The yet-to-be-titled series marks Wayans's return to network comedy following his wildly successful sitcom "My Wife and Kids.

Chicago – Two comedies that were on the bubble of cancellation just a few months ago are being thrown into the deep end on Tuesday nights by ABC, starting tonight. “Happy Endings” and “Don’t Trust the B—— in Apt. 23” return at 8pm Cst and face off with similarly skewing comedies on NBC (“Go On” & “The New Normal”) and Fox (“New Girl” & “The Mindy Project”).All of these shows are also reaching a point where they’re being watched more on Hulu or other On Demand services than live. So how will their success be determined?
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
Perhaps there’s a better question — which ones are worth your time? I think the reason I lead with the pile-up of similar programming is because the quality level is also similar across the board. “New Girl” is probably the best of the six comedies but ABC may have the best overall hour...

TV's pilot season is starting to wind down, but a few final pieces of casting are taking place, including a changeup in Roseanne Barr's NBC comedy and CBS finding the the final lead for its comedy "Super Fun Night."
- Tricia O'Kelley, who played mean mom Marly Eckhardt on "The New Adventures of Old Christine," has joined the cast of "Downwardly Mobile," Barr's comedy pilot set at mobile home park. She replaces Salli Richardson ("Eureka"), who according to Deadline "could not sync up" with the other actors when the pilot had a run-through last week.
O'Kelley's character, Mrs. Denby, is the wife of a hedge-fund manager who has just lost all his money and hates being in the mobile park. She will clash with Barr's character, Rose, who manages the park. O'Kelley's credits also include recurring parts on "Secret Life of the American Teenager" and "Gilmore Girls."

It’s back! Happy Endings, the sitcom starring six attractive young Chicagoans, returns this week with its fizzy brand of hip comedy. It stars some familiar faces--such as Casey Wilson from SNL, who was criminally axed after one season. And Elisha Cuthbert, who was criminally kidnapped quite often on 24. They’re joined by Eliza Coupe (Scrubs), Zachary Knighton (FlashForward), Damon Wayans Jr. (writer and actor on The Underground), and Adam Pally (Taking Woodstock).
Happy Endings’ first season was hit and miss--often within the same episode. It made for frustrating viewing because it clearly has the potential to be a big hit (which is why ABC has given it the time slot right after Modern Family on Wednesday nights). The cast is solid and the writing was frequently almost there.
Because we at AfterElton like to be helpful, here are a few unsolicited suggestions for the show’s writers and producers...

Tim Allen’s return to primetime is a go: ABC ordered a new comedy that will star the Home Improvement star as a traditional manly-man in a progressive world. Elisha Cuthbert stars in ‘Happy Endings’

Chicago – ABC’s new sitcom “Happy Endings” is undeniably yet another “Friends” rip-off, an attempt to make a pal-com about relationships, misunderstandings, and good buddies. I’ve seen enough of these things that I automatically get a bit defensive when they appear on my desk. If you sat through junk like “Traffic Light” and “Perfect Couples,” you would too. So no one is more surprised than me to report that “Happy Endings” works. It isn’t perfect but it’s much closer to the quality level of its inspiration than anything we’ve seen in the last few years.
TV Rating: 3.5/5.0
Remember how “Friends” opened with Ross being left at the altar by his wife? Guess what happens in the opening scene of “Happy Endings”? As if the 3-guys-3-girls parallel and general style of the show didn’t make its inspiration clear enough, “Happy Endings” opens with the same conceit,...

ABC's Happy Endings is yet another in a growing list of recent premieres with titles that don't make a lot of sense to me (Don't get me started on Fox's Traffic Light, which at one point had the perfectly sensible working title Mixed Signals). A sort of next-gen Friends, Happy Endings kicks things up a notch by opening with the wedding of two of the six... friends.
