"Dead, wrapped in plastic" is how Sheryl Lee entered onto the scene as Laura Palmer, the doomed homecoming queen on the cult TV series Twin Peaks (1990).

Lee was born April 27, 1967 in Germany. She grew up in Boulder, Colorado, spending much of her youth studying dance before knee injuries ended her hope of becoming a dancer. She began acting in school plays, graduated from Fairview High School, and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California. Lee also spent time at the North Carolina School of Arts, the National Conservatory Theater in Denver, and Colorado University before pursuing stage work in Seattle, Washington.

Here Lee landed the role of Laura Palmer, and she later appeared on Twin Peaks (1990) as Laura's cousin, Madeleine Ferguson. Madeleine was a brunette and wore glasses, but of course bore a striking resemblance to her late relative. Lee worked with Twin Peaks (1990) mastermind David Lynch again on the film, Wild at Heart (1990), and resurrected Laura Palmer one last time for Lynch's Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992).

Lee has gone on to have a long and adventurous career since then. Appearances have included the Stuart Sutcliffe biopic Backbeat (1994), the John Carpenter film Vampires (1998), and the TV series L.A. Doctors (1998).

Stephen can also be heard throughout the world of video gaming as the Big Daddy in the "Bioshock" franchise, as well as Sasha Nein in "Pyschonauts", and Ben Kenobi in "Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga", "Star Wars: Empire at War" and the original "Star Wars: Battlefront II".

In 1933, she got to know Wolf Albach-Retty, whom she married four years later. Their children Rosemarie (aka Romy Schneider) and Wolf-Dieter were born in 1938 and 1941, but they divorced in 1945. After World War II, she appeared on stage and screen again, but was better known as ambitious mother, who urged on the career of her daughter Romy. In the 1950s, she played her mother or aunt in several movies such as Wenn der weiße Flieder wieder blüht (1953) or Sissi (1955). In the last years of her life, she had to bear the death of her grandson David in 1981 and her daughter Romy in 1982. She died on 30 July 1996 in Berchtesgaden, Germany.

Arthur Brauss has accumulated an impressive tally of acting credits, both on the domestic front and internationally. He has been directed by the likes of John Huston, Sam Peckinpah, Jack Arnold, Richard Brooks and Mark Robson. His co-stars have included Warren Beatty, Goldie Hawn, Steve Martin, Burt Lancaster, James Mason and James Coburn. Brauss also featured in a couple of Jerry Cotton potboilers, played the member of a terrorist gang in Verrat ist kein Gesellschaftsspiel (1972), cold-blooded killer Abdul Carraco in the expensively made TV production Härte 10 (1974) and Charly Clayton, the avaricious owner of the Tivoli saloon in Lockruf des Goldes (1975) (a miniseries loosely based on works by Jack London). His role as vicious drug smuggler Candy Man in $ (1971) had originally been slated for Horst Frank, an actor with a similar predilection for villainous portrayals.

Brauss had a particularly prominent role as a murderous football player in Wim Wenders's off-beat, noirish crime drama The Goalie's Anxiety at the Penalty Kick (1972). More recently, he has featured as Russian chess master Viktor Yurilivich in the thriller Knight Moves (1992) and as King Ottokar in the fairy tale König Drosselbart (2008). For much of the 60s and 70s, however, he was true to form as the perennial heavy in TV series like Die fünfte Kolonne (1963), Okay S.I.R. (1972), Derrick (1974), Tatort (1970) and The Old Fox (1977). Post-retirement (in 2014), the actor has spent his newly found spare time racing cars, making furniture, playing classical guitar, cooking and playing golf in a club which includes Franz Beckenbauer among its members. He has resided for some four decades in the Munich district of Schwabing. His wife is Marie Poccolin.
