Another outrageous episode written by Mark Tuttle, who made this series with producer Paul Henning. I will say it again, when the show started filming in color, the episodes became positively Insane. Proof positive here.
Jethro becomes an inventor. He wants to join the Air Force and is tinkering with some sort of flying rocket (with feathers?) that you can strap on your body and jet into the air?? Shifting gears, comes the opportunity where Jethro ALSO has the chance to become a rock star? He invents yet another contraption called the Bodine o' Phone, an amplified microphone tied to a long stick and attached to a box with lots of old radio tubes. Translation: a pile of LOUD junk.
Best of the best -- absolutely unforgettable -- is Miss Jane donning a long black wig and joining Jethro as the NEW Sonny and Cher. You have to see this to believe it, and Nancy Kulp's stone-face Cher is a classic.
Look Tom D'Andrea as Kingsley and veteran actor Thomas B. Henry as Mr. Matthews. Judy the Chimp (Cousin Bessie) stops by, frequently seen on DAKTARI.
Classic line. Drysdale to Miss Jane: "I'll give you a five dollar raise!" To which she replies, "Five dollars a month?" "No, five dollars a YEAR." Red is Miss Jane's color with a white pearl necklace.
From SEASON 4 EPISODE 26. Remastered color dvd set. 4 dvds. Released 2014. Check out the mini classic cover with Jed holding a pitchfork. Seasons 6 through 9 are expected to be released on blu ray by 2027.
