Late-night television has long been a boys' club, and with Taylor Tomlinson stepping down from After Midnight,it just lost its only female host — again. Tomlinson's departure from the show marks yet another moment where a woman in late-night television takes the stage, only to exit far too soon. For two seasons of After Midnight, Tomlinson brought a fresh, millennial perspective to CBS' late-night lineup, making her one of the few women to host a late-night show on a major network.
However, now, just over a year after its debut, After Midnight is facing an uncertain future. Tomlinson announced that she would be stepping away from the comedy panel game show to focus on her stand-up career, seemingly spelling the end of the series. After Midnight's slot was previously held by James Corden's The Late Late Show, with Tomlinson's show being a reboot of @midnight, which ran from...

Certain movie directors — Hitchcock and Tarantino come to mind — constitute a genre unto themselves. Steven Soderbergh was never like that, at least not until he started making his “little” films: the cleverly plotted low-budget indie palate cleansers that he got into the habit of directing in between his more deluxe features. He did it as a way to recharge his batteries, and to remind himself that moviemaking is supposed to be fun.
You could say that Soderbergh’s first official “little” film was “Full Frontal” (2002), an all-star Hollywood satire made for $2 million, or you could say that it was “Bubble” (2005), a Middle American existential crime drama that also happened to be the first day-and-date release. In a way, though, the original Soderbergh “little” film was “Schizopolis,” the aggro experimental doodle he made all by himself and released in 1996, as a way to clear his pipes after what he characterized as...

[Editor’s Note: this list was originally published in August 2017. It has since been updated to include more of Soderbergh’s films, including “Black Bag.”]
Steven Soderbergh’s directing career started with “Sex, Lies and Videotape,” a massive breakout that not only launched his career — it changed the industry of independent filmmaking in America. While struggling to find his footing after becoming a household name at age 26, Soderbergh never let himself become frozen by his early success or some preconceived notion of what his career would be. Instead, he dogmatically followed any story that piqued his interest, regardless if it was building the slick “Ocean’s Eleven” franchise or an experimental film he shot in his hometown with friends (“Schizopolis”).
He has been careful to build a career that was commercially viable so as to maximize his ability to be constantly creating and experimenting with films that were sometimes aggressively uncommercial. Along the way, he has fought to be as efficient a filmmaker as possible — constantly trying different approaches and new technology to make...

Are late-night TV feuds back for 2025? It certainly seems like it could be as former late-night TV host Samantha Bee dealt some harsh words toward Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels.
It all started with the release of an excerpt from Lorne: The Man Who Invented Saturday Night Live, an upcoming biography written by Susan Morrison. In an effort to claim SNL is apolitical, Michaels called out Bee by name.
“It’s the hardest thing for me to explain to this generation that the show is nonpartisan,” Michaels said. (viaThe Daily Beast) “We have our biases, we have our people we like better than others, but you can’t be Samantha Bee.”
According to Morrison, the SNL creator meant someone "meant one-sided and strident." Bee would certainly fit that definition based on the views she expressed as a Daily Show correspondent and host of the now-defunct TBS late-night show Full Frontal.

Samantha Bee is clapping back at “Saturday Night Live” boss Lorne Michaels, who makes a diss at her in his upcoming memoir “Lorne: The Man Who Invented Saturday Night Live.” The former “Daily Show” correspondent and “Full Frontal” host appeared on “The Daily Beast Podcast” and weighed in on Michaels’ criticism, saying: “It’s never exciting to be referenced in a negative way in someone else’s biography that’s gonna do really well.”
Michaels’ biographer, Susan Morrison, spoke to the “SNL” boss two weeks before Donald Trump was first elected president in November 2016. That was a year after Trump hosted a 2015 episode of “SNL” to much controversy from viewers as well as the show’s writers and cast members.

