"Dead fields under a November sky, scattered rose petals brown and turning up at the edges, empty pools scummed with algae, rot, decomposition, dust... "
These lines from Stephen King's "Pet Sematary" capture the disintegration of the natural order like clockwork, doomed to occur at some point, like that of a robust life coming to a close. Death is inevitable, but so is grief, and the raging, intense kind can often tip us over to the other side, where it is tempting to disrupt the cyclical nature of life and death. The Creed family in King's 1983 novel face this dilemma, where the idea of an ancient burial ground bringing the dead back to life holds unimaginable power over grieving, broken hearts. However, what's dead must stay dead, as any kind of rebirth will always be tinted with an uncanny aspect, with these resurrected beings looking and feeling "a little dead.

Sanguisugabogg have returned with the new stand-alone single and video “Permanently Fucked.”
The death metal upstarts have never shied from the profane and grotesque, both in music and visuals, so “Permanently Fucked” and its gory video are very on-brand for the band.

This is grinding death metal of the old-school vein, complete with the obligatory deep guttural vocals, horrific lyrical content, and an excessively tight snare drum. Tectonic death-doom breakdowns are another trademark of the ‘bogg, and they make sure to include a couple of those mosh-inducing sections in this five-minute extreme metal workout.

Jim Carrey is one of the most prolific comic actors in Hollywood. The actor changed the way comedy stars were looked at in the industry by giving solid hits in the ‘90s with films such as Ace Venture: Pet Detective, The Mask, Liar Liar, and more. Though he has done great work in dramas such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, he is known for his comedic work the most.
Carrey scored a trio of incredible hits including his breakthrough release Ace Ventura. After the success of the comic book adaptation The Mask, Carrey played the role of Lloyd Christmas in the comedy Dumb and Dumber. The actor was so committed to the role of a stupid limo driver that he chipped the cap off of his tooth to give him the iconic look.

When I first listened to Tk from Ling tosite sigure , it was through Tokyo Ghoul ’s Op, “unravel.” I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that this was many anime fans’ first exposure to the singer because it’s truly iconic. You hear him sing in that high-pitched voice of his, “Oshiete yo, oshiete yo,” the instrumentals kick in, and then you get goosebumps. I’ve said this about many other anime songs, but this one ends up on my karaoke list if I’m feeling brave or want to damage my vocal cords. Tk, or Toru Kitajima, is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and singer-songwriter from the band Ling tosite sigure. He started releasing music as a soloist in 2011, and since then, he has left a major mark in the anime scene. His music style is an acquired taste for some, but for me who’s an emo at heart,...

When "Pet Sematary" was published in 1983, it came with a killer marketing hook: it was billed as the book that was so scary it even frightened its author, Stephen King. Whether or not that was true was immaterial; it was too good to ignore — Stephen King, the master of horror, had penned something that scared even him! To hear King tell it, which he has numerous times over the years, he found the book so disturbing — particularly its ultra-dark subject matter — that he stuffed it in a drawer, only to later pull it out to fill a contractual obligation. I'm a big Stephen King fan, and "Pet Sematary" is my favorite King novel. My first encounter with the material wasn't the book, though — it was Mary Lambert's 1989 film adaptation.
I was six in 1989, which is probably way too young to watch "Pet Sematary." But watch it I did, and folks,...

Presented by Lisa Frankenstein, 1989 Week is dialing the clock back to the crossroads year for the genre with a full week of features that dig six feet under into the year. Today, it all comes to an end as Rachel Reeves searches for scares in the suburbs.
In the back half of the 1980s, the American suburbs experienced a resurgence in popularity. As global instabilities stabilized and economies began to boom, moving to the suburbs became a sign of financial and professional success. Primarily populated by young families, the suburbs also became associated with traditional family values, safety, and community. However, as any true crime enthusiast knows, some things (and some people) are not always as innocent as they appear.

It is hard to believe (for people of a certain age), but the year 1994 was 30 years ago! For this week’s poll, we wanted to step back into the time machine and reminisce about what could possibly be considered one of the best years in cinema history. If, like me, you are in your thirties, 1994 holds a nostalgic place due to movies such as Blank Check, D2: The Mighty Ducks, Major League 2, Clifford, The Flintstones, Getting Even With Dad, Little Big League, Angels in the Outfield, The Little Rascals, Camp Nowhere, Richie Rich and Little Giants. The year also represented the huge breakout of comedy legend Jim Carrey as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber were all released during that single calendar year.
But it wasn’t just movies aimed at a child’s heart that were released in 1994. The year also saw some genuine...

