Taylor Swift almost met Bella Swan.
The “You Belong With Me” singer asked “Twilight: New Moon” director Chris Weitz to appear in the 2009 film as an extra. Weitz, however, turned her down, saying that Swift’s superstar presence would be distracting in the franchise installment starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
“The craziest one of all those was to hear that Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and actually Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time and he said, ‘Taylor would like to be in this movie — not because of you, but she’s a Twi-hard,'” Weitz revealed during “The Twilight Effect with Ashley Greene and Melanie Howe” podcast. “‘She would be someone at the cafeteria or the diner or whatever, but she just wants to be in this movie.'”

Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.
This Past Weekend:
Presidents' Day weekend was an interesting one at the box office, and as with most holiday weekends, it was particularly difficult to figure out how things might fare, other than The Lego Batman Movie, which remained at #1 with almost $45 million over the four-day weekend. Fifty Shades Darker followed with $21.3 million, about a 50% drop. Last week, I thought that the Ice Cub comedy Fist Fight would beat The Great Wall, although it seemed like it could be a close race. Nope. Matt Damon’s action epic came in third place with $21.6 million, which is a couple million more than my original prediction, but The Fist Fight fell short of my prediction by almost $10 million, grossing $14.5 million in its first four days.

From Dumb & Dumber and The Martian, through to Arachnophobia and Steve Jobs - we salute the screen work of Jeff Daniels...
They say that when you play the Game of Thrones, “you win or you die”. The Game of Jeff Daniels, however, is an undeniably different beast and for the most part is a definite “you win or you win”. After viewing dozens of Jeff Daniels movies and spending many, many hours with his on-screen personas, it’s fair to say that the maxim has been sorely tested but guess what? It still holds true. This list has been carefully curated to celebrate the veteran actor’s talent, versatility and wit and no matter which (if any) of these movies you decide to revisit or check out for the first time, Jeff is guaranteed to give you something to love in each and every one.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star was joined at the event by her mom, Melanie Griffith, her 19-year-old sister Stella Banderas, and her grandmother, legendary actress Tippi Hedren; the fierce foursome posed for photos together on the red carpet before heading inside, and Dakota was the picture of elegance as she accepted the Calvin Klein emerging star award and snapped pictures with the brand's creative director, Francisco Costa. Dakota hasn't shied away from talking about her famous family, especially when it comes to their opinions of her scandalous role in the Fifty Shades films. Dakota, whose father is Miami Vice star Don Johnson, is currently riding high thanks to the amazing box-office success of Fifty Shades of Grey. Melanie dished that she still hasn't seen the much talked-about big-screen adaptation of E.L. James' bestselling erotic novel.

With the latest addition of Kerry Washington, the already impressive cast of Quentin Tarantino's next movie, "Django Unchained," just got a little more impressive. Throw in his other recent hire -- Don Johnson -- and it's clear that the auteur is up to his usual quirky casting tricks. Tarantino has always been known for his, ah, interesting choices with his ensemble casts, pulling from both mainstream Hollywood actors and the dustiest corners of pop culture, and resurrecting the careers of fallen stars.
"Django Unchained" is no exception, but how does it stack up with the rest of Tarantino's oeuvre? It's got some tough competition from what have become iconic ensembles, so let's take a look at where the new cast stands in comparison.
"Reservoir Dogs"
Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi, Chris Penn, Lawrence Tierney
The Rundown: The color-coded cast set the tone for the rest of Tarantino's movies.

Pedro Almodóvar made him a star. But then Hollywood beckoned and actor abandoned mentor. Twenty years on, they're back together – and boy does it feel good...
Three decades ago, an impoverished young actor named Antonio Banderas was sitting with friends outside Madrid's National theatre when a curious figure happened by. The new arrival sported a backcombed goth bouffant and brandished a bright red briefcase that could only contain documents of national importance. He ordered a drink, cracked some jokes then turned abruptly towards Banderas. "You have a very romantic face," he said. "You should do movies. Bye-bye!" And with that he was off, swinging his briefcase through the crowds on the Calle del Principe.
Nonplussed, Banderas turned to his friends. "Oh, that's Pedro Almodóvar," they told him. "He made a movie once. But he won't make any more."

