Television actress Kamya Panjabi said that she is very fond of giving a personal touch to her characters and that is the reason she chose to shop for ornaments she wears for the show ‘Sanjog’.

Kamya said: “I have always been fond of giving a personal touch to my characters and as soon as I learnt about my new onscreen avatar of Gauri, I got very excited.”

“This was because I had never played such a character and I knew I would get to experiment with my look even more this time around. In fact, after signing up for the show, I even started buying oxidised rings, nose pins, Jutis, amongst other things that would suit the character of Gauri. Since I have always been fond of oxidised ornaments, I prefer wearing my own jewellery along with the jewellery provided by the show’s stylist in order to bring out Gauri’s authentic side.

Rajat Dahiya had to shed 18 kgs of weight to play 30-year-old Gopal in the show ‘Sanjog’ opposite Kamya Panjabi. The actor, who was playing a bulky middle-aged man in his last show ‘Tujhse Hai Raabta’ has to put in a lot of effort to depict the personality of a well-built young man in his present serial.

He shared: “I had to put in a lot of effort for the character of Gopal because earlier, in ‘Tujhe Hai Raabta’, I was playing a 55-year-old man, who was bulky. In Sanjog, I am playing a fit guy in his 30s.”

Rajat opted for a strict diet and regular exercise to get the kind of physique needed for his role.

“So, to get into Gopal’s character, I worked out regularly for more than 3 to 4 months while maintaining a proper and strict diet. Through this, I have managed to lose almost 15 to 18 kgs...

Actress Shefali Sharma, who is playing a mother on screen for the first time, says she took the help from her mother to understand her character well in ‘Sanjog’. She shares: “This is the very first time I am portraying the character of a mother on-screen, and I am super excited about this. While I did my thorough research for the part by reading all the documents we had and seeing several mother-daughter videos, I wanted some help to get all the nuances right.”

Shefali says that to bring out the emotions of a mother is never easy and to do it perfectly in ‘Sanjog’ she took suggestions from her mother.

Kamya Panjabi, who rose to fame with her portrayal of Sindoora in ‘Banoo Main Teri Dulhann’, will now be seen playing the role of a banjaran named Gauri in ‘Sanjog’. To get into the skin of the character, the actress says to stand out from other actors, Kamya has aced the Rajasthani look for the upcoming show.

Kamya says: “I wanted to look like my character. How Gauri will look and stand out from other actors. Basically i am very selfish as an actor and wants to stand out in whatever role I am playing.As the show is based in Jodhpur, so me and entire creative team worked hard to give that traditional appearance to the character.”

During a conversation with Ians, she briefs about the challenges in she faced while shooting for the show: “I don’t wanted to look pretty or that have modern look like my previous roles.

He said casually: “As an actor it is my job”, adding that: “I don’t think much. Whatever comes to me I grab it and try to do justice to it. I never give a thought if it is good or bad, I just do my job and let the production and creatives do their job.