‘Dylan’s New Nightmare’ – Fan Film Sequel to ‘New Nightmare’ Starring Miko Hughes Is Worth Your Time
I have mixed feelings on fan films. I’d prefer to see indie filmmakers invest their resources in an original concept rather than someone else’s intellectual property, but I also understand the reality that content with an established fanbase guarantees more engagement. Moreover, when beloved properties like A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th become entangled in ongoing legal disputes, fan films can sate viewers’ hunger for more.
Even if a new Elm Street movie is produced with Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, it’s highly unlikely to acknowledge the events of New Nightmare, given its blurring of the lines between fiction and reality. (Freddy vs Jason ignored it as well.) YouTuber-turned-writer/director Cecil Laird teamed with producer Vincente Disanti — the filmmaker behind the popular Friday the 13th fan film Never Hike Alone — to fill that void with Dylan’s New Nightmare: A Nightmare on Elm Street Fan Film.

The Humane Society of the United States has launched a campaign to address the pet poverty crisis exacerbated by inflation: The More Than a Pet campaign will raise awareness and provide solutions to keep pets happy, healthy and in their loving homes.
As inflation pushes prices higher, many families across the country are struggling to afford veterinary care, food and supplies for their beloved pets. Nowhere is this more acute than for families who were already experiencing systemic poverty. According to the latest consumer price index, the cost of pet products and services is up by more than 9% year over year. With more than 20 million pets living in poverty—a number three times greater than the number of pets entering shelters every year—this is a long overlooked national crisis. The Ghostface planter is particularly interesting, as the plant you grow atop his head is intended to form his iconic black hood – it looks more like a Bob Ross hairdo, however.
Thing from the “Wednesday” series gets his own Chia Pet as well, seen below.
You can pre-order all three Chia Pets from Entertainment Earth today.
Expect them in October 2023.

“God Only Knows” is one of the best songs by The Beach Boys and is a beautiful love ballad. Many famous musicians regard it as an excellent track, which continues to be popular almost 60 years later. While The Beach Boys did have a slight rivalry with The Beatles during the 1960s, Brian Wilson’s inspiration for “God Only Knows” came to him after listening to a Beatles album that profoundly impacted him.

Rubber Soul is the sixth studio album by The Beatles and debuted in 1965. The album reached No. 1 in the U.S. and the U.K., featuring the No. 1 hit single “We Can Work it Out”. While The Beatles would have more successful albums like The White Album and Abbey Road, Rubber Soul was a massive influence on Brian Wilson.

The Beach Boys were one of the biggest musical groups of the 1960s. But that doesn’t mean they completely dominated the entertainment industry. The band provided the theme song for a short-lived ’60s sitcom that few have heard of today.
The Beach Boys’ massive musical success, including dozens of hit songs and best-selling albums
The Beach Boys were formed in 1961 and were composed of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and their friend Al Jardine. Brian was the creative mastermind behind the group’s music, while dad Murry Wilson managed them.
The group dominated the charts in the ’60s with hit singles like “Surfin’ U.S.A,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” and “California Girls.” The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide and still tour today.

Shortly thereafter, the TLC star found out she was expecting again. There was a risk of complications with getting pregnant so quickly because of Amy’s gastric bypass surgery.

Ahead of the release of thriller It Snows in Benidorm, the actor is taking your questions on his life, career and bizarre way of making tea
It’s a measure of a great actor that the characters they play are so convincing, it’s easy to think that’s what they’re like in real life. Timothy Spall found fame as dim builder Barry in 80s comedy drama Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. But before that, he’d been in the National Youth Theatre, trained at Rada, worked for the RSC and starred in his first Mike Leigh film, Home Sweet Home.
Obviously he can’t turn into a rat like he can in Harry Potter, but neither is he from from Birmingham, which will confuse fans of Red Dwarf (where he infamously invents the word “twonk”).

Arriving on digital this Friday, June 3rd, from Blumhouse Television and Epix is Unhuman, the latest project from Marcus Dunstan that finds a group of high schoolers on a field trip in a fight for their lives when things take a turn and they are confronted by a horde of blood-thirsty zombies. Co-written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton, Unhuman stars Brianne Tju, Benjamin Wadsworth, Uriah Shelton, Ali Gallo, and Peter Giles.
During the recent press day for Unhuman, Daily Dead had the chance to speak with Dunstan about his approach to the story for his latest tale of terror and how events from his childhood helped inspired him to take the less-expected route with the film’s storytelling. Dunstan also discusses working with his cast and crew and gives this writer hope that The Collective, the intended third part of The Collector trilogy, will eventually move forward at some point in the future after all.

