I've only watched the first episode so far, but the Yeats poem appropriately summarizes what I've seen so far. At first, it seemed that they were going to leave the poem out completely, but then they recited the entire thing EXCEPT for the two most iconic and important lines from the poem. That's how the show feels so far. They are hitting some of the important events from the book, but they left out the heart from those scenes.
I'm also not loving the structure they've set up. Why are we jumping forward and backward in time? It's not like we are juxtapositioning important moments. It just seems random, and I'm guessing that people who haven't read the book are confused and losing interest.
I'm just hoping it gets better.