Just as he was on the cusp of international superstardom thanks to The X-Files, David Duchovny was a relatively unknown actor taking what many might call a big risk — playing a trans woman in a surrealist TV series in 1990. 35 years ago, that kind of performance could have easily been insulting and one-dimensional, but Twin Peaks was a different kind of show, and Duchovny was a different kind of actor.
Created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, Twin Peaks embraced queerness in many ways, just like much of Lynch's work, and Duchovny's character of Denise Bryson, a former Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent who later becomes the FBI's Chief of Staff, was an important stepping stone in representation. With the death of David Lynch on Jan. 15, 2025, some members of the LGBTQ+ community were paying tribute to Lynch through the form of Duchovny's character, and through a specific line of dialogue in Twin Peaks: The Return,...

Steven Soderbergh is a filmmaker who works fast. In just the next two months, he’ll be releasing two major films: this week, his Pov-ghost film “Presence” will hit theaters, and then in mid-March, the Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender-led spy thriller “Black Bag” will be released. But one project that the director has been tinkering away at for years, in between films, is his dream of writing a book about his profession.
“I’ve been working on a book about directing for 15 years,” said Soderbergh while he was a guest on an upcoming episode of the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. “It was always going to use as its spine, a shot by shot, scene by scene analysis of ‘Jaws,’ just as a way of orienting people, so that I could still go off into digressions, but that I always returned to a narrative that pulls you through the book.

"Stranger Things" isn't the only show keeping the fervent spirit of the '80s alive, because "The Goldbergs" acts as a giant love letter to the decade that birthed such national treasures as "ThunderCats" and "Garbage Pail Kids." Loosely based on showrunner Adam F. Goldberg's own life, the sitcom follows his family's adventures (and misadventures) in everyday scenarios that unfolded across 10 seasons between 2013 and 2023. "The Goldbergs" cast features more than a handful of recognizable names, such as Jeff Garlin and Stephen Tobolowsky, not to mention Patton Oswalt using his recognizable voice, but it's sometimes difficult to pinpoint exactly where we have seen these actors before.
Don't stress, though, since that's why we're here -- to figure out the notable shows and films where you might have seen the cast of "The Goldbergs" before. Now, that doesn't mean their entire filmographies will be covered from top to bottom, because some...

As an artist keen on pushing himself creatively with each new release, Yeat is a rarity in contemporary hip-hop. Still, while this year’s 2093 represented an artistic breakthrough for the rapper with its electro-industrial gambit, some fans felt that he was sanding down the more obtuse elements of his offbeat psychedelic sound for mainstream consumption. Lyfestyle, then, is something of a corrective, as the album sees the rapper offering up a spiritual sequel to 2021’s Up 2 Me with yet another zany take on trap and rage music.
Lyfestyle’s cover art, featuring a house engulfed in flames and wild horses galloping around it, embodies the album’s prevailing sense of chaos. In short, it’s a barnburner, with little on its mind outside of conjuring kinetic energy from the most basic of sources: pounding drums, glitched-out arpeggios, soupy basslines, and, of course, Yeat serving as master of ceremonies. Or, more accurately,...

Late-night comedy has undergone a dramatic shift in the past few years with the exits of David Letterman, Jon Stewart, and Jay Leno from the late-night desk. Stewart then returned for a weekly election-season slot on his hit-making show, The Daily Show, but only after his show, The Problem With Jon Stewart, was canceled by Apple TV + when he refused to censor his views. We saw the arrival of many fresh faces, turning the late-night wars into a fractured battle waged on many fronts, from TV ratings to YouTube views. Many of those newer names have lost or left their shows, like Trevor Noah left The Daily Show and the loss of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and Desus & Mero.

Yoshiyuki Tomino is one of the greatest storytellers ever. The creator of the Gundam franchise has influenced multiple manga artists through his works and to date, remains a celebrity that people look up to. Even though his popularity extends overseas, Tomino has an infamous reputation for being too upright with his words.
The Gundam creator never sugar-coated his words and always delivered his true feelings. Hayao Miyazaki and he are from the same generation, yet he was brave enough to say that he never liked the multiple Academy Award winners. It surprised countless fans, but there is a particular reason as to why he felt such a thing.

