Johnny Depp could make a comeback to the ‘Pirate of the Caribbean’ franchise. The 61-year-old actor had been the star of the swashbuckling series for 14 years thanks to his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. But Disney dropped him after he was accused of spousal abuse against his ex-wife Amber Heard in 2018, for which he was cleared in court.Variety is now reporting that the studio is considering bringing Depp back for another film.According to the outlet, Disney has not yet approached the ‘Edward Scissorhands’ star about possibly returning to the series, but have commissioned ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ producer Jerry Bruckheimer to develop two different scripts with and without Depp depending on if the studio can reconcile with the actor.A source said: “Nothing has been ruled out.”The outlet suggested Disney has been weighing up its options since the ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ actor prevailed against Heard...

Tim Burton may have reawakened the Ghost With the Most in the recently released sequel to his 1988 comedy-horror film “Beetlejuice,” but that didn’t seem to convince the filmmaker to revisit some of his other classics.
During a Q&a at the Marrakech International Film Festival on Saturday (via IndieWire), Burton dismissed the possibility of developing a sequel to 1990’s “Edward Scissorhands,” which starred Johnny Depp as the titular role.
“There are certain films I don’t want to make a sequel to,” Burton said. “I didn’t want to make a sequel to that because it felt like a one-off thing. I didn’t want to have a sequel for ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ because it also felt like a one-off thing. Certain things are best left on their own, and that, for me, is one of them.”

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Box Office (Worldwide): Hits $450M(Photo Credit – Instagram)
Tim Burton’s gothic horror comedy is determined to keep going at the box office. Despite being available on digital platforms, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice refuses to leave the theatres. Not only in North America but globally as well, the movie is still performing better than many other new releases. Jenna Ortega, Monica Belucci, Justin Theroux, and Willem Dafoe join the Og cast of Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara in this latest sequel, creating the same old magic after over three decades.
It is one of the highest-grossing films of the year. It seems to be planning to become the director’s second-highest-grossing film by beating Charlie and the Chocolate Pactory’s global haul. Beating Tim’s biggest film, Alice in Wonderland, would be too farfetched as it collected around $1.02 billion worldwide.

Johnny Depp was once one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, known for his iconic role in films like Pirates of the Caribbean, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Edward Scissorhands. While his unique acting style and humor made him a household name, it was not until the highly publicized defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. The prosecution not only brought a sharp downturn to his critically acclaimed career, but the fallout in his personal life also led to significant professional downfalls, losing his roles at the Disney and WB franchises.
Looking back at the actor’s career, he has contributed significantly to the industry.

Tim Burton isn’t looking to go down any dark holes on the World Wide Web anytime soon.
Ahead of the opening of his new The World of Tim Burton exhibition in London, the legendary filmmaker revealed to BBC News that “anybody who knows me knows I’m a bit of a technophobe.”
“If I look at the Internet, I found that I got quite depressed. It scared me because I started to go down a dark hole. So I try to avoid it because it doesn’t make me feel good,” Burton explained. “I get depressed very quickly, maybe more quickly than other people. But it doesn’t take me much to start to click and start to short circuit.”

Thanks to breakout roles in the Scream revival, Netflix's Wednesday and this year's Beetlejuice sequel, Jenna Ortega is fast becoming one of the most sought-after young actors in Hollywood, so it probably won't come as much of a surprise to learn that she's being courted by Marvel Studios.
According to scooper Mttsh, Ortega is now in talks for an undisclosed Marvel Cinematic Universe role.
It's always worth noting that Marvel meets with a lot of talent, but if Ortega has actually entered negotiations for an upcoming project, there's a good chance the trades will get hold of the story before too long.
Even if she is in talks, there's no guarantee that things will work out. Ortega has a busy schedule ahead, with a lead role in Taika Waititi's Klara and the Sun adaptation, and an untitled Trey Edward Shults film that will co-star The Weeknd and Barry Keoghan.

Prince Charming, the love interest of many a Disney princess, is getting his very own feature film.
“Wonka” filmmaker Paul King, who also helmed the first two “Paddington” features, is directing “Prince Charming” for Disney. King, Simon Barnaby and Jon Croker are co-writing the screenplay, of which plot details have not been confirmed. It’s unclear if the film will be live action or animated.
In classic fairy tales, the Prince Charming character is one who rescues a damsel in distress and sets out to save her from evil forces/ stepmothers. See: “Cinderella,” “Snow White,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Rapunzel” and basically any other 20th century Disney movie. In those films, however, he’s usually a side character and not the main star. Though Prince Charming was originally the love interest of Cinderella, this project will not be specifically linked to the curfew-breaking princess, according to Deadline Hollywood, who reported the news...

