Super Bowl XXV played in Tampa, Flordia in 1991, has to without a doubt rank as one of the best ever, because the game went to the wire. The game featured the high powered and explosive AFC champ the Buffalo Bills against the underdog and power clock team the NFC champ the New York Giants. The G men had surprised everyone with the upset win over the 49ers in the NFC title game, and many didn't give them a chance against the high powered Bills. It did look bleak as Buffalo jumped out to a 12-3 advantage, then the game took a turn towards big blue as the Giants started time consuming drives, and had the power runs with Ottis Anderson and the mistake free passing of Jeff Hostetler, and these drives would keep the explosive Bills offense and Jim Kelly off the field for nearly an hour. The game was close in the final quarter as the Bills drove the field, with a chance to win Scott Norwood missed a 47 yard field goal and the Giants win! To bad for the Bills anyway RB Thurman Thomas's performance was worth a mention with 190 total yards. Overall this was one of the best Super Bowls because the game was close all the way and it ended with high drama and a heart stopping finish. A real tribute to power football as the Giants proved you don't have to be explosive to win.