Jimmy Kimmel spent much of 2022 vacillating as to whether he would continue hosting his eponymous late-night before striking a new, three-year deal.
The host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! revealed that one of the reasons he signed this deal was that he is “worried” about what he’ll do next.
But a bigger concern for the late-night world is that Kimmel doesn’t think there will necessarily be any late-night shows on network television in 2034.
“I don’t know if there will be any late-night television shows on network TV in ten years. Maybe there’ll be one but there won’t be a lot of them,” he said on the Politickin’ podcast. “There’s a lot to watch and now people can watch anything at anytime, they’ve got all these streaming services. The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival has been plunged into chaos a month before its 2024 edition.
The opening press conference in Toronto on Tuesday was overshadowed by news that the Hot Docs artistic director, Hussain Currimbhoy, and 10 programmers had left the festival organizing team ahead of the 2024 edition kicking off on April 25.
Hot Docs in a festival statement confirmed Currimbhoy’s departure as artistic director on March 20, “due to personal reasons.” “Regrettably, some members of the programming team have decided not to participate in this year’s festival. We thank them for their contributions,” the documentary festival added.
Their departure forced Hot Docs president Marie Nelson — the former ABC News and Disney exec who took the helm at the Canadian festival in June 2023 — onto the back foot when she stepped forward to unveil the lineup for the 2024 edition.

Coleman Hough, who received solo screenplay credit on the quirky Steven Soderbergh-directed improvisational films Full Frontal and Bubble, has died. She was 62.
Hough died Feb. 24 at the Actors Fund Home in Englewood, New Jersey, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, her friend Jennifer Romine told The Hollywood Reporter. She was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s when she was 42.

A new interview with veteran animator Shinsaku Kozuma has revealed that Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki once segregated animators in the workspace based on blood type.
In an interview with animation blog Full Frontal, Kozuma recounted his long career, from working on Yu Yu Hakusho to multiple Final Fantasy titles, and even the latest season of Jujutsu Kaisen. Among his many anecdotes was a time he worked at Studio Ghibli with Hayao Miyazaki, revealing that in addition to levying high fines for lateness, the acclaimed director believed the superstition that blood types determined personalities. Anime producer Kazumasa Narita has defended Hideaki Anno, the creator of the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise, against allegations of abusive and violent behavior.
Narita spoke to ITMedia News about his experiences working on Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time (Shin Eva), in which he remarked on accusations that Anno was irrational, controlling on set, and did things like flipping tables over in anger. "Mr. Anno doesn't make changes that are irrational," Narita said. "When you're flipping tables because you dislike something, people won’t follow you. It might seem like he does that. Perhaps it was something that existed in the distant past before I joined. However, in reality, when you want to change something or give instructions, it’s simple: if there’s a possibility to improve the existing image or create something better, that’s the judgment criterion. Late-night comedy has undergone a dramatic shift in the past few years with the exits of David Letterman, Jon Stewart, and Conan O’Brien from the late night desk. Stewart then returned, only to have his show, The Problem With Jon Stewart, canceled by Apple TV + when he refused to censor his views. We saw the arrival of many fresh faces, turning the late-night wars into a fractured battle waged on many fronts, from TV ratings to YouTube views. In the last year, many of those newer names have lost their shows, however, as Trevor Noah left The Daily Show and James Corden said goodbye to The Late Late Show. We also lost Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and Desus & Mero. Most recently, Taylor Tomlinson took over James Corden's slot with her new series, After Midnight.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 chief animation director Terumi Nishii -- also known for her animation work on the likes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Mawaru Penguindrum and Servant × Service -- has called the latest Mappa criticism by a fellow Jjk animator "refreshing."
Nishii's comments come days after the popular French Jujutsu Kaisen and One Piece animator Chansard Vincent shared why he would never work with Mappa again, citing not wanting to "support a company that ideologically doesn't care about working conditions." Nishii called the remarks refreshing in her own post to X (formerly Twitter). "'Ideologically' is very refreshing," she said. "I think if there were more people like this in the anime industry, the working environment would be a little more comfortable."