Keeping up with the vast and enchanting world of Harry Potter, fans often come up with whimsical and deliciously intriguing theories surrounding the character and the universe. This time, we’re back with a rather far-fetched theory that seems to weave together two pieces of literature—J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World and Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Well, the theory posits that George Weasley, the beloved twin from the Harry Potter series, is none other than Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka, the eccentric chocolatier from Roald Dahl’s timeless tale. While this theory might seem bizarre at first, it truly holds a hint of chocolatey imagination beneath the surface.

Village Roadshow Entertainment Group, the production and finance company that has backed the Matrix and Ocean’s franchises, is undergoing a small round of layoffs.
The banner, led by CEO Steve Mosko, has cut eight staffers in business affairs, administration, as well as film and TV roles over the course of the past couple of weeks, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The pink slips arrive as the company is exploring strategic options, including taking on more investors.
On the deals front, Village Roadshow has been relatively quiet this year. The company, which has produced more than 90 features with Warner Bros. over the past several decades including Mad Max: Fury Road, Joker and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, has been locked in arbitration with the studio since it filed a lawsuit in February 2022.

The prevailing wisdom on Tim Burton is that the filmmaker lost his touch somewhere between 1996's "Mars Attacks!" and 2003's "Big Fish." Especially in the post "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" years, when he really embraced CGI, the general consensus is that Burton became somewhat of a parody of himself. But with "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" it seems the filmmaker has gotten his mojo back, reviving his love of practical effects and the subversive element of his earlier films to deliver a movie that proves the now 66-year-old has still got it.
For me, Burton will forever be one of, if not my favorite filmmaker, simply because his earlier movies set my young imagination alight in a way no other film, TV Show, or any media has. Specifically, his 1992 "Batman" sequel "Batman Returns" remains my most transporting movie experience. The world created by Burton and production designer Bo Welch felt so immersive...

Transformers One has come in below expectations, allowing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to hold on to the top spot at the domestic box office for the third week in a row.
Analysts predicted $30 million to $40 million debut for Paramount's animated prequel, which only ended up taking in $25 million from 3,978 venues. The movie - which had a reported budget of $75 million - also made $14 million internationally, for a global total of $39 million.
Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel added $26 million from 4,172 theaters, bringing its domestic total to $225 million, and $329.7 million worldwide.
Transformers One received positive reviews (89% on Rotten Tomatoes) and strong audience scores, so the belief is that ticket sales could rebound over the next few weeks.

That puts the animated prequel, co-produced by Paramount Animation and Hasbro Entertainment, on track for a $26.3 million opening weekend in North America, pacing behind industry projections for a $30 million-plus debut.
Those domestic numbers don’t qualify as a definitive nonstarter for the Paramount release, which was produced at a $75 million budget — a smaller price tag than is typical for a studio animated feature, or a live-action “Transformers” entry for that matter. Moreover, this franchise has proven to be more appealing to international audiences, especially in recent years. But it’s difficult to imagine that there weren’t hopes for a bigger opening to put some more space between “Transformers One” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which, in its third weekend, is still a contender to lead the charts.

It's only been a couple of weekends but it's already safe to say that Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" is one of the biggest box office hits of the year — at least in North America anyhow. The long-awaited sequel to Burton's 1988 classic has been well over three decades in the making. It's crystal clear that everything came together at the right time as audiences have been flocking to theaters to see the Beetlejuice and the Deetz family reunited after all this time. So much so that the sequel is already one of the ten biggest domestic hits of 2024.
"Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" took in an estimated $51.6 million domestically on its second weekend, which was more than enough to top the charts. That represents a 53% drop compared to the film's opening weekend, which was a stellar $111 million, making it one of the biggest openings of 2024 thus far. Reviews were good. Word of mouth has been good.

