Venom: The Last Dance is a fun movie, but there's one moment which has left pretty much everyone scratching their heads.
The threequel establishes that Eddie Brock and Venom must not fully transform because doing so will activate their Codex and bring Knull's Xenophage immediately to their location. It's a major plot point.
Despite that, when the Lethal Protector is reunited with Mrs. Chen in Last Vegas, Venom fully transforms for an extended dance sequence which brings the Xenophage to their location, risks her life, and leads to them being captured by Imperium.
Now, an extended clip featuring this bizarre Venom: The Last Dance moment has been officially released. Whether you're seeing this for the first time or experiencing it all over again, it paints this character in a whole new light.
Then again, a movie with a title like this surely needed a literal dance scene, right?

Any film with an ensemble Hollywood royalty cast is almost always guaranteed to be a box office hit. Last Vegas is an incredibly inventive play on words, featuring a group of retirees looking to have one last rodeo together in the world’s gambling capital. Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, and Morgan Freeman – the cast probably couldn’t get any more box office if it tried – although rumors were circulating at the time that Jack Nicholson would be involved.
Film production and setting
Once the film’s production was underway, it became clear that Nicholson had bypassed the project. He can be very selective of his work now that he’s in the twilight years of his life, starring in only two films since his incredible performance in Martin Scorsese’s The Departed. Yet, maybe his intuition about what it takes to make a good film might have played a...

Morgan Freeman did not reach the heights in Hollywood by always playing Mr. Nice Guy. His ruthless decision to fire a famous rapper from one of his movies shows the actor’s commitment to his craft. In 2013, Freeman joined forces with Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, and Kevin Kline to star in the comedy film Last Vegas. The film was supposed to have rapper T.I. in a supporting role in the film.

A New Year means lots of removals from Netflix and January 1st is looking busy, with over 100 movies set to leave the service already. Below, we’ll be keeping track of all the Netflix departures for the first month of 2024.
First, a few housekeeping notes as to how Netflix removals work before we dive in. Due to licensing agreements, shows and movies added to Netflix aren’t added forever. Instead, they’re essentially rented for a fixed period. All the shows below have their current window on Netflix ending and will likely be bound for a rival streaming service.
We list titles slightly differently from other outlets, with our listings being the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any titles scheduled to expire on January 1st, for example, you’ll need to watch by the end of December 31st.

The return of Loki to Disney+ didn’t cause quite as big a stir as the show’s debut.
Season two of the Marvel series premiered Oct. 5, and it gathered 446 million minutes of viewing time over its first three days and change (it was released at 9 p.m. Et/6 p.m. Pt Oct. 5 in the United States), according to Nielsen’s streaming rankings. That’s about 39 percent lower than the 731 million minutes of viewing for Loki’s series premiere week in June 2021.
Disney said that the season two premiere, which runs 47 minutes, had 10.9 million “views” worldwide, which would equate to about 512 million minutes of watch time (the increasingly standard definition of a streaming view is total viewing time divided by run time). The 446 million minutes recorded by Nielsen includes viewing of season one’s six episodes as well, so it’s hard to say exactly how much time U.S.

“Barbie” (Warner Bros.), the year’s biggest hit, had some competition its third week out on PVOD (for rent at $24.99), and it’s coming from within its own house.
“Blue Beetle,” from Warners’ DC Comics division, actually took #1 at Vudu — even more impressive since it ranks by revenue, putting the $19.99 “Beetle” at a disadvantage. It placed #3 at Google Play, which often is slower to note new releases. “Barbie” remains #1 at iTunes and Google Play.
Three other new titles debuted this week, led by “Gran Turismo” (Sony), as high as #2 at Vudu. Also at $19.99, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” (Focus) also placed on two charts. It’s #4 at Vudu after its third weekend in theaters.
“Muzzle” (Rlj), a direct-to-home release landed at #6 at iTunes at a $6.99 rental. Taking the “John Wick” plot about a man seeking revenge after his dog is killed, this stars Stephen Lang and Aaron Eckhardt.

Paul Weitz’s “Moving On” boasts a legendary ensemble that includes Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Malcolm McDowell and Richard Roundtree. It’s always possible for such an illustrious cast to simultaneously elicit excitement and dread, though. Just ask anyone who has endured “Queen Bees,” “Poms,” “Book Club,” “Last Vegas” or “Space Cowboys.”
Good news: “Moving On” doesn’t just aim for warm and pleasant. The film is wickedly droll and shockingly riveting – the operative word being “shockingly.” The element of surprise abounds and is more integral to the plot here than in, say, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.” The less you know, the better because the film defies expectations in the best way possible. With that said, and somewhat heedless of our own advice, this review regrettably must proceed to tell you more. According to a release announcing the news, Landline Pictures “will focus on uplifting and entertaining stories that are about and targeting the over 50 demographic, yet commercial and conceptual enough to cross over to a broader audience.”

Every few years, Robert De Niro likes to mix it up. He’ll throw in “Last Vegas” or “The Intern” to remind us all he’s more than Travis Bickle or Jake Lamotta. He can also be a generic old man with a deep voice and a contract that requires him to wear reading glasses for 70% of the movie. And so arrives “The War With Grandpa,” an adaptation of Robert Kimmel Smith‘s 1984 novel, directed by animation veteran Tim Hill, with a script by Matt Ember and Tom J.

Robert De Niro, bless his soul, he’s a national treasure and his career go something like this: De Niro does occasional prestige projects with people like Martin Scorsese and then most of the other time these days, he does movies like “Last Vegas” where he teams with other veterans/old-timer actors like Morgan Freeman and Michael Douglas in broad comedies. That seems to be the gist of “The Comeback Trail,” a ‘70s filmmaking comedy about a scam artist film producer who falls in debt to the mob, and then to get out of hock, finances a badly written Western movie in the hopes of the production killing its aging star.

Adam DeVine‘s co-star in the new comedy “Jexi” is a cell phone, more specifically, a virtual assistant voiced by Rose Byrne.
At the film’s premiere on Thursday in Los Angeles, DeVine told Variety that during filming, for timing, he listened through a crackling earpiece to another actress reading Byrne’s lines.
“It was hard [acting opposite the phone] because it was before [Byrne] recorded,” he said. “It was much harder than it [looks], because half the time those ear pods don’t work as well as you want them to.”
Co-director Jon Lucas told Variety of the scene anatomy, “We had a lot of ideas about how the sound would work. Then our sound guy was like those are all terrible ideas. He was 100% correct, and we were 100% wrong. … Frankly, there were times when [Adam] would just take the earbud out and do the whole scene, his side of the scene, without ever hearing anyone talking.

“Captain Marvel” continued its dominance with a $69 million second weekend. The 55 percent second weekend drop is on par with the most recent “Avengers” and “Thor” entries; by contrast, “Wonder Woman” and “Black Panther” each dropped about 44 percent in their second outings.
Of all moviegoers this week, about half went to see “Captain Marvel.” That left the total gross, which will end up somewhat above $140 million, about $10 million above the same weekend last year. That’s two up weekends in a row after a long string of inferior three-day totals. That brings the year-to-date drop to just under 19 percent, with a total take lagging by about $460 million from where things stood in 2018.
The domestic take so far for the Brie Larson starrer is up to $266 million 10 days in, with over $400 million (about where “Wonder Woman” ended up) looking certain. The foreign take of $494 million brings worldwide to $760 million. That makes the...