The recent The Boy and the Heron documentary on Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki, 2399 Days with Hayao Miyazaki & Studio Ghibli, garnered controversy this week after many people knowledgeable of Ghibli's affairs considered it an exaggerated and even false account.
Given the title, many fans who expected the Nhk documentary to dive into The Boy and the Heron's long production were disappointed with what appeared to be a dramatized account of Miyazaki himself. Masakatsu Ishizone, who was a director's assistant in Ghibli's Princess Mononoke and My Neighbors the Yamadas, noted his disappointment, saying, "I'm watching the Nhk Hayao Miyazaki special feature, but this is truly presenting a 'false history,' isn't it? It connects his statements intermittently and crosses the wires between episodes and anecdotes. You have to watch it very carefully and objectively. It's not about whether it's accurate or inaccurate. I can't comprehend the mentality behind making something like this.

It’s been a strange year for late-night and things are only going to get weirder.
All of the late-night shows were dark between May and October as as a result of the writers strike and the genre lost one of its longer-running shows as The Late Late Show, which has run for over 5,000 episodes since 1995, is to be replaced by an old Comedy Central game show.
The change hasn’t been quite as significant as last year when James Corden and Trevor Noah revealed they’d be stepping down, Warner Bros. Discovery’s new regime killed Samantha Bee’s Full Frontal and Desus & Mero, who, for some, were the duo to reinvigorate the field, broke up.
Late-night, it seems, is just ticking along.

Two anime industry veterans, including the director of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, have stirred controversy over their recent comments regarding AI.
As reported by the animation blog Full Frontal, Bleach: Tybw director Tomohisa Taguchi and Keiichi Hara held a panel at the Annecy Film Festival, describing their filmmaking histories. As Hara spoke about his latest film, he took aim at animators in Japan who reportedly drove up the budget due to their laziness and incompetence, calling them "leeches." He also revealed a growing trend of talented animators getting paid before producing any work and allegedly not giving 100% to the project because of it.

Chris McCarthy has a big decision to make.
Nearly twelve months on to the day that Trevor Noah said goodbye to The Daily Show, the Comedy Central series still does not have a permanent host.
But a decision is expected soon with sources telling Deadline that Paramount is facing pressure to name a new host by the end of the year.
There have been a number of shortlists and stars mentioned throughout the process, which was hampered by the writers and actors strike, and obviously there was the Hasan Minhaj situation, where the Patriot Act star basically had the job before that New Yorker article came out.
But many in the late-night and comedy community believe that McCarthy and his team already have viable options right under their noses and with it the opportunity to shake-up the talk show landscape with a fresh take and in the process bolster diversity...

X’s Unique Un-Sales Strategy: CEO Linda Yaccarino Woos Advertisers; Owner Elon Musk Drives Them Away

If movie and TV studios get nervous about advertising, so should everyone else.
Advertisers loathe controversy, and often “pull” or “yank” their commercials from individual pieces of content that generate it. But the studios have stiffer spines. They don’t run garden-variety commercials, but rather trailers and sneak previews of much-anticipated TV programs, and their target consumer is typically young men, who often don’t feel the outrage of advocacy groups eager to spur boycotts of a cable-news channel, a scripted series with a controversial star; or a reality program that offends. Studios don’t often feel the need to stop running their ads, particularly when an opening weekend’s box office tally might be at stake. In 2018, when many advertisers suspended their support of comedian Samantha Bee’s “Full Frontal” on TBS following a joke she made about Ivanka Trump, then the daughter of the then-u.S. President, Comcast...

The 2000s were a great time for science fiction. Thanks to The Matrix closing out the 90s, studios were more willing to give the green light to stories about science gone awry, leading to favorites such as A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Paprika, as well as superhero hits like Spider-Man 2, X2, and Iron Man.

It’s been so long since Steven Soderbergh announced his recut of Kafka––so long since the thing even premiered at TIFF––that one could assume it was no longer in play. But reemergence, it seems, is in store: Indiewire have announced the U.S. premiere of his new edition, Mr. Kneff, will occur at Nitehawk’s Prospect Park location on November 9, with a complimentary cocktail made from Soderbergh’s Signani 63 offered. Tickets are now on-sale.
The official synopsis is scant: “A writer guy in 1919 Prague uses his dead-end job as inspiration for his fantastical fiction.” But the extent of Soderbergh’s revision is huge: the movie’s lost 20 minutes and, what’s more, all dialogue––silent-movie accompaniment includes an instrumental of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.”
If you (like me) aren’t in New York on November 9, it’s comfort to know Nitehawk’s premiere shouldn’t be the end of the road.