The Juice has well and truly been set loose at the box office, as Tim Burton's long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel claims the No. 1 spot from Deadpool and Wolverine with a record-breaking domestic debut.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice scared up an estimated $110 million in North America ($145M worldwide) to give it the 3rd biggest opening of 2024; 2nd biggest opening ever for Tim Burton; 2nd best September opening, and 2nd biggest opening ever for a horror film, surpassing Warner Bros.' It: Chapter 2.
This also means that the sequel has already surpassed the original movie's entire global gross ($74 million) after a single weekend in theaters.
Getting back to Marvel Studios' massively successful first foray into R-rated territory, and it looks like the movie is set to premiere on Digital platforms early next month (we're still waiting on an official announcement).

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now in theaters, and we're breaking down the long-awaited sequel's batsh*t crazy final act to see if the door to the Afterlife might be left open for a third movie.
Major spoilers follow.
When her daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega) is tricked into trading her soul to restore the ghost of murderous neighbour/love-interest Jeremy (Arthur Conti) to life, Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) reluctantly summons Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) for help. The Ghost with the Most agrees to bring Lydia to the Afterlife to rescue Astrid... if she'll sign a contract promising to be his bride.
Lydia manages to bring Astrid home, but has already agreed to marry Rory (Justin Theroux), who Betelgeuse exposes as a gold-digging cad. Still, the prospect of tying the knot with a lecherous demon isn't exactly appealing to Lydia, and Astrid manages to find a loophole which allows her mother out of the bargain.

The films of Tim Burton are known for their baffling, unique, and unforgettable creations. These films are as focused on a visual aesthetic and the designs within that aesthetic as they are on the people and stories. Though not all of Burton's films are classics (in part because the visuals can sometimes get in the way of a good story or because the visuals are the only notable aspect), there's plenty to look at and marvel at. His latest film, "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," isn't just a return to one of his earliest films, but it's a return to more practical effects, which is a win for both him as a creator and for the audiences who fell in love with his work in the 1980s and 1990s. Across different genres and worlds, Burton's films boast some memorably weird creatures — let's count down the 10 best and see if anyone from his latest affair shows up.

Director Jeremy Saulnier’s gritty action thriller Rebel Ridge brilliantly balances the intensity of its grounded spectacle with an intimate, emotionally charged undertone, and part of the credit for this perfect assimilation goes to the compelling performance by the cast and memorable characterization. Not only the lead roles played by veteran actors who are ever reliable in their craft, but even the minor characters played by relatively new performers with minimal screen time made a lasting impact in the movie despite having mostly conventional parts, which goes on to prove not only the deftness of script but also proper casting as well.

Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is now in theaters, and, as fans hoped it would, the movie does explain what happened to the original film's protagonists.
Though Michael Keaton's titular Ghost with the Most was obviously the main attraction in Tim Burton's horror comedy classic, the main characters were actually Adam and Barbara Maitland (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis).
The recently married couple are killed in a car accident in the first few minutes of the movie, and their displaced spirits wind up summoning Betelgeuse in an effort to drive the new owners of their house (Winona Ryder's Lydia Deetz and her family) away. Things don't exactly go according to plan, however.
Ultimately, Betelgeuse is banished, and the Deetzs and Maitlands agree to share the house.
Keaton, Ryder and Catherine O'Hara (who plays Lydia's mother) reprise their roles for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but Baldwin and Davis don't appear.

Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel to his cult classic, Beetlejuice, opens this weekend, and the movie is expected to have a ghoulishly good debut at the box office.
According to the latest estimates (via Deadline), Beetlejuice Beetlejuice should take in around $145 million worldwide (Warner Bros. is anticipating an $80M domestic bow). If this proves to be accurate, the sequel will debut with more than the lifetime gross of the original 1988 movie, which finished its run at $74.6M, unadjusted for inflation.
The chaotic horror comedy should also claim the spot from Marvel Studios' Deadpool and Wolverine, which - despite briefly being dethroned by Alien: Romulus - has remained at #1 for six weekends it's been in theaters.
Do you plan on seeing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice this weekend? You can check out our reaction to the movie below.

Despite the massive success of Tim Burton’s 1990 film Edward Scissorhands, Brian Cox has a unique take on its leading star, Johnny Depp. The film features Depp as the titular character, a synthetic man with scissors for hands who is taken in by a kind lady, only to face a series of unfortunate events after being wrongfully accused of a crime.

