Charlie firmly blocks the landlady from putting her fingers on the table, saying it must not be touched. A minute later, she leans over, steadying herself by pressing her palm on the table, but Charlie does not move or say anything.
The radio direction finder used by the German Police is clearly marked as made by an American Company and sports a compass rose marked in English ('E' for East and so on, instead 'O' for Osten). Even if the German police would operate imported equipment, the markings would be in German.
And it is unlikely that the Nazi regime would allow import of anything the German industry was able to produce, not to mention that German radio equipment of the time was among the best in the world.
The direction given by the RDF operator is
'North by Northeast two points East'
Not only is the main cardinal direction given wrong (correct would be 'Northeast by North'), and 'two points east' make it Northeast by East, the direction the indicator needle points to is about North-Northeast one quarter East, about two and three quarters North of the direction the operator reads off.
When Charlie's son brings him a picnic basket he says he was bringing "cut up tea and sandwiches" when clearly he meant "tea and cut up sandwiches."