Steven Soderbergh’s “Mr. Kneff” is finally landing stateside.
The recut version of 1991’s “Kafka” stars Jeremy Irons as a writer in 1919 Prague; the film has had new iterations unveiled in 2013 and 2021, respectively. Now, Soderbergh is revealing the first ever U.S. screening of the 2021 recut “Kafka,” titled “Mr. Kneff.” The premiere will take place at Nitehawk Cinema in Prospect Park on November 9 at 7 p.m.
The official logline of “Mr. Kneff” reads: “A writer guy in 1919 Prague uses his dead-end job as inspiration for his fantastical fiction.” Jeremy Irons, Theresa Russell, Joel Grey, Ian Holm, Jeroen Krabbé, Armin Mueller-Stahl, and Alec Guinness star in the cult classic which marked Soderbergh’s sophomore directorial effort after “sex, lies, and videotape.” Soderbergh will participate in a Q&a following the U.S. premiere.

Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe have found their next act.
The Oscar-winning duo behind police brutality short Two Distant Strangers and, more recently, HBO’s Bs High, have teamed with Group Nine Studios’ former president Mickey Meyer to launch a new entertainment company titled The Unreasnble. The goal of the full-service media company is to develop, produce, finance and incubate stories that have had historically limited access to mainstream media.
“The work stoppages and battles we recently experienced and are still experiencing across our industry for fair and equitable pay and ownership of our work is a clear sign we can no longer adapt to the ways of this business,” explains Free, “but instead we have to adapt it to us, the creators, and that’s what we intend to do.”

Bill Maher has faced a lot of criticism after revealing that he was bringing Real Time back to HBO next week.
Called out by a slew of striking writers on social media, the WGA called the move “disappointing” and said that they would picket the show on its return.
But the other question that Maher’s move provoked was whether the remaining late-night hosts – The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Late Night’s Seth Meyers and Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver – would make a similar move.
As it stands, the answer seems to be a hearty ‘No’.

While some celebrated filmmakers like Martin Scorsese have never had a "rotten" film, there have been many movies that broke a director's hot streak. There are some big-name directors working in Hollywood whose names are just as bankable as any actor, and many of them are still working today. Christopher Nolan just released Oppenheimer, Quentin Tarantino is working on his 10th movie, and Michael Mann's Ferrari biopic is scheduled for release in Winter 2023. All of these movies had or will have their visionary filmmakers' names on the poster before any actor because they're reliable and have a guaranteed audience.
Unfortunately, every filmmaker has a bad day at the office, and it happens to visionary auteurs after long hot streaks more often than not. As respected filmmakers are given higher budgets and more creative freedom, that's bound to get the best of them after a certain number of instant classics.

Seth Meyers has become one of the elder statemen of late-night.
Meyers has been hosting NBC’s Late Night for nearly ten years, starting a week after Jimmy Fallon began his stint helming The Tonight Show. Other than Jimmy Kimmel, who has been on air for over 20 years, the NBC pair’s shows have been on air longer than The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and has seen off the likes of Trevor Noah on The Daily Show, James Corden on The Late Late Show and Samantha Bee on Full Frontal, who all started after him.

Exclusive: The late-night community is over the moon after it emerged that there will be five Emmy nominations this year.
Emmy voting opened today, and Deadline understands that there are 19 submissions in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category, far more than expected, which, given the math, means that there will be five nominations this year.
One late-night source told Deadline this was “unexpected” but a “positive” move, meaning that that the sector no longer has to lament the loss of another Emmy slot.
Given that Last Week Tonight with John Oliver has been moved to the Outstanding Scripted Variety Series category this year after seven consecutive wins for Outstanding Variety Talk Series, it is a boon for The Daily Show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

John Oliver will not be picking up his eighth straight Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series at this September’s gala.
The Last Week Tonight host will instead be battling it out with Saturday Night Live, and potentially A Black Lady Sketch Show, in the Outstanding Scripted Variety Series category after the TV Academy made a number of changes at the end of last year.
The move means the late-night talk show Emmy race will crown another victor – the first non-Oliver win since The Daily Show with Jon Stewart won the award in 2015. Ironically, Stewart is now back in the same category with his Apple series, The Problem with Jon Stewart, after moving from the Outstanding Hosted Non-Fiction Series category.

