The episode "Rabbit Redux" takes its name from the John Updike novel. The briefly-seen pink spot on Rochester Rabbit's face is supposed to be a melanoma from selling star maps out in the sun.

Goofs
The opening scenes of "Rabbit Redux", with Gil about to call Action, are lifted from the pilot episode--in the over-the-shoulder shot you can spot Rochester in his hole, even though he hadn't made his return yet.
