Shaun Barry is a former career soldier with 15 years in the Australian Army as a Combat Engineer soldier and an Infantry Officer.
Shaun is a Founder and Managing Director of multiple companies within both the Film and Australian Defence Industry. These companies' roles individually include Explosives Ordnance Remediation, Defence Role Players, Film and TV Talent Agency and Consultancy, Training Company as well as a Film and TV Production Company.
Shaun entered the film industry in 2016 after completing a Stunt Course on the Gold Coast and Hollywood and was employed as an Instructor and Safety Officer at The Australian Stunt Academy.
In 2017 he founded the Company - Extra Specialists. This Agency/Consultancy employs former Defence Force and Emergency Services members into the Industry as Actors, Extras, Consultants, Safety, Specialists, Unit Managers, Drivers, Set Construction and Decorating and Military Advisors etc.
Extra Specialists has well over 1000 members that have worked on over 60 large projects Nationally and Internationally, from TV series including Home and Away, to Feature Films including 2 Marvel projects.
In 2019, Shaun established a training centre conducted out of Screen QLD Studios to train actors in military tactics and Veterans in acting.
Shaun's qualifications in Safety and Training as well as his network within the industry and Veteran community, he has been able to help countless smaller productions be completed and the industry grow.
Due to Shaun's 20+ years' experience in Project Management he founded a Production Company, Stable Pictures Pty. Ltd. and produced his first Feature Film in Jan 2022 entitled "Kane". He also Executive Produced a second Feature Film in the same year entitled "Double or Nothing".
Shaun is also known for working with Russell Crowe on multiple projects as his Picture Double and Stand In.
Shaun is a Member of both the Australian Institute of Project Managers and Australian Institute of Company Directors as well as a Technical Member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers.
Shaun is an environmentalist and is a Committee Member of the Unexploded Ordnance Special Interests Group within the Australian Land and Groundwater Association.
