In Super Bowl XXVII on a bright sunny day in southern California at the Rose Bowl you had the AFC Champion Buffalo Bills against the NFC Champion Dallas Cowboys, only to see that one team showed up and the other didn't! Finally in the fourth season of the Jimmy and Jerry plan the Cowboys once again became kings of the football world, and they had gotten to the top with not just an offensive trio of Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and Emmitt Smith, but also with a bone-crunching, takeaway controlling style defense. Dating back to the days of Jimmy Johnson's university of Miami days, he always preached team speed and defense that produced turnovers, well the turnovers proved to be the blow to the Buffalo Bills in this Super Bowl as the Cowboys collected nine on the way to a 52-17 rout. The Cowboys would dominate on both sides of the ball as I mentioned the defense producing all those turnovers, to knocking bills quarterback Jim Kelly out of the game to holding Thurman Thomas way below 100 yards rushing. Now the offense had a day that was expected of the stars, especially from quarterback Troy Aikman who was 22 of 30 for 4 touchdown passes, now that's the way to play in the big game, and a well deserved MVP award for Aikman. The only thing sunny on this January day in southern California at the Rose Bowl, in Pasadena was the Dallas Cowboys and the explosive speed and most of all the work of a wizard head coach Jimmy Johnson a well deserved victory for this confident man who in my opinion was one of the NFL's best coaches in history now enough said, except "how about them cowboys"!
