In Bram Stoker's 1897 novel "Dracula," the titular Count travels from his remote castle in the Carpathian Mountains to a new home in England on a ship called the Demeter. He travels with multiple coffins filled with earth and is sealed in a coffin of his own. Weeks after departing, the Demeter drifts into Whitby Harbor. No one is on board. Instantly, readers knew the story: Dracula -- requiring human blood to survive -- sneaked out of his coffin at night to pick off the Demeter's crew one by one. The reader is left to imagine their harrowing experience.
In André Øvredal's upcoming, long-gestating film "The Last Voyage of the Demeter," however, one no longer needs to imagine. The film is set entirely on the Demeter, depicting the crew discovering their dwindling numbers and the slow realization that a demonic vampire may be on board. The film stars Corey Hawkins,...

Need to catch up? Check out the previous Nashville recap here.
Gunnar? You barely know ‘er!
Nashville‘s resident blonde (at least while Juliette’s out of town) does his thing in this week’s episode — and by “his thing,” I mean “sleeps with a woman with whom he is professionally involved,” even though that arrangement didn’t work out for him with Scarlett… or Erin… or Hailey… or Zoey… or Autumn. Dude, the list goes on an it is embarrassing how inadequate you are at keeping it in your pants when a pretty woman with sweet pipes makes eyes at you.

On this episode of Nashville, titled "Beneath Still Waters," Gunnar tries to fight his attraction to Alannah, Scarlett learns more about Sean and Deacon and Jessie deal with an angry Daphne.
Alannah's performance with Gunnar, Avery (he's dealing with Juliette's absence but will only say about how he's pissed at the way she left) and Will was a big hit which pleases Avery and Gunnar but not Will. Twitter is blowing up with high praise for the new back-up singer, but Will is more about three men minus the little lady. But his objections seem to have less to do with Alannah and more to do with his increasingly bad mood thanks to his steroid usage.

After reading Tim Curran's Resurrection, I simply had to interview him. I Really loved his book, even at 666 pages (yep, you read that right – 666). Curran is a wonderful storyteller who really should be unleashed upon the general horror reading public sooner rather than later.
Read on for an in-depth look into the beautifully twisted mind of Tim Curran.
El: First off, Wow!! You put everything And the kitchen sink into Resurrection (review here). Best zombie novel I've read in quite a while! How did the book come into being?
Tc: I read somewhere about a mudslide in California. It washed out a cemetery and the coffins and corpses, skeletons and tombstones ended up in the town itself. Coffins came crashing through picture windows. Cadavers were deposited on porches and in trees, tombstones ended up in front yards. Some woman suffered a fatal heart attack when a casket came through...

I’m always up for a good Brian Yuzna movie. Although I’m not the biggest supporter of his recent output, I’m still a hardcore fan of his bizarre 1989 horror flick “Society,” as well as the highly underrated “Return of the Living Dead III.” And while you’re at it, toss his unnerving 1996 effort “The Dentist” onto the pile — I’m not ashamed. Much to my delight, Robert Hood’s Undead Backbrain is reporting that Yuzna is preparing to unleash the epic monster flick “Amphibious” upon the suspecting public, and they have plenty of snazzy pictures to prove it. Although the premise doesn’t sound completely sound, it’s got to be better than “Beneath Still Waters,” right? Just humor me. Here’s the lowdown: Marine biologist, Skylar Shane [Janna Fassaert], hires an expat charter boat captain, Jack Bowman [Michael Paré], to help her find prehistoric life form samples in the north Sumatran Sea.

I first became acquainted with Axelle Carolyn when she authored an article in Fangoria magazine and I was struck by her unusual name. At first I thought she had just flipped her names (I wasn’t aware at the time that “Axelle” is a Belgian/French female given name) and was really Carolyn Axelle. But as time went by and I actually worked with Axelle on several projects (and discovered that “Axelle” is a real girl’s name), I became one of her biggest fans. She has done it all and she’s only 30 years old – respected journalist, talented actor, stunning model and now she is a published horror fiction author. I want to be her when I grow up.
Strangely, for all the collaborations she and I have worked on, I have never spoken to her. Everything via e-mail or messaging. The same now with my first in-depth interview...