Earlier this year, A Song of Ice and Fire creator George R.R. Martin wrote a blog post where he discussed the difficult process of adapting a book for the screen. He did not mince words in complaining about how often the stories tend to degrade in the transition. "Everywhere you look, there are more screenwriters and producers eager to take great stories and 'make them their own,'" he wrote. "It does not seem to matter whether the source material was written by Stan Lee, Charles Dickens, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ursula K. Le Guin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Mark Twain, Raymond Chandler, Jane Austen, or… well, anyone. No matter how major a writer it is, no matter how great the book, there always seems to be someone on hand who thinks he can do better, eager to take the story and 'improve' on it. 'The book is the book, the film is the film,...

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: First Clips Make It Clear That The Ghost With The Most Hasn't Changed A Bit
Tim Burton's Beetlejuice sequel arrives in theaters next month, and Warner Bros. has released the first two clips from the movie online.
The first drops us in on a family reunion between Delia Deetz (Catherine O'Hara), daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) and her kid Astrid (Jenna Ortega), who have returned to Winter River after the death of patriarch Charles (played by Jeffrey Jones in the original movie).
The next clip spotlights the Ghost with the Most himself (Michael Keaton), who is clearly still carrying a torch for Lydia - who was only 17 when they met.
This has always been one of the creepier plot points in the first movie, but anyone under the assumption that the lecherous Bio-Exorcist will be "evolving" with the times might be in for a bit of a shock.
"My whole career, there have always been people, like, 'This is too dark, which I never saw my films as dark,...

Justin Theroux is crediting Tim Burton for, well, continuing his Tim Burton auteurism without letting studios interfere.
Theroux, who stars in long-awaited sequel film “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” told Total Film that the feature was “not made by taking polls from audiences and studio notes.” Simply put, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” was not made by committee.
“This movie takes some very big swings,” Theroux said, while comparing the viewing experience to watching Willy Wonka’s psychedelic boat ride in 1971’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
“There’s the phantasmagoria and it feels slightly out of control and unhinged. It has that vibe to it,” Theroux continued of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which will open the Venice Film Festival. “It’s clear this movie was not made by taking polls from audiences, and studio notes, and executives going, ‘Well, what’s the most satisfying act three?’ This is 100 percent like someone opening the front of Tim Burton’s head,...

In recent years, Johnny Depp has gotten all the wrong kinds of attention in Hollywood. While many knew him for his excellent acting, the world shifted their focus to his personal life during his trial with Amber Heard. However, after his triumph in the public altercation with his ex-wife, he went straight back to his craft and starred in Jeanne du Barry.

Johnny Depp has been known for his knack for portraying unconventional characters throughout his career. The actor has never been comfortable with being typecast in one specific genre. His films like Edward Scissorhands, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Sleepy Hollow, and his collaborations with Tim Burton proved that he thrived through wild transformations and drastically different characters.

Perhaps one of the most fantastical and unconventional movies directed by Tim Burton, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) made waves in the musical as well as fantasy genre. The movie has managed to hold attention of fans for several years due to Burton’s whimsical style and the illustrated plot.
What most fans managed to overlook is a slight connection that exists in this movie with another one of Burton’s masterpieces, Batman (1989). The link is very subtle and can classify as intelligent wordplay or inspired reference.
The hidden plot twist or is it?
In the 1989 Batman movie directed by Tim Burton, one of the major plot lines involves a fictional chemical compound used by Gotham’s notorious bad boy- Joker. This chemical was called ‘smylex’ which supposedly once released in the air could cause people to laugh uncontrollably, eventually causing death.

Emma Corrin is teasing their new role in the Deadpool & Wolverine film, where they star opposite Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Corrin plays Cassandra Nova, Dr. Charles Xavier’s villainous twin sister, in the new Marvel Studios film. For the role, they drew inspiration from characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Inglourious Basterds.
“I drew inspiration from Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds, which was Ryan’s reference when we started,” Corrin told People in an interview referring to Christopher Waltz’s character in the Quentin Tarantino film.
Corrin added, “And then not a villain, but I was really inspired by Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka. Sort of a nonchalant, detached power.”
In a previous interview, Corrin said they wanted to pay homage to the actors who have previously played Charles Xavier, such as Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy.
“I did look back at those two performances,” they told Screen Rant.
Corrin plays Cassandra Nova, Dr. Charles Xavier’s villainous twin sister, in the new Marvel Studios film. For the role, they drew inspiration from characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Inglourious Basterds.

