In the opening scene, a woman is sentenced to 'death by a thousand cuts'. The story of A Chinese Torture Chamber 2 then unfolds in a series of flashbacks, in which we find out exactly how she came to be in such a predicament...
Three out-of-luck peasants (two men and the woman from the opening scene) attempt to steal a man's horse and belongings, but are caught in the act. After befriending the would-be thieves and teaching them how to hunt and fend for themselves, the man leaves to take a job as a general appointed by the government to keep the law in the district. Six months pass and the three (plus another woman), turn up at the general's house for a visit, and discover that he is not as nice as he at first seemed.
After half an hour of laborious plot building (and some softcore sex), A Chinese Torture Chamber 2 finally gets into gear and begins to deliver the goods in the first of several cheesy torture scenes, a woman is impaled upon a red-hot metal phallus and a man has molten wax poured in his ears before having his tongue ripped out. Although this sounds stomach churning, it is actually quite tame in comparison with other Cat III shockers (a little gore with some of the action happening off screen) and this is where the film suffers; I was hoping for a truly bizarre and twisted classic offering some really unique scenes what I got was OK, but not as amazing as I had hoped. A movie with such a deliciously lurid title should have gone much further (in fact, the best gore comes during the brief fights rather than the torture scenes, with severed arms and heads flying through the air and wounds spouting blood).
This remainder of the film consists of more sex and torture, right up to the closing credits. Producer Wong Jing is no stranger to this kind of sleaze and knows what his audience wants; the story comes second to the nudity and violence. The women are all hot babes and regularly shed their clothes to get it on, and, in between the sex, we get some gratuitous violence to ensure that undemanding fans of Cat III films are kept happy.
Not the extreme classic sleazefest I was hoping for, but entertaining enough.
