Not only is this the first official Donald Duck cartoon, it also marks the first appearance of his girlfriend. Here, however, she is called Donna, and her voice is the same as Donald's, just sped up slightly.
This is the first 1937 Donald Duck cartoon "Don Donald" to have Donald Duck getting mad at Jenny the donkey calling it a jackass. The second time he would call Jenny the donkey a jackass is in the 1942 Donald Duck cartoon "The Village Smithy".
It would remain uncensored even during the 1983-2001 Disney Channel classic cartoon era. On the VHS tape "Starring Donald and Daisy." and on the "Walt Disney Treasures DVD The Chronological Donald Volume 1."
Although initially billed as a Mickey Mouse cartoon, the film is actually the first installment of the Donald Duck series, and is the first to feature Donald as the primary starring character. Mickey does not appear in the cartoon at all.
The cartoon introduces Donna Duck (the precursor to Daisy Duck) as Donald's girlfriend.
The short also notably features the first appearance of the car that would become 313, Donald's vehicle of transportation in the comics.
