A theater play premiered in June 25, 1987 at the Kariranta summer stock theatre in Lahti, Finland. Both the play and the television adaptation are directed by Jukka Sipilä. The play initially premiered in summer of 1985 at the Nokian Työväennäyttämö, directed by Ossi Räikkä.
The director Jukka Sipilä and actor Harri Tirkkonen were part of the TV1 Televisioteatteri, a co-producer of the television adaptation. Ensio Suominen was the head art director in YLE TV2 channel.