James Corden is leaving The Late Late Show much like he entered: with a bang.
Corden kicked off his first show on March 23, 2015 with a coup. He managed to persuade Tom Hanks to perform his entire filmography in an episode that also featured appearances from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Billy Crystal, Chris Rock and Meryl Streep.
Having spent the past eight years driving and singing with A-listers such as Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder and Michelle Obama, passing Penny Lane with Paul McCartney and jumping out of a plane with Tom Cruise, he’s closing his CBS late-night show Thursday with guests including Harry Styles and Will Ferrell as well as a musical performance with Cruise during The Lion King at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood.

Okay, I admittedly came in hot by calling the folks at Comedy Central "cowards" in that headline, because that's probably not the correct word to use to describe a channel that has been letting Trey Parker and Matt Stone run wild for over 25 years. When it was announced last fall that Trevor Noah would be leaving "The Daily Show" after seven fantastic years, fans immediately started fantasy booking his successor. There was a big push for Samantha Bee, of the recently canceled "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee" to become the show's first full-time female host, with others hoping the job went to one of Noah's roll of correspondents. Comedy Central instead announced that they would showcase a weekly rotation of guest hosts, with some of comedy's smartest minds sitting behind "The Daily Show" desk.

Exclusive: Nearly a year after her late-night show came to an end, Samantha Bee is continuing to offer some choice words, this time in podcasting.
The Full Frontal host is launching a new podcast series, Choice Words, with Lemonada Media.
The weekly series, which launches on June 1, will see Bee sit down with celebrities, politicians, and everyone in between to discuss the biggest choices they’ve made in their lives and the ripple effects those decisions have had.
Bee will also dig into why so many of our current issues stem not just from what we aren’t allowed to do, but that we are denied actual choice in the matter. Topics will range from what to eat for breakfast and which subway car to take, to who you are voting for and what you do with your body.

John Oliver has fired the first shot at his new Emmy rival Saturday Night Live – six months before his show Last Week Tonight will go head-to-head in a new awards category.
The British comedian, whose show returns for its tenth season on February 19, posted a hosting announcement to his social media channels that looks an awful lot like the ones that Saturday Night Live posts when they make a score a new host.
In the past, this wouldn’t have got any attention but given the fact that Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, which won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Talk Series for the last seven years, will now compete directly against SNL, which has won the Emmy for Variety Sketch Series for the past six years, it feels like shots fired.
Whether he’ll actually have a horse on the show is anyone’s guess, but don’t rule it out.

CBS is dipping back into the recent past to fill the late night slot that’s soon to open up when its The Late Late Show With James Corden departs.
The network is set to replace the long-running Late Late Show franchise with a reboot of comedic panel game show @midnight, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter. Stephen Colbert, who hosts The Late Show for the network, is on board as executive producer of the revived program that aired 600 episodes on Comedy Central before signing off in August 2017.
Reps for CBS declined to comment.
@midnight, which launched in October 2013, aired Mondays through Thursdays on the basic-cable network, with host Chris Hardwick asking internet-themed questions to three comedian guests. Samantha Bee is set to host a Canadian Screen Awards one-hour special. The country’s national film and TV awards will not be broadcast or streamed live this year, as happened pre-pandemic.
Instead, the former host of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee will emcee a pre-taped, one-hour special, The Canadian Screen Awards with Samantha Bee. The recap show will feature celebrity interviews and highlights from prize giving during CSA award shows held in private and in person for the first time in four years.
Canadians featured during the TV special will include Ryan Reynolds, Catherine O’Hara and Simu Liu, who will receive special awards during this year’s CSAs. Last year, the national awards show handed out top prizes during a one-hour virtual awards show on the CBC and CBC Gem that had no TV commercials and saw winners mostly accepting trophies remotely from their homes.