Antonio Banderas became "lucky" the day he met his wife Melanie Griffith. The Spanish actor, who married the "Working Girl" actress in 1996, shortly after the breakdown of her marriage to Don Johnson and his divorce from Ana Leza the year before, has admitted his life changed dramatically from the moment he first laid eyes on his future spouse.

Antonio Banderas plans to threaten his 13-year-old daughter's first boyfriend with a shotgun. The Spanish actor, who has teenage daughter Stella with his wife of 15 years Melanie Griffith, is apparently dubious now the youngster has discovered boys for the first time.
"Stella, well, we don't know where her future lies, and we don't put any pressure on her to decide," Melanie joked. "But she's doing very well at school and has lots of friends and is just discovering boys. And Antonio's waiting at the door for them with a shotgun!"
Melanie, who also has son Alexander, 24, and 20-year-old daughter Dakota with ex-husband Don Johnson, takes delight in watching her children grow and is full of praise for how they conduct themselves. She told Britain's Hello! Magazine, "Alexander is a musician, very good-looking and deep, a wonderful person with a really intense inner life. Dakota is wild and beautiful, clever. It's...

Melanie Griffith’s marriage to Antonio Banderas was “strengthened” by her stay in rehab.
The actress – who spent three months in Utah’s Cirque Lodge rehabilitation centre last summer for preventative treatment – got through the programme with the support of her actor spouse and their family, including their 13-year-old daughter Stella.
Discussing Melanie’s treatment, Antonio said: “The whole family took part, Stella included. I was there three times a week at a stretch, and we participated in group therapy with our daughter. It strengthened our relationship in many ways. We participated very directly, all of us. Melanie’s son and daughter Alexander and Dakota were there, as was her ex-husband Don Johnson’s son Jessie and Melanie’s mother, actress Tippi Hedren, too.
“I just wanted the mother of my children, my wife, to get better. We had no reason to hide anything. At the same time, being open...

Film history is full of real life couples starring along side each other and the scale of greatness varies from good to bloody awful. There’s the very good: Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, Bogart and Bacall and then there’s Don Johnson and Melanie Griffiths in Born Yesterday. Now Johnny Depp and his French wife, singer and occasional actress, Vanessa Paradis, are dipping their toes into such uncertain waters. Depp recently told Bang Showbiz that he’s agreed to star in My American Lover, a story based on French philosopher Simone de Beauvoir’s relationship with writer Nelson Algren.
The film is being directed by another of Depp’s long time collaborator’s, Lasse Hallestrom. The thought of Vanessa Paradis playing Simone de Beauvoir is hilarious, but there’s no confirmed news yet whether she will be.

This month has brought with it a wave of horror the blood thirsty masses have been lapping up for three plus weeks now. Carriers, Jennifer's Body, Sorority Row, and 9 all enjoy current theatrical runs, while the highly anticipated Pandorum will tackle the box office today. The ridiculously eerie Grace arrived on DVD shelves this month, as did Clive Barker's Book Of Blood, Deadgirl, Methodic and Rob Zombie?s The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto among others. John Sandford's latest novel Rough Country will street on the 29th, and Stephen Jay Shwartz saw his debut novel Boulevard hit stands on the 15th. Musically it's been an exceptional month for horror releases as well thanks to the extremely successful Insane Clown Posse release Bang! Pow! Boom!, while the upcoming Dethklok album Dethalbum II is poised to cause commotion on the 29th. Seems like a damn fine month for horror eh?

Melanie Griffith knows all too well the challenges of getting - and staying - sober. The actress, who underwent treatment twice for substance abuse in 1988 and 2000, checked into a rehab facility, her rep said Monday, to "reinforce her commitment to stay healthy." Her third stint in rehab marks what has been an on-again, off-again battle with addiction for the past three decades. Admitting she has "an addictive personality," Griffith, 52, once told Australian magazine New Idea four years after her first trip to rehab that she's "lucky to be alive. I was never as bad as some people I knew, shooting heroin and stuff.
