Since the 70th episode on 9th September 1973, the title sequence, where a narrator presents the content of the episode, is always repeated in a foreign language.
Between the show's features, there are short cartoons telling the adventures of an orange mouse (which gave the show its name) and her friends, a blue elephant and a yellow duck.
The show has been sold to over 100 countries so far.
Stefan Raab composed a song called "Hier kommt die Maus" (Here comes the mouse) honoring the show's 25th birthday, which reached #2 in the German single charts (1996).
