Cindy started out as a copywriter, sharpening her teeth at TBWA Hunt Lascaris. After winning almost every award for copy writing, she moved on to directing commercials which she believes has given her her eye for detail and craft when it comes her other love - long form.
In between her successful commercial directing career cindy wrote a short screenplay 'HORN' about the horrors of rhino poaching that won at the New York Picture Start Film Festival. She was nominated for a SAFTA (South African Film and Television Award) for her television directing debut of the drama series 'Sober Companion'. She directed three episodes of Showmax's critically acclaimed first original drama, 'The Girl From St. Agnes'. She has just received her second SAFTA nomination for best director in a Drama for her first solo series, 'Desert Rose' which is now streaming on Showmax. She directed 'I'll Bring The Wine', a five-part content series for Nederburg wines.
Cindy's first short film The Last Ranger' has just won at the Toronto Women Film Festival, The LA Independent Women Film Awards, The Atlantic Film Festival, The International Images Film Festival For Women, and has been selected for the Pretoria Film Festival, The San Diego Film Festival, The Cascade Festival of African Films and has been chosen by the American Conservation Film Festival to receive the 2024 Green Fire Award.
Cindy is currently in post production on The Morning After, an 8 part comedy-drama for Both-Worlds.
