Akshay Kumar is on a roll with his projects! The star is awaiting the release of his highly anticipated movie, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. But there is more good news for Khiladi Kumar in the box office. He reportedly joins the star-studded cast of Vishnu Manchu’s passion project, Kannappa. It is a cinematic ode to the Tamil saint Bhakta Kannappa, a devout follower of Lord Shiva. The highly anticipated film stars three superstars from the South: Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Shiva Rajkumar.

This would be Akshay’s third South-language film. He first appeared in a bi-lingual 1997 Film, Ashanti. Then, he worked with Rajnikanth in Shankar’s 2.0, the Robot sequel.

Kannappa is actor-producer Manchu Vishnu’s ambitious project, currently being produced at Rfc in Hyderabad. Mukesh Kumar Singh is directing this highly anticipated mythical epic.

Nelly and Ashanti are adding fuel to the rumours.

On Wednesday night, the pair were spotted attending a star-studded private party together, lending more credence to speculation that they are dating again.

According to Page Six, which also obtained photos, Nelly and Ashanti arrived together at Tao Group Hospitality executive Jon Schwartz’s extravagant 40th birthday party at a New York nightclub.

Nelly and Ashanti sparked rumours that they had reconciled last month, after been seen out on what appeared to be a date in Las Vegas.

They were seen sitting together ringside at a boxing match between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia.

“They were smiling at each other nonstop,” a source said at the time.

Veteran Indian actor Kabir Bedi, who has an extensive body of work in Italy including all-time favorite television series “Sandokan,” was conferred a lifetime achievement award at Venice on Saturday.

Bedi was presented with the Filming Italy Movie Lifetime Achievement Award at the Venice Production Bridge market. The award was presented by producer and actor Tiziana Rocca and Roberto Stabile, the head of the international department of Italian national audiovisual body Anica.

The actor, who has served as an unofficial ambassador for Indo-Italian relations for some four decades, said during his acceptance speech, “I have tried to make people in Italy focus on India for many years, and people in India focus on Italy for many years.”

Killer Joe (Lionsgate) William Friedkin’s film of Tracy Letts’ off-Broadway hit about a family of Texas trailer park cretins (Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church, Gina Gershon) who hire a cop-cum-hitman (Matthew McConaughey) to take out their troublesome mother, then foolishly cross him, is a stinging satire, given double-barreled audacity by Friedkin’s sure, and fearless, directorial hand. Earning its Nc-17 rating in spades, “Killer Joe” reminds us that daring, frank material like this is why movies exist in the first place. Last year a new movie adaptation of Red Sonja was announced, with plans to film it in 2008 and release it sometime this year, as the date on promotional posters indicated.

Sin City director Robert Rodriguez was to produce the project, which will star his fiancee Rose McGowan as the so-called 'she-devil with a sword'.

McGowan is best known from the TV series Charmed and the Rodriguez/Tarantino double feature Grindhouse.

After the remake was announced, all went quiet.

But now executive producer Joe Gatta has explained what is happening with this project and when we can expect to see it hit the big screen.

Gatta said the movie had been delayed and the intention is to film Red Sonja in 2010. The aim is to release it late that same year.

Gatta, who's also producing the Conan remake, told Empire magazine: "Because of certain issues and the economy, we had to change our plan a bit.