Just three weeks after hitting theaters, the Kristen Stewart-starring “Spencer” is finding success beyond the multiplex, thanks to a rapid theatrical-to-vod release strategy. The awards contender hit PVOD the day before “House of Gucci” arrived in theaters, and right before major groups start awarding their annual prizes.
The potential for more awards attention could help its overall revenue in the coming weeks, but even in its first week on PVOD, Pablo Larrain’s portrait of a sliver of Princess Diana’s life enjoyed a strong initial showing. The film is already #4 on Apple TV/iTunes and #8 on Vudu, and #12 on the usually lagging Google Play list. Distributor Neon receives the same box office and VOD take on its films as the top studios, but with a vastly smaller investment. “Spencer” — which has grossed under $7 million — could prove very profitable.

"There isn't any right or wrong, there's just what happens." Rlje Films has debuted an official trailer for the indie horror drama An Unquiet Grave, which is arriving on VOD starting in January after a streaming run on Shudder earlier this year. The film originally premiered at the 2020 Nightstream Film Festival last year, and was one of the most buzzed about films showing there. A year after losing his wife in a car crash, Jamie convinces her sister to return with him to the site of the accident and perform a strange ritual. But as the night wears on, it becomes clear that he has darker intentions. "An Unquiet Grave is an exploration of grief, and the harm we cause when we don't take responsibility for our own healing." Starring Jacob A. Ware & Christine Nyland. This looks like Pet Sematary lite but about reviving a wife not a few dead pets.

Exclusive: Pet Sematary, Stephen King’s self-proclaimed scariest property ever, next installment in the franchise has gained momentum as it looks like it has found its director. Sources tell Deadline, Lindsey Beer has signed on to direct Paramount Players’ follow-up adaptation of the successful 2019 horror pic based on Stephen King’s best-seller. Beer has become one of busiest screenwriters and this will mark her directing debut. The classic 1989 adaptation made history with Mary Lambert directing the pic and its 1992 follow-up and it was important to studio execs to go back to the films roots and have a female filmmaker at the helm. Beer has wanted to jump into the directing the chair and saw this as a perfect opportunity. Beer also wrote the latest script based off a draft by Jeff Buhler.
Plot details are unknown at this time. The original story, which the 1989 and 2019 pic was also loosely based on,...

Betty White celebrated her 99th birthday with a blast from the past. On Jan. 17, the Golden Girls alum took to Instagram to express her excitement over the major milestone, as well as the re-release of a talk show she filmed way back in 1971. "Would you believe it?! It's my 99th birthday which means I can stay up as late as I want without asking," Betty wrote. "I am also very pleased to let you know about the re-release of my long-lost series after fifty years! I am just so proud of the 'Pet Set'. I hope everyone is well and staying safe. We will get through this." Betty shared a video compilation from The Pet Set, which she produced alongside her late...

Today is Betty White’s 99th birthday. She’s forgotten more about television than most of us will ever know, and the evidence of that came in the outpouring of well-wishes that dotted social media from celebrities and fans. To put the cherry on the cake, White’s long-unseen series, Pet Set, created by and starring the television icon, will make its debut on digital platforms and DVD on February 23. The star-studded 39 half-hours feature fellow animal-loving icons, including Carol Burnett, Mary Tyler Moore, Doris Day, Burt Reynolds, Jimmy Stewart, Shirley Jones, James Brolin, and dozens more. The showed aired in syndication from 1971-1972 and was produced by White and her husband, Allen Ludden. It was canceled when its main sponsor, the Carnation Company, decided to direct its advertising budget exclusively to commercials rather than programming. The talk show had four segments. White would bring out a guest star to showcase their pets,...

Stephen King just got his very own Funko!
The toy company announced on Monday that the venerable author will be celebrated with two Pop! figures in his likeness.
The first features King in a black sweater and glasses holding a book, while the second features the writer covered in blood with a book in one hand and an axe in the other — a nod to his classics Carrie and The Shining.
While Funko didn’t say exactly when the figures will drop — they are “coming soon” — it did say that the bloodied King figure will be a Barnes and Noble exclusive.
