.

The arrangement covers Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland and will run through the end of 2021.

The deal maintains Nordisk Film’s exclusive distribution of all Amblin-produced films, including theatrical, home video, TV, pay-per-view and VOD rights.

Mendes’ First World War thriller 1917 earned close to $10m in Nordisk Film’s four territories and according to Amblin has grossed more than $375m worldwide.

Amblin Partners and Scandinavian distributor Nordisk Film have renewed their output partnership for a further two years.

The deal, covering Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland, will now run through the close of 2021. It was first struck back in 2012 with Amblin’s predecessor DreamWorks Pictures and is an exclusive agreement covering all Amblin titles across theatrical, home video, television, pay-per-view and VOD rights.

Recently, the companies had success with Sam Mendes’ 1917, which grossed close to $10M across the four territories, as part of its $375M global total. The film is also expected to be re-released by Nordisk when cinemas re-open in Norway following the coronavirus closures. Other past titles include Steven Spielberg’s The Post and The Girl on the Train.