Warner Bros. has released the full trailer for Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and it reveals a lot more about the plot of the legendary's director's long-awaited sequel.
The footage begins with Jenna Ortega's sceptic Astrid Deetz - seemingly estranged from her "alleged mother" - becoming a believer after being abducted by unknown supernatural forces. With nowhere else to turn, Lydia (Winona Ryder) reluctantly summons her old "friend" Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) for help.
The batsh*t Bio-Exorcist agrees to accompany Lydia to the afterlife to rescue her daughter, but can he be trusted? We're gonna take a wild guess and say, not a chance!
The teaser also gives us another look at Willem Dafoe as Afterlife Cop Wolf Jackson, Monica Bellucci as Betelgeuse's ex-wife Delores. There's also a gross-out moment towards the end when Betelgeuse...

Get ready to rally with Chalamet.
Timothée Chalamet is set to star in and produce “Marty Supreme,” an original movie from Josh Safdie and A24. Sources close to the film say “Marty Supreme” is a fictionalized story, while Variety hears the film is inspired by professional ping pong player Marty Reisman.
“Marty Supreme” is written by Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, who produce alongside Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas. The film reunites Safdie with producer A24, which distributed his last two features, “Uncut Gems” and “Good Time.”
A24 confirmed the news in a social media post, writing, “Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme starring @RealChalamet. Coming soon.”

With just a couple of months left before Tim Burton and Michael Keaton's long-awaited Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arrives in theaters, DC Comics has shared a slew of variant covers featuring the chaotic "bio-exorcist" invading the DC Universe.
These will begin rolling out next month and feature the sequel's title character crossing paths with the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn.
However, the cover which has received the most attention is Beetlejuice looming large over Batman; it's not just any version of the Dark Knight, though! As we're sure you'll notice, that's the Batman played by Keaton in Burton's Batman and Batman Returns.
Here's when and where you'll find each of these variant covers:
Gotham City Sirens #2 - August 13 House of Secrets #92 (2024 Facsimile Edition) - August 21 Nightwing #117 - August 21 Superman #17 - August 21 Wonder Woman #12 - August 21 Batman #152 - September 4

One of the most enigmatic actors out there, Johnny Depp had a somewhat modest start as a regular on the TV series “21 Jump Street,” Depp has put together a remarkably diverse collection of film roles, most of which have one thing in common — he is drawn to playing outcasts or people who are on the edges of society who go their own way — and going his own way is certainly something that’s been a hallmark of this much-awarded actor’s career.
In Depp’s almost four-decade (beginning with 1984’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street”), he has earned a remarkable 10 Golden Globe Award nominations, winning the Best Actor prize for the 2007 musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” That film also garnered Depp his third Academy Award nomination (along with 2003’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” and 2004’s “Finding Neverland”). There are hardly any films in the fantasy fiction genre that do not cater to children. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Harry Potter films, Enchanted, The Chronicles of Narnia, How to Train Your Dragon, The Golden Compass, Hugo, Dischanted, Aladdin, etc., are some of the examples of the films many of us have grown up on. Kleks Academy is a Polish Netflix original that tells the story of a young woman discovering her family secret and using it for the benefit of others. This 2023 film is directed by Maciej Kawulski and is now streaming on Netflix.
Kleks Academy is a two-hour-long movie that is based on the novel of the same name by Polish author Jan Brzechwa. Ada Contrary is a young girl in her teens busy making a vlog for her father, who seems to have disappeared from her and her mother’s lives for good. Simultaneously, a...

Timothée Chalamet’s career has popped off exponentially in the past few years as he has now cemented himself as one of the most bankable young actors in the business. A few months back, the actor even broke John Travolta’s nearly 50-year-old record of headlining two highest-grossing films within the span of eight months, thanks to the success of Dune 2 and Wonka.
With the former set to receive a threequel, WB is not losing its biggest star anytime soon, as per reports, the studio might be ready to get the ball rolling on a Wonka sequel.

Johnny Depp’s breakout performance in Edward Scissorhands will remain one of Tim Burton’s all-time favorites. Several suggestions came Burton’s way for the lead role in the film at the time, but Depp had always been his choice for the role. However, the popular demand for the role did concern the Pirates of the Caribbean actor and his imposter syndrome kicked in.

Depp was so wrong about the inner thoughts that almost pulled him away from the role. He snatched the role from the likes of Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks and delivered one of the most eccentrically amazing performances.
